I recently had the pleasure of visiting Leona General Store Steakhouse in Texas, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. This charming little restaurant has a rich history dating back to the 1870s, when James David House and his family moved to Leona's Evans Chapel Community from Tennessee. Six generations of Houses have lived in Leona, and in 1997, Jerry and Cynthia House stumbled upon the old general store and decided to turn it into a restaurant.
Since then, the Leona General Store has become known for its delicious, hand-cut ribeye steaks, smoked chicken, and grilled pork ribeye. The restaurant has a cozy, down-home atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I decided to try the ribeye steak, and it was cooked to perfection - juicy and flavorful, with just the right amount of char on the outside. The portions are generous, too - I left feeling completely satisfied, but not overly stuffed.
Overall, I had a great experience at Leona General Store Steakhouse. If you're in the area and looking for a delicious, high-quality steak, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't be disappointed!

I’m so surprised that you know about this hidden gem. I used to work on oil rigs around this area and ate here weekly. They used to have all you can eat fried catfish on Thursday and steaks on Friday and Saturday. It’s been 7 years since I’ve been back at this place. After seeing this video, I will make a trip back here just to have steaks.

Several years ago we drove to Destin Florida from Thibodaux, Louisiana. Sister-in-law owned a Condo there and in Jacksonville, but Destin was closer. We stayed there for a week and wife drove back. She detoured to go to Lambert's in Alabama. I wanted to go home. I did not think it was worth it. Since then I don't drive out of my way for any place to eat. We have so many places here to eat at and we are one of the best when it comes to seafood out the gulf. Then with my son being "The Cajun Ninja" with a sold out cookbook, well you see where I am going with it. But with that being said appreciate you taking the time to drive there and let people know about Leona's. I did laugh when you ordered the chicken. When my children were little if I didn't order steak for them then they would have ate all mine . Great Job!

I shouldn’t give this away. But I will. I haven’t been there to Leona. Yet. May do a family Saturday road trip some day. But seems so similar to Johnny’s in Salado. Get the top sirloin for 2 or 4 there. Great, closer option for folks from Austin to Waco. Will not be disappointed. Best steaks I’ve ever had on planet Earth.

There were many steaks 🥩 🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩on the grill in the back while you were filming it. I know you asked for the steaks to be done medium. It looked like they were done medium rare which looked awesomely delicious. I usually get my steaks medium rare and that is how the steaks looked. Two hours is a long drive, but it is worth it since the steaks looked so good. The desserts are equally good.

I’ve been looking at Feast, but I was telling hubby earlier I’d seen a Hibachi Grill & Buffet and that it looked like ones of the same name in Knoxville & Nashville TN, as well as Wilmington NC! @@DavidSriracha it was AMAZING! 🤩 Like you said, esp for the price! $13.50 for lunch. We got there just before the lunch crowd hit. The dim sum wall was super cool and something I’d never seen on that scale at a buffet. Do you know if the absence of the chocolate fountain area was bc of lunch or that little sick-bug making it’s rounds again? We were wondering about that. It was also very much like the others I mentioned in my previous comment as far as esthetics, but def had more variety! Ngl, Chiba is still my #1 place in town! But a close second (& our #1 when it comes to steak!) is Texas Mesquite grill on the corner of Frontage & Mueschke in Cypress. It’s legit probably the best steak (NY strip) I’ve ever had, esp when it comes to the consistency of it. We’re there about once a week. So good & REASONABLE! Esp Thursday nights!! We had the same host and waitress when we were there 3 months ago. We got the biggest piece of steak and it was too thick. Next time we will just get 2 12 Oz so it cooks evenly

@@DavidSriracha I'm so sorry. It wasn't you guys; I think it started around 4:40 because I think the woman who seated you didn't understand your name or something. There might have been some tension if you had been on a long drive and then had to wait extra because of that. I know what it's like to feel hangry and I'm pretty sure that's all I was seeing. Also, just a tip about that long wide lens you're using: sometimes even though it gives us a full view of what is on the table, it can sometimes make your family distant from your viewers. I love watching your kids and your wife react to the food, sometimes more than the food itself (esp. since your wife is so honest about her reactions). I love your close ups of the steak, too, don't get me wrong. Still, remember that seeing your family in close ups is part of why some of us watch you and subscribe to you.

I noticed last time when I didn't use the wide angle lens, some people mentioned they wanted to see more of the food and less of my shiny forehead 😆 Jokes aside, I find that when I use the wide angle camera, I'm able to capture my wife's true reactions, whereas if I use the regular camera, she tends to freeze up. My daughter will be taking over soon and you'll see it in the new video. Thanks again for your help and support Co 😄

Just let them know that your Cali Viet fam is boosting you all up no matter what. Your adventures remind me a lot of my late father raising my younger bro and I in KY and traveling all over the country. Ate there in June. We were seated and ordered. and waited, and waited, and waited. Waitress said our order would be out soon. Other tables were seated and ordered, and were finishing dinner. Finally found a manger, apparently no order was placed and they would put steaks on the the grill for us. The steaks and atmosphere is great, but service needs some help. Yes, I know things go wrong but when they do you need to work on it.
