DISCARTED and Rusted Vice - Amazing Restoration
A few words around the old rusted Vice.
Liv Postojna is a Slovenian company that dates back to the year 1954.
I restored the Liv Vice because it is very rare, and small. As it has barely 60 mm wide Jaws.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
In the vice, I first removed the corrosion by electrolysis, then I completely disassembled it, sanded it and covered the holes with polyester putty.
Followed by application of primer to the spray, and Hammerite Mid Green paints for the final coat.
All screws and jaws I was oil hardened, for the first time I also made something for the channel on a lathe.
After hardening, I also nickel-plated some components.
The last step is to assemble the Vise and end of the video, BEFORE - AFTER.

That's what I call a PROPER restoration! Everything brought up to its finest condition and the factory standards improved on. It's almost a work of art - shame to use it, it's so lovely!

Excellent job sir. You need to get the jaw much hotter if you truly want to harden it. 300c is not hot enough.

Now that was a stunning restoration. Absolutely faultless work with attention to the finest detail. Loved the knurling on the crank handle. Haven’t seen that before.

Solo me queda una pregunta....¿Qué propósito tiene instalar un maneral con cuerpo estriado? Es la 1° vez que veo un maneral con dicha textura¡¡ Comunmente son LISOS. Que hermosa restauración, como pocas se ven ultimamente. Igual pregunto...¿Que marca o fabricante es este equipo? ¿será LIV o es el modelo? NO se ve por ninguna parte.

Точно такие же нашел вчера у себя. Окунул в уксусную кислоту разбавленную водой. Лежит кислотится. К этим тискам снизу идет зажим крепление к столу или столешнице

Wd is not really penetrating oil. I just displaces water. You should try an actual penetrating oil

It is fashionable now to take the pieces with tweezers and put them somewhere!. You can try to be a little more normal and original!
