@@harleylazy Transparency effects and the ability to customize your backgraounds, level of transparency, text colors, and fonts are the driving force behind modified Discord clients. If Discord actually implemented such basic options, it'd be a massive win. That being said, I'd rather host a Revolt server or something. Discord's been changing way too much for my taste.

I like the transperent one too, it looks very clean. Honestly, I'd like it if Discord would let us choose between these 4 options, the poll shows people are quite divided between those designs so making them all available would be the best choice.

Discord is nowhere near as big of a platform as Twitter and Reddit. Discord servers are much smaller but have a lot more active engagement on them.

The glass design feels very retro to me. I used to use a chat program called Trillian that used to combine all your chat apps into one big app. Talking AIM/Yahoo/ICQ/Facebook , and it HEAVILY used the transparency feature of Windows Vista/7.

2nd is by far the best. I really, REALLY hope its actually transparent, so that I can actually see my apps and background behind/through it. If they do pick the 2nd than make it toggleable, since at least for me, its not hard in the slightest to read any text on screen, but IG for others It might be.

2 I use a lot of transparency mods and it would look cool with my wallpaper. But give options to adjust transparency, blur levels, or to disable all together. Im not favoring look over function, you can have both.

I like the transparency. It reminds me of Windows Aero, and I miss the whole Frutiger Aero aesthetic trend from the mid-to-late 2000s, and I miss it a lot, so to see it starting to come back makes me very happy. I just hope they allow it to be toggled. Though if it's frosted-looking glass like what Aero did, it won't be AS big of an issue.

I do like the transparency. I feel UI now does is very minimalistic. But the transparent one reminds me of the old days of UI like in the early 2000. Just my thought.

- Transparency is king. This is one of the things that modified Discord clients allow. Also changing colors of text fields, allowing backgrounds per section, and allowing various levels of transparency per section. Meaning you can have something like a blur effect on over the background and change the color of text and font to make it easier to read. - I couldn't care less about the activities and I don't know anyone who uses them. - Chat bubbles aren't horrible, but they're definitely not a benefit in any conceivable way.

Chat bubbles would be horrible for huge servers imo, but would look pretty for dms to a single person are small group. I think the option to turn them on or off (maybe even per dm/server) would be kinda cool

idk why its so hard to just...make the UI customizable or atleast the ability to select different UIs specifically the reason why i still use a 2 years older version of discord is because i hate the new UI of discord mobile but everytime discord gets a new version my phone autoupdates which is annoying since my phone has no setting to turn it off, so i have to constantly reinstall discord from a APK every month or so

I have a mod that makes my discord transparent, and am in a constant fight with discord as they keep removing it on random intervals and I have to keep installing it. Even if they have that I still want to see my wallpaper engine through it.

I hope there won’t be any significant changes and Discord won’t become like all the other messengers, which are already sick of, it doesn’t need it. I also hope that the mobile design will remain as similar as possible to the current one, since Discord finally managed to find a middle ground.

As someone who uses Better Discord this doesn't really effect me at all but I'm gonna say it, I used a transparent look for one of my backgrounds before. It took A LOT of tinkering to find one where it wasn't an absolute eye strain while at the same time making the text more visible which I was able to accomplish. Also could we stop redesigning things that already work? KZfaq tried it and got a huge amount of backlash from one of the worst UI designs to ever be made.

I'd rather have 1 or 3. I don't mind transparency, but I also am someone who doesn't really have any accessibility issues. Just cause I can deal with it, and maybe even love it, doesn't mean most of the others are in the same boat. If we're gonna have 2, let the transparency be an option. Hell, I'd make it adjustable! Both in opacity and in blurriness. You can have some fun with option 2 if it's done right.

Discord is still completely non-functional on foldables btw, it can't rescale properly when going from unfolded to folded, and hides the "send" button past the edge of the screen. They need to fix vertical aspect scaling ASAP.

FINALLY, a good UI. UI 2 looks really good. It's what I constantly did w/ my plugins for desktop. I do hope they lessen the brightness and contrast, tho. I agree that it's absolutely unreadable. Changing the BG would be RLLY cool. Then I wouldn't need discord plugins aeathetic-wise anymore.

Current layout is good they need to let the layouts be interchangeable on PC for mobile you can download an older apk and if you use iOS, if you're jailbroken you can download an older IPA

I mainly use discord on mobile and have to agree with Spattyboy. The last UI update discombobulated me, my old discord muscle memory kicks in from time to time to throw me off. Same thing with Reddit The community ,which has rooted itself, is the only thing that's keeping these apps afloat.

Discord needs to hire Juxtopposed. They have videos on KZfaq where they demonstrate how they would redesign the UI on certain platforms (ex. Spotify, Instagram, Steam, IMDB, etc.) to make it more sensible and accessible. The overall consensus from the comments seem to be very positive. They haven't made a redesign for Discord (yet?) but I'd like to see them take a crack at it.
