embedded videos have always counted as views, that’s what those gaming guide and fandom wiki sites use all the time. they’ll run an egregious amounts of videos with youtube embeds to farm views (and destroy your ram) while you are reading on their site.

KZfaq can absolutely automatically correct for this. It's not anything technical like player context analytics, just a database update that removes 1.39 billion from the view count manually.

Maybe the cache of the user sessions reached its time to life and when the cache expired all user session commited an additional request. That wold make 1.25b requests. the other 150m could either be more users that logged in after work, or actual people on YT watching the video because of the social media traction.

There’s basically no need to get nitro if you’re simply talking with friends, so that would probably be their pitch for it, get rid of ads with nitro, then they make money from the people who don’t want to deal with it.

Also, for those of you who don't know. Everything that devs work on is reviewed by AT LEAST 1 other dev on their own machine and then the code is deployed to an internal server ("company wide") so that they can further test it before releasing it to the public. So it's basically impossible that a company this size didn't know what was going on

There is a video about youtube views getting stuck at 301 for some time before updating. KZfaq fixed that videos view at 301. So they can play with the views for sure
