Also chef showdown is the first third party discord activity 😅 Also with the free version, you have a time limit and you can't add music to the queue. With premium you get no time limit and access to use the queue. The free time limit at the moment is 10 hours, BUT it could change because once again it's an experiment.

I think the problem of this activity is the music choice. If the old music bots could use KZfaq videos in order to play songs/podcast (which is a great repository for some KZfaq-only tunes, specific live perfomances/experiences, compilations, radios, etc.), this will have only approved music - like NCS or (in rarer cases) some popular/new artists, but not everything. Having every song approved isn't possible, because everyone has their own expectations of the deal and some artists price A LOT of money for their music, and so it is not valuable for Discord (nor the developers of Rythm) to just buy every single permission. Sure it will add some music to the library from time to time, but I don't think it will be better than everything that bots provided 2 years ago (before C&D) or even the KZfaq activity. Good thing that it's the first third-party activity, good improvement, but still - I don't see the actual point of using it.

KZfaq removing Music bots was pointless, as numerous individuals swiftly created alternative solutions, and anyone could easily generate their own by utilizing existing template code or acquiring the knowledge to quickly develop one tailored to their server.

If it is like Spotify, dnd sessions through discord is going to get 10x harder. Most music that DMs use are from games or from very small musicians, which means that those types of music won't be on official music programs

iFrames (invincibility-frames) are a gameplay mechanic utilized by many games that include combat scenarios. When taking hits, the player will be put into iFrames as to not take additional hits from the same hit immediately. iFrames are also utilized in things like special attack animations and movesets as to not take damage during the attack (alternatively, games utilize systems like superarmor to allow the player to still be hit, but taking less damage and being immune to flinch/staggers while still being killable).

a big draw of rhythm as a bot was the lack of processing power necessary, was literally a godsend for when i was stuck on a really shitty laptop. feel like adding it as an activity kinda fucks with a lot of the draw for it conceptually

I missed Rhythm bot so much as a cult of friends and I used to always change our names to Rhythm Bot with the various colors (before the bot tag). Server owner eventually even gave us the role of bots so we'd appear in the same place

The problem with the s is that if the approved pages are not correctly sanitized against XSS it could be used to just redirect people from the approved domain to the malicious one

In this case, discord provides a way for the Rhythm developers to embed their website into discord's website, and with that, the discord app. Before anyone says "oh but isn't that insecure? what happens when the rhythm devs read out my token from the website?": Iframes had their own share of vulnerabilities and exploits before, and most if not all of them have been fixed a long time ago. Iframes are in their own sandbox and can't access the website embedding them, neither can the website embedding them access the website being embedded, unless it explicitly gives the browser permission to do that.

As a programmer who has used s in the past (CORS nightmare oml), the real concern with I have is js scripts running through them to sniff user info. Iframes essentially act as another browser window and can run their own javascript just like any normal website (websites can have s inside them too! They’re p old in html and are )

Most ads are in an iFrames it's a way to provide your viewing experience without every other site needing to know how it works. For reference, embedding anything is basically just using an with a src.

I don't think s are ever going to be a feature. As it's an embed of a website implemented into another website, IPs can also be grabbed through it. So unless Discord implements some sort of proxy system that works through the - which is idiotic and basically gives people a free proxy, the moment you click on Little Timmy's DMs there's a chance of being jumped by an IP logger without being able to do anything.

Every tool has a good and a bad use. You can use a hammer to build a house, or you can use a hammer to break into a house This new tool has lots of potential, both good and bad. I just hope that Discord puts in the effort to limit the bad uses as much as possible

IF youtube was smart they'd partner with Discord and allow all youtube links to be able to played from bots like Jockie Music, and Rythm bot. Then the only premium system these bots should have is to have 4 extra bots for use in there server. Spotify should also partner with discord so any song can be played from the bot from a song link.

For music just selfhost Redbot... It will cost a bit of money (almost free/month), and you will have to learn how to set it up, but it's worth it. I do believe that we are going to see the end of big free-to-use platforms sooner or later. It's just impossible to sustain such a model without charging users. So instead of relying on big platforms that provide you free stuff, do things by yourself, or reach out to people you know who can setup such things. The benefits are just fabulous: you have your own services (ex: a discord bot or a cloud storage), you own your data and you are not bound to the rules of the company behind this, or any of it's action. The only terms you have to respect are in the licence, and generally, it's really permissive.

A cool idea for discord to police s from things like fake discord login pages would be to use AI to sort of scan the digital look of the page in the iFrame and detect its resemblance to a discord login page. Would be a really innovative way of beating scams.

I prefer listening to Spotify premium. But there is a TeamSpeak (Yes people do still use TeamSpeak) bot that KZfaq is unaware of, and I hope they never find out about it, that I use sometimes.
