That bit is intended to be used on boards of the same thickness. Set up is only hard the first time. Then cut a set-up block and use it when you want to use the bit again.

Yep, that's what I was doing as I stated in the video. I was talking about if you had different sized matched pieces of wood that you need to join, you would have to do the set up again for the new wood (like you were working on to projects at once, or had two types of thicknesses of material that you wanted to mate with the same wood with the same thickness). Either way, I think it's more of a gimmick. I don't think I'll be using mine again. Thanks so much for the comment and thanks for watching Phil!

Awesome as usual dude! Those vevor collapsible storage containers are so cool! I can't believe I've missed them, I browse Vevor often as well. As far as the locking miter bits go, wish I could help :/ seeing how controversial that router bit is, it's made me want to get it and try it out myself. There have been a few instances where I've seen other woodworkers use it and they come out looking great. Hopefully I can find some luck on them as well. Thanks! And on to waiting for the next one 🤙

I’ve never used a locking mitre but. I’ve seen them on KZfaq. I’ve seen the setup jig/tool as well. What I’ve seen in the videos is that it’s a combination of rough tee height adjustment and also fence depth adjustment. Meaning I don’t think the fence will be set up center of the router bit Deleon what the material thickness is. Just thought I would throw that in there as nobody mentioned that detail in the comments. 👍

Thanks so much for sharing Peter! it definitely has a lot of calibration points, that I think can only be perfectly accurate with a jig or a setup piece. I may be looking into getting one of those set up pieces (I think rockler sells them). But I suspect I won't be using it much going forward. Really appreciate you sharing and watching!

Item 1: Stumpy Nubs has a video on how to set up the Lock Miter bit. It's a hell of a joint if you take the time. Also Rockler sells a template to help set it up easily and quickly. Item 2: That's not a miter joint you're using with the adjustable miter clamp. It's just an angled butt joint. Item 3: I'd be interested just how far away from a direct connection with the Woodpecker rules you can get with the tape measure before it indicates a change in dimension. Sure, at exactly 3" it reads correctly, but what if you're at 3+"? How far can you go before it displays something other than 3"? That's the real indication of accuracy.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 2 ай бұрын
Item 1 : thanks so much adam! Someone else mentioned that as well. Looking forward to checking out that rockler template. Sounds like that might save a lot of headaches! Item 2: You are correct. I was just using the but joint as an example to show the mitered angle. Thanks so much for watching!

Good show as always. My question is about the tape measure. I've bought similar things in the past and have found that they eat batteries. I did notice yours was rechargeable. That's a plus. but also another problem I've had . was that the display was extremely dim. And hard to read.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 2 ай бұрын
Great questions! The rechargable feature is nice. I think most of them these days are rechargable thank goodness! The screen is probably one of the easiest ones I've had to read. I probably have about 5 of these digital tape measures I've gotten so far, and this one seems to be the simplest and the display is simple, not too difficult to read. Very bright in my opinion vs. some of the other ones I've taken a look at! Great questions and thanks for wtaching Chris!

@FlynndoggWoodwork

Kowood also makes one for their bit and it's double duty with 3/4 on one side and 1/2 on the other. A lot of people use the 1/2 thickness jig to setup since the intent is to get the middle of your board set to the middle of the bit cutting area. Then, set the bit to the fence and your stock. There are lots of videos on KZfaq for this.

I love your reviews. But the Vevor slatwall panels only have a 25 lb carrying capacity without adding metal inserts to each slot (about $11 per two slots) that will increase the load capacity to 75 lb. Useful for hand tools, but using it to carry the weight of a collection of power tools or clamps seems iffy without the added inserts.

With a bit of actually playing around the 45 lock miter can be handy. I've used it a few times, would say it's the end all be all; however, with some time and care testing and setting it up and actually giving it a chance on not POS wood.. they can be very handy. I would say dont just give it a bad review because you're too lazy and anxious for the content to be posted on your KZfaq. I also keep 1 inch and 3/4 inch pieces of HDPE plastic in my shop so once I dial a bit like that in through my initial setup I then make my own setup jig. I would just say nice effort, but I question your methods in giving items a fair chance. I don't know if I would also say that's a fair chance not that is not a proper joint for particle pressure board.

Well, I sort of disagree with you. It sounds like this bit comes with a set up block that can make it easy. I spent about as much time as I would have with any other router bit. An hour to learn how to use a bit is just too much in my opinion. Even if I didn't have a youtube channel, this bit would have been thrown to the side and not used again. I will be giving this bit a second chance if I get a set up block but otherwise, I don't think it is a bit with much utility. Thanks for watching!

Bert, it's barely know "them." Forget being woke, you need to review subjective/objective cases before you get fancy. ;D

Haha! You are so correct. My wife who is a journalism major is always reminding me how to say things correctly. She has given up on Burt! :). Thanks for watching Eric!
