In today's video we will take you to visit Machu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders of the world.
When you arrive at this sanctuary, which is one of the seven wonders of the modern world, you may try to go crazy and run around looking everywhere without any limits... But that's not exactly how your visit will go, so keep reading to find out what to do in Machu Picchu.
But before I show you everything you'll find there, I need to ask you: Have you ever seen how to get to Machu Picchu? No?!
Then click here… • MACHU PICCHU PERU: COM...
Now yes, young man! If you think you just get there and walk like a dizzy cockroach through the middle of the citadel, you're wrong. Since 2019, a “rule book” has been created that says you can only enter the archaeological site accompanied by a guide (hired separately), among other things.
In fact: We saw several people there without a guide. I don't know how they got in, or if this type of visit is worth it, after all, I'm sure you don't want to reach the high point of your trip and not absorb any relevant information, right?!
That said, let's get to the facts. There are 4 predefined circuits, and you must choose one of them. Theoretically, you only get in at the scheduled time (but we arrived an hour early and got in without any problems). It is also not possible to buy tickets on site. In fact, without the ticket you won't even be able to board the bus.
It's also worth mentioning that if you want to do more than one circuit, you need to buy more than one ticket...
Speaking of tickets, the best place to buy them is on the official website. Tickets start at 40 Bidens or 152 Incamoneys. There you will choose between the 4 circuits, schedule the time and make the payment. It is worth mentioning that there is no refund. If you can't go for some reason, you've lost the money.

As we said, there are 4 pre-defined circuits for visiting.
Circuit 1 is the most suitable for those who have no restrictions and want to experience all the excitement of being in the lost city of the Incas. It is the most complete circuit and is the only one that takes you to that viewpoint that has a classic view of the citadel.
Circuit 2 is a reduced version of circuit 1, it passes through the lower part of the llaqta (which means village in Quechua) and does not have access to the best view of the city. It is recommended for those who are more tired or have more mobility difficulties. Furthermore, it does not pass through the agricultural part of the city.
Circuit 3 has the distinction of climbing the mountain that gives the city its name. Machu Picchu. In addition, the tour of the citadel is also reduced. It is worth mentioning that the climb is moderate to strong, lasts more than two hours and reaches more than 3,000 meters in altitude.?
Finally, Circuit 4, in addition to taking that short stroll around the Machu Picchu trail, takes you to the top of Huayna Picchu, the mountain you see in the famous classic photo of the city. It's a moderate trail, which lasts around an hour and a half with steep climbs... If you want to do this circuit, I recommend even more advance notice, as only 200 accesses are granted per day.
And when I say longer notice, I mean at least 3 months…
When is the best time to go to Machu Picchu
The best option is to travel during the dry season (May to October).
During these months the weather is less stuffy and, above all, you don't run the risk of having your schedule messed up by the summer storms that hit there.
Likewise, during this period, temperatures remain mild throughout the year and do not usually exceed 20°C.
Even though it is during the dry season, a valuable tip is to avoid the month of July (school holidays in Brazil) and the first week of October (school holidays in Peru), as tickets and accommodation tend to be more expensive on these dates.
Help table:
Peru's currency is the Nuevo Sol. But you know that we like to rename currencies to a reality closer to ours, that is, to make jokes. So below is a conversion table to guide you and give you a general idea of costs (data from January 23)
Bidens = Dollars
Incamoneys = New Peruvian Sun
Lula Pesos = Brazilian Reals
In January 2023, 1 Biden = 3.80 Incamoneys = 5.35 Lula Pesos
