I was in Spain in 2017. I would encourage everyone to visit. It is fascinating, friendly, and better value than most European countries. I plan to go again.

@@Zergcerebrates I was with a group of English speakers and also know a little Spanish myself. However, I managed to get by ok when I was on my own. I always felt safe but there were times we had to try hard. I recommend travel to Spain. I especially loved Barcelona.

Iin 2017 as retired American I thought it was fairly cheap. I was with a group package deal and it was very affordable. It was a great destination and well worth the cost

The Atocha station itself is beautiful on the inside with some beautiful statues and plants garden, I also love the area around Paseo De Recoleto and of course the San Miguel food market.

2:26... That's what you SHOULDN'T eat in Madrid. Please, seriously, DO NOT EAT PAELLA. It's terrible in the vast majority of places. Try a Spanish omelette, some sardines, patatas bravas, snails, ensaladilla rusa, croquettes or take the opportunity to taste regional foods from Spain or even Latin American cuisine (especially Peruvians and Mexicans)
