Doc Hollywood filmed in Micanopy, Florida. Visit Old Florida in Class B RV.Doc Hollywood, starring Michael J Fox, was filmed in 1991 in "old world" Florida, the town of Micanopy.
Filled with history, antique stores, and non-touristy charm, the 200 year old town is the oldest continuously lived-in interior town in Central Florida.
"One of the 12 Cutest Small Towns in America", says The Huffington Post.
"This is Florida the way it used to be", says The New York Times.
Micanopy (say Mick-ah-no-pee) has a population of 600 residents. This tiny town is perfect for a day trip or even overnighting (discrete parking) on the street in your Camper Van. Everything closes at 5 PM and opens around 10 AM, though.
The cremated remains of River Phoenix, brother of Joaquin Phoenix, is sprinkled at the family ranch in Micanopy, Florida.
Cross Creek was another movie filmed in Micanopy. Author Ms. Rawlings lived nearby in Cross Creek, Florida.
