Thanks. sadly that one thing I never got to do riding a slam door EMU on the line, nether rode the line on a Class 158 as well.

This was yet another fantastic Simontrains Railway Journey on this very quaint and picturesque branch line both stations you visited did have character about them or simply fantastic views it’s branch line I’d certainly would like to travel along I continue to enjoy watching your Simontrains Railway Journeys and I look forward to watching many more of your Simontrains Railway Journeys until then my friend carry on being awesome keep up the good work take care and stay safe

Brilliant ive ridden this route twice but only as far as Lymington Town once in 2016 and in 2021 this is a lovely route and Lymington Town station is a lovely station & Lymington is a lovely town in the New Forest i remember before the 450s that currently run this route 158s used to do this route but anyway keep up the awesome work

Yes I remember seeing photos and videos on Class 158s on this branch line, like with the slam doors emus.... another unit I never had the chance to rode on this branch line.

Great Video Simon and Your knowledgement of the Lymington Branch-Line - I have actually been to the Old Station at Ampress Works but it is not much now apart from the Lymington Line running past it, it has a Petrol Garage and roundabout with houses and that's it sadly... But if you did have longer to look around Simon then the Town Centre for lunch is really beautiful as well

Thanks Ian, they run every 30 minutes and the four coach train can be quiet. They did used to run a Class 158 on weekdays and a Class 350 on weekends. only times I saw it bust with people heading to Brockenhurst.

The platform buildings at the Pier station were a lot more substantial in the 60s; I seem to recall an overall canopy and much SR cream coloured timberr

I've only seen photos from Lymington Pier in the 60s, think the M7s tank locos operated the line but it did look different back then to what it is today

I've driven on this line in Train Simulator a few times, as part of DTG's Southampton to Bournemouth route, and I find it so odd that the branch's only intermediate station is less than a mile from the terminus. Not to mention the use of a Class 450, which seems overkill for such a short line.

Think the Class 450 maybe is a overkill, I did this video Saturday morning between 8am and 10am and was quiet, the only time I saw it was busy with passengers from Lymington Town heading towards Brockenhurst but wouldn't say they were rammed. Not even half full. Never seen it during the morning, evening peak and Summer months.

A quick look online says that the Lymington branch line has first class seating for first class ticket holders only. Not sure why, there are other short lines with First Class such as Ascot to Aldershot and Farnham to Guildford

Thanks Jack. Strange but does have a connection Ferry service at Lymington Pier which taking a wild guess. IF there was no ferry services I wouldn't be surprised it it wasn't first class.

Great video Simon to your question of is first class declassified on the Lymington branch sadly it’s not but does look like a nice little branch line to go down or if you want to get to the other side of the Isle of Wight without going to Portsmouth

One time there was a Class 158 Diesel multiple unit train that used to run on that branch line before I think. Did the Class 444 also used the branch line before or is it now mainly 4-Car Class 450 that is used on the branch line. I would like to go to Lymington as I haven’t been there before.

I don't think Class 444s used the branch Line being honest, remember seeing Class 158s operating on this line in photos and videos.
