Looks like a good wallet Rex . I use titan 1.0 and its a nice rig. The 2.0 will be gret with the secure element chip. The only tricky part for me is doing the updates , i find them a bit confusing. Keep up the good work mate, love your channel. Cheers Steve.

Hey Dad. I set up the wallet and sent a little btc as a test to the App and was fine. So moving forward any transfers i do from platforms or other cold wallets I just use the app ? The cold wallet turn on ? What actually will I be using the titan device for besides storing the keys ???? And on the app under profile when it’s asking for login/ sign in with email. What do I do there ?

Hey I found something interesting with the dock as it relates to firmware updates, can you just test inserting the MicroSD into the dock, then connecting power, and seeing if you can get the status light to turn blue? (Indicating that the MicroSD was successfully mounted) You don't need to have the Ellipal itself in the dock, as the issue is in the dock itself... Basically if the dock light just sits an does nothing for 5 seconds, before turning green, mounting the MicroSD has failed...

Yes, it seems that if the card is in the slot and the light is blue and I eject the card the docklight will turn green. If I try to reinsert the SD card, it remains green and does not turn to blue. If I unplug it and then plug it back in at that point with the card still in there, then it does turn blue.

That's interesting as some of the docks that I tested with wouldn't reliably turn blue even after being power cycled. I included a few minutes on it with a recent video but the summary is that I found that if I left the dock unplugged for about 5 minutes, it would generally work correctly (Blue light almost straight away) or, if I unplugged the power adapter from the wall (leaving it plugged in to the dock) it would often get it out of this glitched state. (And failing that, some power supplies seemed to work more reliably than others) @@CryptoDad

I'm helping a friend. He has stored his Crypto on his phone and he wants to transfer it to his newly purchased Ellipal 2.0. Any issues or other steps we neef to take because it isn't going from a traditional wallet?

I think, this kind of QR reading type devices has a weak point at Android app side. It can be possible to decompile the code and bypass the security/confirmation steps. If you have a phone that has installed and active application from a victim, it can be possible. (Maybe)

Thank you Crypto dad! I’ve learned so much from you. You’re my go to. Hey, I created my passphrase on the app by accident but I did only put the seed phrases on the Titan. Do I need to delete my account and start over? Can I do that. I’ve asked customer service 3 times but they don’t understand. They just keep sending the definition of hot and cold wallets. I really just want a cold wallet. Otherwise I really like it. Thanks! 🤩

You can delete the app from your phone. I know it's possible to generate a standalone wallet using the Ellipal app on your phone, but that's not really the best way to manage your cryptocurrency. You can simply delete the app and start over again. Make sure you generate your seed phrase on the hardware device, as I show in the video. And after you have reinstalled the app, go through the connection process.

Thank you! I’ve already entered the seed phrases in the Ellipal only and I entered the passphrase (both places) there too. I do I need to delete the account on the Ellipal too. If so can I create a new one? 😮

@@lauriemacmillan5412 so it sounds like what you did when you set up your hardware device was use the option that you already had a seed phrase. What do you want to do is a factory reset on your device if you wish to have the device generate a seed phrase. You’ll want to create a new wallet rather than using an existing seed phrase, I’m hoping that you haven’t put any crypto in there yet. If you have you’ll need to transfer it out of there before you do this. I found an article on how to do a hardware reset on the Ellipal www.ellipal.com/blogs/support/how-can-i-factory-reset-completely-erase-ellipal-titan

Great review but a little confusing for a newbie as the hardware wallet looks so much like the wallet on the phone. Do they have a desktop version of the wallet like Ledger Live you can connect to using scan codes? I know ledger live uses USB to connect but couldn't' they have a desktop wallet and use QR code similar to phone app to connect to desktop wallet?

Well, they do support MetaMask, which is a browser based interface. But they don’t have a standalone application anymore. They only support third-party apps, so they don’t even have a phone based app, let alone a desktop based app.

I erroneously changed XRP to non-BIP44. The XRP was visibly in the same location. When I tried to convert back to BIP44 the XRP didn't show up anywhere I knew to search. Only when I reconverted back to non-BIP44 is the XRP visible. I want to store the XRP elsewhere but it must be BIP44 per their help people. What am I doing wrong? Thank you much.

Hi, Question Crypto dad / community! Noticed you send BTC from the tangem wallet and Ellipal for small BTC fee. How is that so, For me its around $60 using my ledger through ledger live? I know the fees fluctuate but this seems very cheap even for 1 month ago! Any answers appreciated! :)

Yeah, the date of publication for the video was November 8 so it’s almost been two months since I posted the video my memories a bit fuzzy but I feel like I did that video before this latest run up. So bitcoin fees weren’t quite so high back then, but that’s just my estimation.

No overall set price for any particular crypto. Each wallet and each exchange bases their dollar value on a basket of exchanges. So it's never going to be entirely consistent. Basically, your crypto is only worth what you can get for it on the open market, depending on the exchange that you use.

It's strange because when I set the currency to USD, the balance matches with my other apps. However, when I switch it to EUR, the value differs from when I set my other apps to EUR.

What is the minimum amount of vechain thor I can transfer from ledger nano s. I'm trying to transfer 191,000 and it says not enough to transfer

When you're using a Vechain wallet, you'll need a little bit of Vechain in the in the main wallet in order to transfer your Thor. Very similar to an erc 20 token requiring Ethereum for gas fees. Perhaps you need to add some vet to your wallet.

If your wallet is not functioning properly, you can always use your back seed phrase to restore to a different wallet in order to regain access to your cryptocurrency. www.blockplate.com/blogs/blockplate/list-of-bip39-wallets-mnemonic-seed

Thank you for this video. It's mind-blowing to me that Ellipal has such poor instructions on how to use their product. For a first-time cold wallet user, using the mobile app and the hardware wallet back and forth is confusing. The hardware wallet has a 'receive' function and so does the mobile app. On the mobile app I added additional tokens not initially preinstalled (for example Radiant under Ethereum), but that doesn't show up on the hardware cold wallet. What also is messing with my head is that you send the coins to the mobile app and not the hardware wallet?

Yes, the instructions could be better, but crypto is never “on” your device. Crypto is stored on the blockchain. The device holds the private key for authorizing outgoing transactions. The app allows you to manage assets.

If I had to explain this to a newbie like myself I'd call the Ellipal mobile app the Wallet and the Titan hardware device a Keychain to access the wallet. @@CryptoDad

I tried a practice receive and send with my new ellipal titan. Received $25 worth bitcoin. When I went to send it out I could not because the fee to send it out is more than balance. Done with that wallet. Can’t afford trial runs.

Yes, crazy days. but blockchain fees. are primarily based on network activity. I was going to send $100 worth of crypto during my Saturday Night Live stream and the blockchain fee was going to be $35. But then I tried again the next morning and the blockchain fee was only $3. Go figure. Try to find a time of low activity. But definitely the smaller transactions have a much higher blockchain fee percentage wise. I agree, sending small tests is almost not worth it anymore. Unfortunately, it's still best practice to make sure you've got everything right before sending large amounts.

Honestly this new wallet just seems to introduce too many steps. Why can't a wallet have software built into it to work out the correct level one to use? This is just one of many examples I could give. Why expect noobs to know this? With so many steps I believe that this wallet may confuse as many people as it helps. It would appear that until the brainiacs that design these wallets actually ask someone who DOES NOT think in binary tabs what is required we will have to pretend that wallets like this are useful...and imho they are not. I am not rubbishing the Ellipal Titan wallet...I am rubbishing the thought processes that fail to embrace the reality that unless and until SOMEBODY designs a wallet that Mr Joe Average can use then Mr Average is going to avoid that wallet like the plague. Why doesn't somebody design a hot wallet to be used in conjunction with a cold wallet so that people can emulate what happens already...bank account = hot wallet leather wallet = cold wallet. It is not difficult at all but you have to stop thinking like a computer software designer and start thinking like most other people and not like a software designer.

I totally agree with you. Air-gaped wallets are difficult to use. But crypto aficionados are superstitious lot. They don't seem to trust USB cables, Bluetooth or NFC. Even though we're never transmitting the private key across those mediums anyway. It's simply the request and the authorization. The private key never leaves the device. So some people think that air-gap is the solution. But I totally get it. There are lots of wallets out there to choose from. Ledger & Trezor are somewhat easier to use. And wallets like Tangem are starting to get really popular because they are extremely easy to use. The problem with most newcomers is they feel that security is the main concern and then they get a wallet that's so difficult to use that they end up losing their crypto.

Read the Terms and conditions. The country of origin can shut down your crypto's if they deem you to be a problem. Remember, crypto is under international law.

Well, using that argument, I guess nothing is immune from being compromised (USB, Bluetooth, NFC, QR Codes etc). So the best you can do is try to be as safe and secure as possible. I mean, it's definitely better than a hot wallet

@@CryptoDad A QR code is totally down to trust that it is legitimate. You also need to have a fairly sophisticated device running a camera. Too many back and forth operations which can inevitably lead to mistakes. Everyone has this false impression that air gapped QR codes are the pinnacle of safety. They are just another gimmick. Simple is best.
