Discover the fascinating process behind carving this enchanting owl with me! I have been on an Owl carving spree! This one just turned out too cute not to make a video on!
Oh...also, what where those tracks? I have never seen a squirrel on our property, otherwise I might think squirrel? They looked to big for a chipmunk, but we have lots of chipmunks here! HELP?!?

As always, the detail on your sculptures is exquisite and we feel privileged to share the creation process with you. Thank you for making these videos. I am sure I am but one of a few hundred who wish we could be in your shoes and do what you do... Please make shorts showing all the beautiful sculptures we glimpse in the back. Raccoon tracks I’d say. The owl looks real nice, ever done an owl with like a mouse in its beak? This owl has that stance like before swallowing a mouse at least that was the first thing I seen after some detailing. I love watching you carve😊

That would be a wicked carving! I try to keep my inventory clean and generic so it can appeal to anyone, but if I ever get the opportunity to a feasting owl I’ll be all for it! I was sort of between small raccoon or squirrel for the tracks, we really do t have many squirrels around us tho 🤷🏼‍♀️

How do the Whisper series burrs handle gumming up? I carve mostly white pine, and it can really gum up the cheapo Harbor Frieght diamond burrs, and even my 1/8 shank Kutzall extreme flame burr. Would love a more detailed finish burr.
@TayMarie23
@TayMarie23 4 ай бұрын
They have performed much better than I was expecting, I highly recommend them and the green coarse burrs from saburrtooth! I have only cleaned the whispers once and I almost exclusively carve white pine, and they clean super easy because they are so fine. With the white pine try to avoid using the 2” of exterior sap wood when possible. Or at least try to keep detailed areas like the face out of the sap wood zone, will really help with build up on your burrs!
@ryan199948
@ryan199948 5 ай бұрын
Saber tooth and Kutzall didn’t think there was a need for very fine burrs. They are selling more than they thought they would. I love your cavings. You look like you’re having so much fun.
@TayMarie23
@TayMarie23 5 ай бұрын
Im always having a good time when carving! I was actually surprised at how much material the fine burr could remove, I mean nothing compared to the coarse but still quite a bit! It got caked up after awhile but I was also carving wet sticky pine, few swipes of the steel brush gets them clean in seconds though. Definitely a great product 👍🏻

@TayMarie23 burrrrrr now that's cold! It doesn't get that cold here in north Carolina. We might hit zero once a winter, but most mornings are in 20's. The heated socks are a little thick, some of my boots they won't fit in, But I can go from froze toes to warm and cozy in a few minutes with em. I mainly use them for fly fishing wading cold water, there is my waders so they stay dry and the Bluetooth I can turn them off and one with my phone. They also have a button on the socks. Anyways take care be careful and CARVE ON!

Love how your own turned out. I really like how you try to keep the poses interesting as well as your bases. I started Dremel carving last year and I love it so much, but I definitely want to make bigger pieces. So I finally bit the bullet. I bought a Skill MSA 70. No carving bars yet, but that will happen. I got an extra battery with a speed charger though. Also sprung for a Makita die grinder and a handful of Kutzall bits for it. Still waiting for the chainsaw and the die grinder. I had to cut down six trees on our property, so when they get here, I will have a lot to practice on. I also have an airbrush that was given to me, so I'll have to learn that too.Thanks for all your inspiring videos.😊

For someone who is new to this you have incredible talent..do yo like using that Oregon corded saw. I’m 66yrs old and thinking of trying carving myself.. that saw is cheap and quiet..what do you think
@TayMarie23
@TayMarie23 5 ай бұрын
Yes that Oregon saw is great, I think the 18” bar it comes with is a bit much for it though. I think a 16” bar would rip on that saw! They have the Cs1400 and Cs1500, both are great saws for the money. Some people find the cord annoying but I find recharging and swapping batteries more annoying 😂

I can't see any problems arising from having a neighbor that speaks out loud to themselves who happens to be incredibly skilled with a chainsaw. I like hearing your creative process. The tracks look a lot like a snow hare. Two back feet landing close together and they are long, front being more in line. They can climb trees to an extent but they can also jump 10 feet or more from a stand still. Tracks ending might only be a break. The gait is not from a predatory animal.
