I lived in Armenia for a while. The Armenian women are pretty conservative when it comes to courting. Also, for the most part, when you marry an Armenian, you marry the family as well. Armenia has two friendly borders, Georgia and Iran. Having lived there off and on over more than a decade, I've noticed that the women have adopted the western ways in many ways (good and some bad) and are very intelligent. In 2004, nearly twice as many women were in college or graduated as opposed to men. Also, the mob (organized crime) has almost as much power as the government. When trying to get an Armenian women out of the country to visit you (where ever you are from, except Russia), you will have many problems. It is very hard and probably would involve many bribes. I gave up but know someone who didn't and is happy. I would still go back and probably really enjoy it.

I didn't notice anyone being desperate in the video. Yes Armenia is landlocked and is not resource rich, but I wouldn't call them poor.

I'm an old native born American. I'm very well traveled in my own country and the unfriendliest people I have ever encountered are the older Armenians of Southern California. The younger Armenians not so bad but the older adults often impossible to deal with.
