The lore is quite complicated tbh, the pirate concept is constant, but there are also alternate realities, time travel, rebellion and other things, it’s not easy to follow, but their music is always so good

@@Yetti. honestly you can enjoy the music even without the lore. You might just miss some connections and details in the MVs and lyrics but the music stands really well on it's own. If you wanted to understand the lore more without investing too much time you can find some video summaries on YT or tiktok to have at least a fairly good idea but it's not indispensable imo. I'm too invested in it at the moment lol and it does add a bit of fun but i know for new fans or people looking into them it can be intimidating.

@@Yetti. Personally yes, especially concerning the bsides (bsides of the World series +++) because the allusions to the lore are way less subtle in some songs. For those tracks that are lore-heavy, I often listen to them as if I'm listening to the soundtrack of a movie (edit beginning from there) thanks to my knowledge of the lore. And I actually wonder if listening to them as if they're soundtracks doesn't contribute to me finding it easier to listen to them more regularly than some people who find these songs "too much" to put on their music rotation often

you should check out the b-sides of these albums. especially the newest one 'WILL' bc it has a lot of variety. you'll love it.

I think having a basic framework for the lore really enhances the enjoyment of the music and the MVs! Just reading what they have in the album diaries is enough. No need to read people’s theories imo

It would be amazing if you checked out more of the new album, but especially the 4 unit tracks. This is the first time Ateez has done unit tracks. I guarantee the unit tracks are completely different than you would expect. They are Matz by Hongjoong and Seonghwa, IT's You by Yeosang, San and Wooyoung, Youth by Mingi and Yunho and Everything by Jongho. This is also the first time since their pre debut song that they have all participated in writing lyrics. So please, I think you would really enjoy them and be surprised.

Hongjoong is my favorite too, even though I really like them all so much. 3:00 There are LAYERS to this song. Lore wise they are smuggling peppers to bring back sparks of emotion. It's also supposed to be a fun and different song that we can have fun listening to. If you're like those of us that didn't age past 12, 🌶️=🍆 in Korean slang and bouncy takes on a whole new meaning.😂
