Great video. Thanks for sharing. Brings back memories. My wife and I along with our three children (two more followed later) moved to the peninsula from Sydney in early 1979 and started a carpet cleaning business. We lived in Kippa-Ring for the first four years just behind the Captain Cook Tavern. It was very much still undeveloped then with the rubbish tip being along Klinger Rd where the PCYC is now. I remember the peninsular was the only place where shops remained open on Saturday afternoon but closed on Wednesday afternoon. The older kids all went to Kippa-Ring primary school and then Clontarf. We then moved to Woody Point where we lived until 1994. Got to have a lot of contact with people in the process of going into thousands of houses to clean their carpets and become 'immersed' in the community 'web'. Some were quite prominent and well-known names from owning businesses, medical practitioners etc. Even cleaned Mel Gibson's parents' carpets shortly after he had made the first 'Mad Max' film. I didn't know who he was at the time. They lived at a house on the northeast corner of Oxley Avenue and Arthur St.

The Kippa-Ring State School is in Elizabeth Avenue not Snook Street. Locals should know better.
