Unveiling the mystery of Ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities!
Ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities are often a mystery to the rest of us, observing their unique garments and religious practices, without knowing the meaning and motivation behind them. So, I took a tour of Hasidic Crown Heights, home to the thriving Chabad-Lubavitch orthodox Jewish community.
In this video we explore the basics of a kosher kitchen, marvel at hair inside a wig store, learn about the attire of orthodox men (think black hats and coats), discover the process of orthodox Jewish dating, see a Torah up-close, and observe the Chabad-Lubavitch HQ from the inside!
COMMENT! What else do you want to experience with me in NYC?

interesting fact about Kosher meat, because of the strict standards in which Kosher meat is butchered, cleaned, drained, and prepared for packaging and sale, the USDA does not require nearly as much oversight over Jewish butchers because their standards of cleanliness are legally defined as far beyond the basic requirements of the USDA and there has never been any reason for the USDA to change that exception in over 100 years.

Absolutely 💯 correct ❤ I firmly believe that eating Kosher is the best and most healthy way to eat. Many non-kosher eaters have so many yummy troubles due to the foods they eat and the way they eat. I have some friends that were interested in eating kosher like myself and once they did they noticed how much better they felt with their digestion, etc.

But don't you find that this lack of assimilation impacts lifelong experiences, in that it isolates you from other cultures? I'm not certain how many members of the Hasidic community opt to leave, but when they do life in the United States must be for them really challenging.

4:02 The women buy wigs that match their own hair color. But, they wear wigs to cover their own hair, so that no one will see their own hair except for their husbands.......but they're buying wigs that look like their own hair. Seriously, WTH??? Then why wear wigs? My husband & his family are Jewish, and my MiL wears wigs all the time, and let me tell you, those wigs are exact duplicates of her own hair (color, style, cut). She said she's wearing wigs to be modest, and not have anyone except my FIL know what her real hair looks like, but yet she buys wigs that are identical to her real hair. This is just plain asinine.

I would like to interject this conversation to remind everyone to please be polite and respectful of cultural differences. I welcome genuine, nonjudgmental curiosity to spark, meaningful conversations. However, some comments here are making assumptions and judgments, rather than truly looking to learn. To be clear, wigs are not part of my own background or future. I am not joining the conversation about wigs in this particular thread of comments because it is clear that the tone here is not open-minded. The standard of behavior in my corner of the internet includes respect. If you would like to engage in conversation kindly, I would absolutely love to hear from you! 🤍🤍

FUN FACT: Check your food for a Kosher symbol. Why is so much food in the U.S. certified Kosher when Jews are a 2% minority? 🤔
@neljay9149
@neljay9149 8 ай бұрын
Probably due to the same reason most foods are certified as halal in the UK when the uks pop of Muslims is 5%... they don't want to alienate consumers. If a company manufactures food and it has nothing contradictory to Jewish dietary law; why would they not certify it as kosher and cash in on that 2% of the population?

@rkreznik If we are truly talking business, then you must consider the fact that these food companies have finance and accounting departments that have likely considered the cost of certifications against the revenue they are likely to incur. @@hava-media I know enough. Jews make up 2% of the U.S. population, pressure companies to "certify" their products for a fee (to appease 2% of the U.S. population) and occasionally "recertify" for a fee. This is a cultural tradition. If you are genuinely curious, I'd advise you research the custom with an open mind and adopt an attitude of appreciation for the diversity of cultures in the world.

The video is very informative and I enjoyed watching it. They seem like nice enough people but if their ancestors had converted to Baptists or Harry Krishnas instead of Judaism 800 years ago their lives would have been so much simpler. Our lives would have been simpler too. There wouldn't be protests about Gaza at universities. We could still have prayer in public schools in the United States. We wouldn't have a federal reserve. We wouldn't have all of this gender confusion stuff. Just saying. The real mothers of the Ashkenazi people were four Slavic women who lived in Eastern Europe eight centuries ago. Hava whatever you are , whether a real Sephardic Jew or an Ashkenazi convert you are a very lovely and attractive young lady!

Baffles me how antisemites blame EVERYTHING on the Jewish people spread German 1930s Antisemitic Slanderous Tropes, but are delusional to defend their “opinion” as “true not antisemitic”. You people just want to have a scapegoat minority to slander and make yourselves as a superior Ethnicity/Race not unlike Germans of 1930s Reich. How shameful.

@chetanjoshi2159 I honestly have no idea what you’re trying to say. I’d like to redirect this conversation to the intention of this video, which is simply highlighting one of the many cultures that exist in the melting pot of New York City. In my corner of the internet, cultural conversation is approached from the perspectives of curiosity and appreciation. Please keep your comments respectful. Thank you!

My God don’t require me to wrap something around my arm, or wear a hat, grow my hair a certain way or face a certain direction, or my wife either. God only asks EVERYONE to be worshipped in spirit and TRUTH.

Your phrasing “My God” is great- people have different religious beliefs, and that’s okay. You have a right to yours, but that’s what they are- YOURS. I ask that you continue to maintain your own beliefs while respecting others’. Thank you! 🤍🤍

This video covers the culture and traditions straight from the source of someone who lives it. There are some variations in traditions even among similar communities, however. That does not make this information wrong; this video is simply focused on the Chabad community of Crown Heights. If you are a reputable source of information and would like to share your credentials, please join the conversation in a kind, meaningful way.

Excuse me, but this kind of comment is unacceptable to post in my space on the internet. This video is a space where we have been welcomed into a community willing to share their traditions and customs-- and many communities are not so generous. Just as this video has been directed with a spirit of interest, respect, and appreciation, I expect the same in return from viewers. Curiosity is good. Appreciation is great. Respect is a necessity. I'd love you to participate in the conversation here, but please reserve unkind/inconsiderate comments and instead only comment on my videos when you have something meaningful to contribute. 💙
