Hi, I've setup 180 liter tank (3 x2 feet) size. Planted landscape and have 2 pair of discus and 2 pair of red angel and 3 pair of gourami and 2 pair of siamese algae fish and a pair of fighter fish. Is this too crowded? It's almost a two months and going well. I feed twice a day and food gets disappeared quickly, but I put a little more since gourami and angel eat faster, leaving discus to hunt for remaining at later stage. The algae eaters were 1/2 inches when I got and now its almost 2 inches. Any help and guidance would be much sought after.

You seem to be doing fine, you may have to slowly separate the fish as they grow bigger and they will fight for territory and food

What is the reason for using sponge filter and not other type of filter. A big eye opener I learnt from you today especially about discuss behaviour. 👍 Really appreciate this.

Bro as far as I know sponge filter provides gentle flow . When we are quarantining we are looking for fish with ailments etc so a weak or sick fish if any will find it difficult to swim in a canister filters strong flow. I think we can also use a good hang on filter but a sponge filter is cheap and provides good oxygenation than a hang on

sir abhi beta fish tank ki planning kr rha hu aur aap yahan discuss ka kida aur lga diye. ek to NCR me fishes aur saman khojna v muskil. before 4 year i was in kolkata for 9 years. very easy to finding anything related to fish. i request to u and still water aquatics that think about NCR region u will also get some business here not to much but little. i have to say sir, ur ideas was fantastic, as u advice about pearling the plant, now my plants r pearling, even in NCR region my neighbour come to me to see the pearling of the plant, they r very excited and tell, this should see the child also. now i am famous in my area, its all bcz of ur guidlines, before this my cichlid fish tank famous but now no one will see cichlid tank in front of planted tank

The fishless cycling of a new tank needs an ammonia source for the bacteria to establish. Nitrifying bacteria will not establish in an absence of nitrogenous compounds. it is like asking people to come to a restaurant that is not serving any food. The best way to do this is to get cycled media from fellow hobbyist friends or a fish pet store. Every other piece of information was spot on.

Hello Mr.Mayur..i am Nilanjan from Dubai. Your avid fan..i am in process of setting up a planted discus tank. Got the tank already with nice sump. Will take my time to set it up according to your kind suggestions. Two key questions 1. Should i quarantine the new fishes in a hospital tank as the main tank itself is new and needs to be cycled ( at least 3 weeks) and secondly how do i manage CO2 flow for plants as i have never ever done it for any of my previous tanks..would really appreciate your kind guidance..i thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful lessons..waiting for your suggestions

सर, आप ने होसपिटल टेंक के बारे मे छोटी छोटी बहूत अच्छी जानकारी दी है, पर सर हम जब कोईभी नई मछली घर पर लाये तब हमे मछली ओ को ईस तरहा हमे होसपिटल कोरोनटाईन करके देखभाल करनी होगी?

Thank you so much 😀 It is always best to have. small hospital tank and quarantine the fish before, putting them in your tank, this will keep the fish healthy

Sir I think you could have added these points... 1) The tank doesn't cycle automatically.. Either we have to add the beneficial bacteria manually or follow fishless cycle by introducing a source of ammonia. 2) Covering the bottom of the tank and three sides with white vinyl so that the fish doesn't get stressed because of the reflection 3) Water Parameters: everyone should have a TDS and a PH meter compulsory and maintain the TDS and pH within the specified range. Didn't mean to tell you wrong but some suggestions that would help some novice hobbyists.. Thank you.
