Canister, because more people use canisters and more people are interested in learning about them, and you could teach errbody about setting them up. I think the idea of a planted discus tank is great, because people like me want to do a planted discus tank, but we're intimidated because we've heard they're super hard to keep!

a sump is the best way to go for discus and planted tank super easy to clean, more water volume space to put all your heater, i want to put discus at the beginning but i go with rainbows i really love my rainbows

It's about the challenge for me on the discus. I'm not sure about the canister, sure easier but not as fun. I can always make another video on how to use canister but I never did cause I figured it's a easy thing to do lol

That old tank is going to be a lot of work but sounds like will be a lot of fun to do... well watch . You work and I will watch lol and go with a sump and using what ya already have on hand is always a great way to learn from as well ,,, 😊 can’t wait

I bought a tank thinking it was a 120 as well. Then I measured it a few months later and it was 2” less in depth than a 120. So yeah...I was jipped by 10 gallons.

@@TheWaterBox I think we've just been unfortunate to get a smaller tank advertised as a 120g, lol! I've seen a lot of 120g for sale and they have the measurements on the tank. The tank I bought was a used tank from a LFS. So there was no measurement sticker on the tank.

Building a new stand so you can build a sump is a lot of work. Get a sunsun hw5000. Job done. And build an inline reactor also. Maybe inline heater build also.

A Sunsun 3000 should work fine. I want to go with a sump for the main purpose it's doing something new. Don't mind the work. Thanks for the comment.

Can you make a video on how to clean and remove scratches on glass aquariums?

That require lots of sanding and polishing. It's not that hard though if the scratches aren't deep. If it's deep I'm not sure. I'll have to research that.

Awesome project. I think tank sizes are include glass (outside), so inside tank volume are usually smaller. I like the idea with sump, if you gonna use co2, in line co2? Keep up the good work.

Get video as always brother. I just setup a new 75 Discus tank with 6 Discus and Cardinal Tetras and a 150 with a homemade sump and 125 Brilliant Rummynose Tetras so I'm very curious about this series. Thanks for sharing and as always...Do what you do if it works for you.

I really want to see you pull this off. I have many successful planted tanks and a 220 full of beautiful discus. However I can not grow anything in the 83 degree F water that the discus need. I have tried everything and every plant and I still fail. Good luck.

Do it bro discus are awesome I have a 75 I need to set up as well they spawn and laid eggs again. Yesterday but I’m leaving it alone ain’t trying to breed them too hard I just can’t get the eggs to hatch even in a breeder tank they still ate the eggs on the very day when it’s close to hatching

The Water Box Man I’ve been trying 4th time laying then giving up just gonna raise them lol I do 1-2 water change a week for them lol and winter time comes its sucks but I have water sitting with filter running I’m good

@@TheWaterBox Good.save yourself heartache. Even George Farmer stopped and has never done them again. I doubt they thrive on Co2 either. I always forget to add that into the equation. There is a Dutch vid of somebody who felt crushed his planted tank that was perfect..turned into a Discus death trap,and it was an expensive loss. He told me I was right. Yes,sand,lights,other fish...in the AMAZON..put them in water boxes and what they cant get away from...wears them down. The best Discus are in breeder style setups. Sparse. Just the way it is...long term.

@@TheWaterBox So Chung, I'm looking at setting up a paintball C02 system on my new 29 gallon planted community tank. Any suggestions, tips, brands to avoid? I watched the entire C02 series over again, and I know you have gotten some stuff from china and it was hit or miss. Anything you would recommend (USA or China made) that is fairly bullet proof but wont break the bank?

@@stormtrooper2010 if I have the CO2 paintball you can look on Amazon for the CO2 regulator paintball, for the diffuser if you have a canister filter buy a CO2 inline for better dissolution, if I have to go in tank get the one sell on greenleafaquarium atomic something

@@416guppys9 Thinking the Inline option, just need to figure the plumbing and attachments. The Fluval plumbing is the ribbed tubing, just dont want ANY leak issues. Thanks for the info! Do you have any specific inline diffuser brand suggestions, OR brands to avoid?

@@stormtrooper2010 I buy on Amazon the one look exactly like the inline diffuser from greenleafaquarium and I don't have any problems I don't know if the one on greenleafaquarium is better, but I'm happy with the one I buy on Amazon

I’ve got a 180 with a mix of live and fake plants The live plants are doing great and I soon will be gone removing fake plants and adding more live Wanted to try discus but went with dwarf gourami and angels instead Is it possible to mix discus in also?

I think discus fish need really warm pristine low ph water. Your other fish and plants would have to adapt to those parameters and things may go Haywire. Good luck

@@Toneloke-xm9jv I don't think I hear my fish keepers keeping discus in ph 7.5 and temperature 78 and they look amazing healthy, I think the more you try to keep the parameters perfect for discus the more problems you get all fish like consistent when you try to hard don't work

All depends on the stock you have and the filtration system you have if you can you nitrate 0 with the stock you have you can try with a pair

Yes consistency is the key. I've never kept discus just had friends who have and learned a few things over the years. I know some discus are touchier than others especially wild-caught ones.

Fighting a losing battle. Discus hate bright lights,substrates and anything like a community tank. They hate all that and water less than 80f. Young ones like 82-84f or so. Discus also are happiest when they pair off and that pair has the tank to themselves. Just the two of them. Any standard way of keeping them will only give you heartaches and dead fish.

@@TheWaterBox Also,they might last a couple of years in the standard way..fooling you that you got it down!...then the white feces...they stop eating. The biggest,oldest and even fat and healthy Discus are in breeders tanks with dim light,their partner,and a slate-lol.
