How cool would it be if we could one day regulate our atmosphere, control the climate and maybe even blast threatening asteroids into stardust? Well, to do those things would require A LOT of energy. Essentially, we'd have to be able to harness all the power from the Sun. According to the Kardashev scale that ranks planets according to their ability to harness the energy from their star and even their galaxy, that would make Earth a Type II civilization. What does that mean and how far away are we from achieving that level of uber energy capacity? You'll have to tune in to find out as Peter and Richard welcome back Michio Kaku, physicist and science communicator extraordinaire to help us better understand "What If we became a type II civilization?"
NOTE: What If Discussed is on hiatus. The former producer and co-host of "What IF Discussed" asked and tried to answer lots of question on the show along with the top names in science. Join him now as he looks to go deeper, ask bigger questions with world thought leaders with nuance, objectivity and context on "A Third Way". - / @athirdwaywithrichardg...

Imma try not to make this comment lengthy but the fact that we are even discussing a type II civilization should be an embarrassment to our scientists la concha rule everyone chiefs ignoring a certain pointyou would if you did everything energy-wise to become a type 1 civilization you are not a type 1 civilization if you are the most inefficient people on earth just because you generate the energy of a planet that's not me that you are a type 1 civilization when you are 90 to 100% efficient in the energy that you are consuming that would be of the Earth and because of the greedy nature of mankind and sell acting like a virus type 1 civilization will not truly be achieved this is the mindset of Nikolai

Nicolai kardashev wrote about all of these types of civilizations in the Kardashiev scale was never meant to be used as a means of how much power can be created generated in been consumed this scale was meant to be use as how much power can only be created and consumed but stored and efficiently created and consumed and store if you can Master efficiency you have the means of moving up the scale

I’m kinda envious I won’t be around to see this kind of technology, even if I lived to see a hundred i still won’t live long enough to see that kind of technology, I bet it’s going to be amazing and truly something remarkable people of the future will get to witness, like I can’t fathom the kind of technology the 22nd century will bring about but I think the next 30-100 years will bring about some pretty cool technology as well and it’ll be in my lifetime if I’m lucky enough to live to see it

Especially as Scientists assume so much that Suns are the one Energy-Source no Race could ever ignore, that it 's mentioned when the Fermi Paradox is bought up. Thiiiis is kinda problematic. Problematic to spread as hard fact. It might be totally different. I dont say Suns are useless, but it might be more than a little early to call them 'the big thing'. Type 4 is multi galactic, type 5 is universal, type 6 is multi universal, and type 7 is parallel for able to go to parallel worlds or other realms. It is believed that absolute immortality is discovered during type 6. Type 7 civilizations are basically gods of creation. To be able to harness water for fuel is a huge step in the scale, that has already been discovered but the man/researcher mysteriously died along with the blueprints.

There is just one big problem with this "judging by energy-use". It might just be totally untrue. The answer to the Fermi Paradox. There is a beautiful loving Universe many people claim they experience when they are undergoing an NDE. Long before any Advanced Civilization gains the technology necessary for Interstellar Travel - they find a way to escape to that Universe. In other words, it is technologically easier to get to that other very pleasant and safer place, than it is to develop the Type II Civilization Technology necessary for Interstellar Travel. This explains why we have found no sign of an Advanced Alien Civilization anywhere in our Universe.
