This is my very first time listening to a "podcast" style video, I don't know why but as soon as I saw this video on my recommendations list, I downloaded the mp3 file and began listening to everything whilst doing some errands. I've got to say, even though i finished everything I had to do as soon as the video ended, it left me wanting to work more, just in order to listen to more of these!

Haha this was a really fun talk, I enjoyed it. I noticed there is a lot of focus on seasonal things in Japan. I would be interested to hear your recommendations for different seasonal foods to try, so people visiting in a particular season will know what to look out for

I totally agree with you about the summer in Tokyo or most of the places except the northern Honshu or Hokkaido - the major reason I moved to Canada, now living in Vancouver. But I miss Japan very much.

I think it really depends on where you live in Japan to which seasons you enjoy the most. Like if you live in a region of Japan that doesn’t get snow in winter it’s pretty boring and ugly looking, but for me winter is my favorite season because I live in a snowy region where I can partake in many winter activities. Autumn is second because hiking in early to mid Sep. when autumn arrives is just awesome. Summer is 3rd because it’s not unbearably hot were I live and I can go camping and more hiking. Spring will always be my least favorite season in Japan because it’s like winter in non-snowy regions; ugly and boring.

to me, sakura almost has a cinnamon-y kind of taste. a little... spicy? i've only been to japan during spring (once, during hanami - another time, a little after golden week) so i'm super excited to be able to go back this fall to experience everything again but in a different season.

Whenever I see those kind of videos and read through the comments I feel like I'm the only person loving summer in Japan (as a tourist obviously). I enjoy nighttime more in general and and for me those warm and humid nights have something magical. Also you can start nearly any conversation with 暑いですね? The cicadas can be quite annoying though. xD

Visited Japan 3 times and I somehow have managed to visit twice during summer weather (once was september last year and summer went on longer than expected) and once in winter. As an Australian the winter in Japan was a little brutal, especially since I went up to Hokkaido for a week. The summer...not the best either; I'm from New South Wales and our summers are dry heat, no humidity, so getting smacked in the face with 80% humidity was... a testing experience. Especially trying to figure out ways to get my make-up to stay on and hair to not frizz out and you know, not sweating through my clothes. Had wanted to visit Japan next year during Spring but probably won't be able to, so the plan is to go in Autumn (Oct - Nov) instead. I think every tourist to Japan that wants to revisit multiple times should visit during every season. It gives you a real complete image of Japan and it's people in all the seasons. Plus you learn nifty tricks to take back home to keep warm/cool!

Been twice there, during the early spring... I'd want to experience all seasons one day. But probably, summer is what I wanna see... the least. xD Festivals would be interesting and all that, but I already live in a tropical country, my hometown is super hot and humid for most of the year, and despite living most of my life there I never got used to it and I still have a hard time being there during summer when I visit my mom. Since we're on this very subject though, I have a question for TC people and perhaps other commenters - are there cities close to Tokyo that are higher up the mountain and have a less humid more stable/cooler climate even during the summer? You see, I moved from my hometown across state. My hometown is around sea level with lots of rivers nearby, so humidity goes through the roof there. Here in my current city is like almost 2000 meters up, climate is way more temperate, it rains a lot but in regular days it's drier, so far more bearable. It's also kind of an exceptional city in the region and not very common in Brazil per se because most of the bigger cities in the country are at low elevations. I'm kinda trying to pinpoint my dream city in Japan if I'm able to fullfill my dream of living there one day... xD

Canadians love to exaggerate how cold it is in Canada. They'd have you believe they all live in the arctic circle. Meanwhile 80% + of their population lives within a 2-3 hour drive of the US border and 1/3 of the population lives in Southern Ontario, where it is no colder than the Midwestern or Northeastern USA. Another large portion lives in southwestern British Columbia, which is warmer than more eastern cities on similar latitudes. (recall they had issues with a lack of snow for the 2010 Olympics)

@@aeryhs He is very smart in how he sometimes comes of as innocent. If you actually watch his stream, it is very sexual, degrades the women he is with and goes through multiple girls objectifying and degrading them by letting the fans say horrible things to them, for the sake of his stream. It's awful
