We had the pleasure of receiving Mrs Evelyne Genta a couple of days ago while she was in Geneva promoting the Sotheby's auction that pays tribute to the work of her late husband the star designer Mr Gérald Genta.
Mrs Genta tells us quite a lot of interesting unknown stories around the creation of some main designs of the watch industry. This will of course include watches such as AP’s Royal Oak, Patek’s Nautilus without forgetting the Polerouter of Universal Genève.
Mrs Genta talks about her husband’s relation with Mr Georges Golay, charismatic CEO of the Audemars Piguet in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and the brief that gave birth to the Royal Oak.
Three auctions will be held for a total of 100 small paintings, including the originals design for the Royal Oak as well as the Nautilus. They will be held in three different locations, Geneva, Hong Kong and New York.
Enjoy and Viva Watchmaking!

It is said "Behind every great man is a great woman".... Mrs Genta is a true lady. I love that she doesn't shy away from her husbands very humble beginnings, their struggles or regrets. The fact that her husband worked daily is an inspiration to all that greatness doesn't come easy.

First I thought Mrs. Évelyne Genta was overly talking about the cult of her former husband but after I heard the goal of supporting young designers with her foundation the tides turned for me! I think it's a great goal to bring fresh air into the Swiss watch industry. Because I completely agree that especially the big brands didn't come up with truly disrupting designs during the last decades. Thanks so much for another great interview, WATCHES TV!

Awesome interview. One of the first watches I ever got was a Polerouter, it was my grandfather's watch. Love it, microrotor, beautiful finishing. Was really excited when I found out it was a Genta design, by then I was into the hobby and looking for an affordable Genta designed watch, not knowing I already had one.

@@WATCHESTVcom Yes. The approach should be to use NFT technology to do just that, preservation and information checks. Not the other way around and make BS artwork and launder money with it. I love how she use the latest tech for this auction. It may also pay tribute to how Genta looks forward than backward.
