Discworld Documentary

RIP Sir Pratchett. As a student I had the great honour to meet and interview Terry. When I initially asked him to do the documentary he was both professional and friendly and immediately agreed - giving me his private number to arrange the details. Everyone from his side I met along the way were equally friendly and accommodating - I even had dinner one night at Bernard the Cunning Artificer's house with Bernard, his wife and Terry's friend Rob Wilkins.

Filmed c2002. Some of the sound is a bit dodgy - this happened as part of the transfer process from physical tape to DVD.

Discworld became so popular for the simple reason that Sir Pterry was utterly brilliant and a God among authors!

For me the voice of the books, Stephen Briggs, as much as I like to read them. I love listening to Stephen reading them. And how could any list not include Vimes and Vetinari. For me the most important characters. I'm glad they did not say which is the best book, which is of course Night Watch. Oh! Nice video by the way - stored it away on my pc to watch again on a rainy day when I want to smile.

I'm getting into discworld (I've read mort, going postal, making money and I'm on raising steam). But Moist Von Lipwig is immediately my favorite character in literature. Just watching him talk ahead of everyone else is so enjoyable

Strange with a list of top characters that don't include Vimes! And a couple others. Tiffany Aching wasn't written yet, so that omission is understandable, but to include Greebo and not Vimes? My personal list would also have to include Vetinari.

Agree, could be that this wasn’t recorded until Vimes, Moist and Tiffany had been invented. I love so many of Terry’s characters, they all save the day, which is very satisfying

I'd like the discworld to exist. At the rate VR and internet technologies are progressing there may already be plans in place to create a virtual world for us to explore and interact with.

Hi, there. Carrot from volunteer dwarf,who is well over six foot tall. Leaps and bounds up the ladder the dizzying Heights of the Watch "the Night Watch". From vice constable, to constable, to corporal, to sergeant and captain. I haven't read all of them yet, he could be King in one book. What else can I say, but I do like the witches. There adventures, there knowing that, without a broomstick they haven't got the time, to save the day. And a good old cup of tea. Moral of their philosophy is, see what the other bugger does first, then correct it, by well based judgement. In my point of view. Also the dog, the talking dog, a spy dog: oh oh bone Greebo. C. M. O. T. Dibbler, what can I say the only thing I could say is don't eat the Sausage's. G .. Goofus a small God... Check out some of my other comments on the a guide to Discworld.

Is there only me and one other guy going to point out that Colour Of Magic was written in 1983 not 1987? By 1987 STP had already released Light Fantastic (86) and both Equal Rites and Mort (87) already off to a good start
