I think The Phoenix also gave the King with Gauntled his shine, making "King Smashes" more versatile and Noob Friendly. Also, the king is the hero whose stats increse more with the levels, making the new hero levels coming from new THs rising his strength considerably.

I always used to upgrade king first in when i upgrade town halls (my queen is level 60 and king is 75 at th13 seriously💀) What i want to say is that king is a funneling troop in my opinion and with the "recent" equipment update he became a more variaty of usage hero He has more damage than queen (from watching pro tournaments i think, idk cz my queen is underleveled but also my king's equipment is underleveled too) Overall: i prefer king because funneling is the key to the win🔥

Not the best hero but certainly better than what he used to be before equipment. Warden, Royal Champ are much better imo as they support troops and target defense. I can generally forgo having king and still 3 star for substitutions such as siege machines. However, you can notice significant difficulty when missing Warden and then Royal champion. I'd say they are 1 and 2 while King and Queen are equal as they are useful in different ways.

Nah warden is the best hero King and queen are basically neck and neck now though, mostly because of the gauntlet.

The worst hero in the game is the grand warden.

The King is still worse than Queen or Warden. The difference however is far smaller than before the Gauntlet was introduced.
