The term "coon" has several different meanings in the US. The word historically has been used as a racial slur to insult black people by disparagingly comparing them to raccoons (raccoons are a small scavenger mammal common in the US that often try to knock over and eat from human garbage bins). I think (and really hope) that this slur isn't used much anymore Historically "coon" was also used to refer to a racoon. I don't think the term is used that much anymore (likely to avoid being perceived as using the slur), but there could be some regional use still. The term "coon" can also refer to a breed of hound dog often used for hunting other animals (coon dog). Toast and Sydney said there is a cat breed, too, which I didn't know. The sign in the video wasn't referring to the slur. It was referring to the hunting dog breed (I'm guessing pointing to a pet store). But, it took Sydney and Toast a minute to figure that out because they weren't familiar with that dog breed. Your question is not offensive at all. Figuring out the cultural context of words that have multiple meanings in a foreign language is hard. I wouldn't be able to understand a video in Portuguese, much less try to understand what kinds of comments were perceived as offensive in Brazil.

'Coon' is a slur for black people. That's why they looked up Maine Coon afterwards, to see if there was a reason that word was on the sign.

The word was "coon" which was an old caricature with white actors doing blackface and making fun of black people. The word comes from Raccoon, which in itself is bad, because it's saying that "black people are dirty animals" It's not okay to use this language today (in this context - like Sydney said, Maine Coon is a cat breed)
