The biggest thing is that too many kids get into influencers too early. We have ten year olds that start parasocial relationships and don't really realize what's happening. Even sixteen year olds, if they come from a not great background, are really lonely, or just a little too socially awkward, it's too easy to start seeing Streamers as their "gods," like tweens did for celebrities before KZfaq was even a thing. It was easier for them to distance themselves since it's clearly not possible to even talk to their favorite celebs, but now if you pay enough money, your message goes straight to the influencer, you can see them on discord chats, etc.

As someone who dated for 1 and a half year a minor without knowing it when I was 19 (she told me her age before I did, and said she was 19, and after we broke up she told me the truth. We are the best friends to this day funny enough), I can comfirm that it is not your fault at all when someone lies about their age. HOWEVER, the way he excused himself about it only proves to me that he DID know she was a minor, and there is no way a man of his age doesn't make any type of confirmation about her age. I know this because since my sister was born I have taken y role of a big brother too seriously and catched some pedos that tried to get her (thankfully she is aroace so she doesn't fall for sexual talks cus it causes her nothing), as well as working with my current partner to keep minors safe from predators in her family friendly roleplay servers because she was a victim when she was little. If that was the case, a former pedo is indeed still a pedo. Is way too rare for one to actually stop messing with minors. In my case is not like it because there was no prior knowledge on my end and it wasn't driven by sexual intentions. I had a romantic distance relationship, we broke up because I wasn't giving much of myself into the relationship, and also it was her choice to break up with me because she lied to me and felt guilty, but couldn't tell me about it. I got to know 2 years after breaking up, and I ws angry and got sick for around 2 weeks straight. We are friends because we talked about it as adults and forged a friendship.

I'm hypersexual and always talk to people in those tones in places like IMVU (my partner allows it cus she is ace and we are bonded emotionally), and whenever the person results to be a minor I delete EVERYTHING (flirting mostly, unless they sent something without my prior concent. I always want to check the waters to not get in trouble for lies or hidden info, so I get the spicy shit on hold), block the person and report it explaining the situation. I understand that in this online era is really hard to know who is behind a screen, but you not willing to know or knowing but not caring is borderline disgusting. That's why there is a procedure in this type of things. Not messing with married people unles poly or open WITH PROOFS, not messing with minors, always act under concent, and always be sure about the previous points.

Context: 17 came from the legal breakdowns people were watching, and apparently misunderstanding or misrepresenting. Doc was 35 at the time, the accusation is a minor. So the legal conversation around this incident was that Doc was "talking to a minor, who was atleast 17 and still under age if she was 17.95 years old .... And people ran with that as a definite age instead of the oldest possible age. - hope this helps ❤

I know there are real eyes behind a lot of social media platforms. I had a friend who used to work at a department in Google that had to watch and flag potentially harmful and/or dangerous videos that people upload. And a few friends saw some really fucked up shit. Same goes with Facebook since Facebook also has video uploads. There's a lot of legality and private confidentiality behind these positions, but some times too much is TOO MUCH.
