They can’t legally compel him to answer so they are making it obvious that he isn’t. By not taking responsibility he is actually hurting himself and the president. When Republicans ask for a number including the chairman him delaying shows his incompetence and lack of duty. If you are getting mad then Republicans are doing their job because you should be mad. No one, Republican, Democrats or independent should want this guy heading up DHS. He actually making the FBI look good by default because they are giving Congress more information than he is.

@@rylanmalis1162 I wouldn’t say that is wholly true. Yes he is being protected but once that protection is removed he can easily find himself in court or impeached. There is also another side of this: he is the weak link that the Republicans can go after and use his actions to illustrate the injustices that are currently going on. There is always a cost.

100,000 American citizens are "gone" per year, by the massive amount of drugs that are allowed to cross, and close to a 1000 "gone" illegals this year as well. This isn't about humanitarian reasons. Not at all. All these hearings are great for exposing, shows either incredibly smart they are at deflecting and distracting to allow for continued corruption or it shows complete utter incompetence and a desperate need for cleaning house of employees (such as twitter). Either way it’s good the public can see how all these people serve no beneficial purpose in the roles they are in. However enough exposing has happened, what’s the next course of action? Can these people be fired? If so the hearings are no longer needed fire them, if we can’t fire them due to bureaucracy can we defund them entirely? If not due to bureaucracy then what? At some point ya gotta draw a line in the sand and start making some calls to action. The people are growing tired of this game and we want action. People will only be patient so long before revolts happen.

The primary job of any administration director-level official is to prosecute administration policy. Their secondary job is to take the fall, when that administration policy turns out to be garbage. The thing is, one could acknowledge that; because administration policy is that no one gets slowed, much less stopped, at the border; the entirely porous border is as secure as the administration wants it and thus, the border is 'under control'; on a technicality.
