@@-Dubel- Winsor & Newton Gouache is made using gum arabic binder like better watercolors. It does not use a starch binder or "wallpaper paste" as you claim. Some types of "jelly gouache" and scholastic tempera may use a starch binder, but not the brand shown here.

I used to have the same issue when I started, I have two tips for you, first is don’t worry about the end result just keep adjusting your values and colours and you’ll reach to a point where you can not go any further and that I feel is a finished painting,it’s a journey! you can try to make a collection of works that you completed by making it a habit, I usually don’t leave any of the pieces in between except when I’m painting in my sketchbook or experimenting. But you also have to be aware of your limitations. When I’m really stuck,I don’t try to paint the impossible, leave it there are thousands of subjects which you can paint always and feel great.
