Reason #1 - Door Latch Assembly: In the event that the door latch on your dishwasher suddenly stops working, your first task will be to locate and inspect the door catch at the top of the dishwasher tub. It is normally able to be adjusted and if it isn’t in the right position, it can cause the dishwasher to stop working or cause the door latch to not activate properly. A misaligned latch assembly can also cause the door not to close tightly, resulting in leaks.

Reason #2 - Door Handle: The door handle is made out of plastic and is located on the outside of the dishwasher, usually in the middle of the control panel. There are several different styles, but they all look similar and serve the same purpose. If the handle is broken, it may not respond correctly or cause the latch to release the door properly.
Reason #3 - Door Latch Actuator: The door latch actuator is the plastic part that links the door handle to the latch. The actuator is found in the middle of the control panel on the door across from the strike. You’ll need to open up the control panel to check this part.
