Not only was the singing and her facial expressions perfect, but also the speaking parts. The speaking parts of this song are particularly important and she nails them too, with just the right amount of wonder or longing expressed in her voice.

With characters as iconic as Ariel, it's not just about having the voice or the look. The actor has to embody the spirit of the character. Voice and beauty aside, Halle has this angelic presence about her that makes it all come together. Can't wait to see her performance in the film.

I have very little faith in the Disney live adaptations these days so I don't know what the movie is going to be like BUT I know the music and, specifically Halle's vocals, are going to be the highlight of the film. She has such an angelic and clear voice--definitely the kind of voice you'd imagine for a Disney princess. So proud of her and fingers crossed the movie ends up being as good as her vocals are.

Black people knew. Because we were aware of her angelic presence. How she talks, and conducts herself. If you followed her before the Fame you knew she always had this light air and energy around her. Her ability to sing just takes her to another Galaxy. But racists online just wanted to reduce this choice to her melanin when in reality her melanin is still a gift and her voice is an absolute treasure and that's what ultimately got her the role was her skill and talent.
