Up until then (1984), both networks were originally owned by "Warner Amex", itself a subsidiary/joint venture of Warner Bros and American Express. Unless you're referring to when Viacom and it's subsidiaries were merged with Paramount in 1994.

Daryl Hannah was something else back in the day... Satellite eclipse at 19:14? _You and Me, Kid_ looks vomit inducing, but then we prefer _Charlie and Lola._ The IBA used to have an obligation that every TV channel would have to register a 5 minute startup theme that they'd play each day over a test card before starting broadcast... I wonder what the Disney Channel's startup theme would have been or what startup theme the American networks would have had?
@VideoRewind7 жыл бұрын
Is that what that is? I've wondered about that glitch for a long time now but always assumed it was a hiccup with the VHS or someone playing with the channel select - though I never noticed that particular glitch on the tape. The same phenomenon occurs twice here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otmkqJB9zNiRnJs.html, which was the last program of the night before this promo feed.

You know, I was thinking, since ATN7 Sydney (Australia) signed off for the last time on analogue television at the end of 2013 by showing its longtime nightly ritual - A music video set to Tommy Leonetti's "My City of Sydney" followed by a cartoon of a kangaroo forming a bed from the letters A, T, and N for its joey (complete with an announcer telling the viewers that the channel will be moving to digital and, surprisingly, "Temptation Sensation" (the Always Sunny theme) playing in the background), I think Disney Channel should do the same with 0:02 - 0:22 (though I doubt it'll shut down, since it's probably the only Disney Channel still up - the others have shut down due to the worldwide success on Disney+). Great idea if you ask me!

Why on earth did they sign off at the night instead of keeping it going 24 hours?
@timharper736 жыл бұрын
Blueberry Pitbull Back then when cable was still relatively new to the public, some channels did not operate on a 24-hour schedule. They were just on for certain hours then signed off the air for a while mostly for transmitter maintenance and other technical issues that needed to be cleaned up before going back on the air later that morning. When the Disney Channel launched in April of 1983, it incorporated the sign-off/sign-on practice every night until they finally went 24/7 fully in December of 1986. However, TDC still signs off for approximately an hour once a month for the aforementioned equipment maintenance.

Because technology keeps getting wiser with time, but the brain of an organism stops doing so by itself when the organism stops physically growing. If we want to stay smart through adulthood for sure, we have to strengthen our thinking skills. I have done so with HAPPYneuron. The company’s games have taught me to increase my average memory span (which is now probably approximately 30 years), notice things more easily without having to think so hard, and make the right decisions without feeling severe pressure. Humans have to be able to determine what does not require or even involve technology (such as talent). Technology still is not advanced enough to persuade people to be more social in person. I will address the idea when I run for president of the United States.

Not exactly. When the Disney channel aired these promotional material spots, they would usually last about an hour or so. Then the sign-off would continue with a new blue screen that would come on and the text would display: THE DISNEY CHANNEL GOOD NIGHT PROGRAMMING WILL RESUME AT 6 AM EDT There's also a strip of color bars in the middle of that slide included with the tone that you hear in the 1st part of the video stating when the promo material begins.
