Thank you guys SO much for all the love and support on my last video! Based off of high demand I have created this video just on my experience as a character performer - specifically as a face character!
For those of you who ask about what character I was please listen to the first part about why I still practice character integrity (even though I'm no longer with the company). But if you're REALLY dying to know, I do feel like I imply which character I spent the most time with!
Please let me know if you guys have any more requests for videos!

My eyes watered slightly when you talked about adults coming to you all excited about your character. I always fell kind of embarrassed approaching characters, thinking they will kind of be annoyed. That was really important for me, it made my experience all that more special. Thanks, princess.

You took the words out of my mouth! I cried when meeting Princess Tiana because I was so excited when her movie came out and she was a princess of color who did everything on her own and opened a business and her end goal was never to be married; I know it’s just an animated movie, but it really touched and inspired me. I have a young niece now and I was so grateful that she had that movie to inspire her to be a strong woman one day! And so when I met Tiana, it was fully like being star struck and meeting a celebrity. I was frozen and just staring at her and eventually cried a bit! I was so embarrassed and sure that she thought I was ridiculous, but it is SO nice to hear that performers don’t mind it. It really was such a heartwarming and happy moment for me when I visited Disney as an adult!!!

Hey, I have been filming all characters I meet since 2013 and last year, I was 20 when my family and I visited Disney. Peter Pan is my favorite Disney character. Why? WE SHARE THE SAME MOTTO - Never Grow Up!

I’m 31. When I was 6 I went to Disney. It was when Aladdin came out and they did the Aladdin experience for breakfast. I met Aladdin and Jasmine. We joked and I got my picture taken with them. The parade happened later that day and we were in the front for it. As Aladdin and Jasmine passed by on the Abu elephant float, Jasmine waved and looked down and said “I remember you” as she pointed at me. We have it on camera. At 31, I will never forget that after seeing thousands of children all day and not seeing me but once for a short time, she said “I remember you” to me. It was a magical moment and I’ll never forget it!

The last time we went to Disney World I saw Pluto, I did not ruin the magic for everyone. Instead of saying furry costume, I said furry dog when I was petting him and he hugged me. I like to keep the illusion and the magic alive because I’m young at heart.

Thank you for sharing this. It is so true that you never know why people are at Disneyland or Disneyworld. The last time we went, it was because our family was broken. My daughter was suicidal, and all of us were hurting. My husband and I needed something to help our family heal. We both looked at each other at the end of a really difficult day and said that Disneyland is the one place where we forget absolutely everything outside of it's walls. We got online, booked our stay, and left two days later. It was a hard trip, but for the time we were at Disneyland, we could be free of the heartaches and pain. The magic of Disney is more that cuteness and souvenirs, it is beauty and happiness. I appreciate all the people who work at Disneyland that create magical memories for every person in the park, not just a select few. Every person matters.

This is such a beautiful story!! Honestly that's why I loved my job so much. People who are hurting, or maybe are outcasted in real life (such as people with special needs or disabilities) can escape into a place where they are loved and normal! And you're right, every person has a role! Even the custodial staff who hand out stickers to kids. Yes it is a corporation, yes their main goal is to make an income, but it has given a safe place for people to hope and dream and bring them a relief from the difficulties of the real world.

I got proposed to at Disney World in front of the castle at the Mickey's very Merry Christmas Party and the first Princess I met after was Ariel and My fiance's name is Eric and she was so cute about. She was like "Is he as dreamy as mine? You two should get married on a boat." It was so cute! Also as for body shaming I always try to do the opposite because I know they have feelings and I want to make their day as good as mine.

my daughter was shy with Rapunzel, who offered that sometimes she'd get scared with strangers and hit them with a frying pan, then asked my girl if she ever tried a frying pan with her bad guys? My daughter, out of the blue, said "No, my mommy and Daddy would stab bad guys with knives." DH & I were mortified, but the attendant just laughed and laughed and told us no worries, kids have said much worse before.

I really appreciate the character integrity. I went to Disneyland very recently and I met Darth Vader. Even though I'm an adult, the actors and the character attendants were so good at keeping up the integrity of Star Wars that it really seemed real. I wish every character performer was as sweet and understanding as you. On a recent trip my family took to Disney World, they accidentally wound up on the line to meet Ariel... they didn't know that's what line they were on, but once they figured it out, they went along with it because it is Disney after all & meeting the characters is fun. Now my family is all adults, but that doesn't matter. Like you said, adults still love to meet characters! Well, not only was the attendant so rude to my family (3 adults) and SHOCKED to see that they were adults, but once she walked them over Ariel, Ariel was shocked to see that they were adults too and acted so rude and awkward towards my family. She was so cold to them and couldn't wait to just get rid of them. Awful! The Little Mermaid movie came out in 1989; it's not surprising that some of its fans are going to be adults!!

That makes me so sad! I had that happen a few times when I was with Ariel, she would tell them it was an honest mistake, offer to take a picture anyways and tell them to tell Scuttle hello for her when they went to go hear him tell her story. I saw adults come in to meet characters all the time (both an an attendant and a performer) and it wouldn't be surprising to see adults. I'm so sorry for your experience, it's a shame that some cast members forget the importance of their jobs!

aw Kenzie it's awful to hear about the body shaming! I've never performed for Disney, but have had similar situations arise with musical theatre stage performance and other types of character entertainment onstage and off. Same with issues of seniority, directors having and sticking to their favorites, miscasting, comparison, the same old drama you'd expect in this field of work, and even more serious things like cyber-stalking. More people need to understand the concept that while we are performers, we're at the core just real people trying to do our jobs to the best of our ability like anyone else in any other sort of job! While it would be my dream job as well to perform for Disney, I've had a lot of doubts about it for many reasons, a lot of it coming down to my family not believing I could make enough to live out of state on my own. Which sucks, but is a real concern. I've only auditioned once, 3 yrs ago, and haven't had a chance to audition again, but when I do, I feel like I now have a lot more knowledge about the experiences that make up this job so I won't feel completely clueless like I was the first time. I will be trying the DCP approach when it works better with my schedule, so fingers crossed! Videos like yours help a lot, we all really appreciate getting to hear what it's like from the perspective of a past performer! I never got to meet Ariel, she's my absolute favorite and has been for a long time. I have her first film memorized line for line! Her story means the world to me for so many reasons (lol I've already written an essay of a comment, so I'll try to keep it brief!). Part of Your World helped me discover my voice, it was the first song I sang for an audience back in middle school and led me to become a Vocal Music major in college where I got the opportunity last year to sing that same solo at the main stage of Carnegie Hall, which was beyond my wildest dreams! I live far from the Disney Parks I've just been to WDW with my family in 2001 and 2008 and have no clue when I'll be able to go back next. But it's super nice knowing that Ariel got to chat a bit about her TV series as well, it was my favorite growing up (I soooo love the episode Wish Upon a Starfish with Gabriella!!) and it gets forgotten all too often but has so many great characters and stories :) Thanks so much Kenzie for sharing more about your experiences with Disney and getting to hang out in the Grotto! If and when I do get to interact with Ariel, for sure I will be in tears! So great to know Ariel loves some of her most devoted fans, sending much love back

I felt like the Disney College Program was so nice because it made that transition a lot easier for me to make! That's so messed up that people do body shaming at Disney! What kind of people would do that at such a happy place to people they don't know? Smh. 😒 On a more positive note, thank you so much for mentioning adults who engage & enjoy Disney. I love Disney as an adult, cuz I never got to go as a kid, but I always feel awkward with characters cuz I thought they'd think I was a huge baby for enjoying Disney. Now, after hearing your experience & hearing that most performers love it warms my heart & puts me at ease. Thank you so much! 😊

Before I started working for Disney (I want to say I was about 18 or 19) I went on a trip with my family to Disneyland. I still really wanted to meet the princesses (and I was already feeling weird about that since I was older). The first two I saw made me feel REALLY uncomfortable but then the last one I saw was Ariel (who has always been my favorite princess, ironic!). She asked me if I wanted to take a shelfie! She made me feel so much more comfortable and she was able to relate to me in a way the other ones didn't. I really thought about that when I was performing because I know if people are waiting in line to meet a character obviously they really want to meet the character! I always tried to remember my experiences as a guest and let that shape my interactions when I was performing :)

You are such a wonderful person!! I loved how you brought out how you love how adults love Disney characters! I thought I was too big for the characters at Disney World to truly interact with me but Aladdin and Jasmine just drew me in and they were so loving! Before I left, I told Jasmine I loved her and before I could process what I just said, Jasmine replied, "I love you, too!" And I started crying. I love Disney World. My favorite princess is Belle and I got picked to be a knight at Enchanted Tales with Belle(which was such a surprise! Like I said, I'm a bit older than a kid so I thought they would totally ignore me!) when Belle came out, I thought she wouldn't notice me and be talking to the kids, but she saw me first and said "You look beautiful!" And when I took a picture with her, I was a knight, but she called me a princess. I love Disney World and thank you so much for this video and for bringing up wonderful memories! You are awesome!!!

Thank you SO much, you just made my day! I had watched SO many videos before I auditioned and when I was making my video I wanted to make it unique and capture aspects of the audition and the job that I felt like others hadn't. I think if I had made the video right after my audition it would've been harder to do, but since I had the experience of auditioning a few different times, experienced rejection, got the job, did the job and left the job I felt like it helped me see things from a bigger perspective. My goal in creating these videos is just to help people better understand the audition process and the job so they can feel more confident auditioning and decide if the job is something that's right for them too! I'm so glad you found it helpful, it makes me really happy! :)

We took my daughter to Disney for the first time last Christmas. She had just turned 3 and we met Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzle, Tiana and Elena. Every single character made my child feel so special and loved. I cried multiple times watching her experience all this. After we left for weeks on end she’d tell me over and over again how Cinderella probably missed her and she couldn’t wait for Elena to come to her castle. All because they had interacted with her so sweetly and authentically. I seriously could not have asked for a more perfect experience. Memories I’ll never forget. Just know us parents appreciate the efforts and heart put into this so much possibly just as much as the kids.

5:00 Okay I have never been a worker at Disney (but man it would be so much fun I think!) but I do work at Chuck E. Cheese's and people body shame Chuck E! One time our Chuck E. was heavier than usual and a kid (and his parents!) told him to "lay off the cheese" and that "he's a little big". Another time he was relatively short and everyone in the store goes "oh, we didn't want the short one." Another time, he was apparently visibile in some areas to be a girl, to put it in plesant terms. You can bet your butt a few parents complained to our managers that "Chuck E. is a boy and cannot be a girl." Like sorry honey, but all the Cast Members on duty are female so ya better get use to it. Like ??? What is the point in body shaming a character? It is so rude and inconsiderate omg.

I love how much you genuinely love your job! It's so easy to complain be caught up in the negative aspects of work, but you really enjoyed it and it warms my heart to know that it's as magical for you as it is for the guests. I know when I went to Disney World I was so worried about being a bother to the character performers. It really shows how bright and loving your personality is that you really do love it. I wanted to perform Mulan for the longest time before I realized 1) I didn't have the talent and 2) my personality just wouldn't fit. But your attitude and spirit definitely embody a real-life Disney princess!

I, myself am now 19 years old and Disney has been such a huge part of my life from childhood up to today!! It makes me so incredibly happy!! My parents surprised me with a trip to Disney World as a combination Graduation/Birthday trip and oh my gosh did I have the time of my life!! I remember crying going into the entrance of Magic Kingdom!! But I love that you mentioned adults loving Disney because i met your character and i just was in shock!! She's been my favorite Princess since day one and I kind of regret not talking to her more but I was so amazed!! Happy though nonetheless :) thanks for this video! Continue spreading the magic ✨✨

Hey Kenzie! I love your videos on all things Disney, and this is not my first time watching them aha. I actually just got back from Disney World today! I’m 17 currently- 18 in December, and graduating high school in May. I often watch Disney vlogs, read people’s blogs about their visits, etc. This visit was the first time I went since around 4 or 5 years old. (I live up in Tennessee.) Seeing the magic Disney and the characters make, and having experienced it, warms my heart so much. I recently borrowed an Anna cosplay for a convention, and while there and at a couple places after, seeing the magic in kids’ eyes when they saw me filled up my heart. As soon as I got into the convention center, I came across a little girl, maybe 5 or 6, who was fully dressed as Elsa. She was so cute and sweet, and came to say hi and her mom took pictures and she hugged me and it was wonderful to meet her and multiple other kids, just in this cosplay walking around a convention/restaurant/bookstore. I don’t remember much from my first visit, but one thing I do distinctly remember is meeting my favorite character, Ariel. Meeting and hugging Ariel was so incredibly important and magical for me as a child (and me now as a larger child). I’ve dyed my hair red since eighth grade, and only recently realized it’s likely been subconsciously because of my love for Ariel aha. For a while now, I’ve known that I want to make that magic for others. I don’t know if I should try for the college program or just try look alike auditions or what. (I have read about them, as well as watched your audition video!) Also, I’m simply afraid of not getting it and spending a lot of time, money/travel, and emotional turmoil on it. Even if it’s silly things, like, is my nose too big? I’m 5 feet and around 2 and a half inches- is that too short, or too tall for others? Am I too pale (though I suppose I could change that one)? I guess I just have a lot of hope, but also a lot of worries. I love and appreciate your videos so much. I’m sure you get a lot of comments/messages/requests like this, so I apologize if I’m a bother! But if you have any additional tips or advice or anything for a young dreamer, I’d so greatly appreciate it. (Note, I do have a theatre background, and musical theatre is my second career choice to Disney Character performing.)

Great video! Luckily I didn't see anyone trying to make people break character when I was in Disney. I would've gotten so pissed. Don't see the point in even going to see someone if that's the goal. I've always thought the characters are there for the kids (and the kids in us) having them see adults get excited about the characters whether they really are or not just makes it all the more real for them.
@kenziemacbrown

maninthebox0 I think for those types of people they are excited deep down, they're just insecure about it and they make fun of the character to make themselves feel more comfortable. I'm definitely not justifying it by any means. But I think it's probably like in real life situations where people put others down because they're hurting so much. It doesn't make sense, but it makes me feel sorry for those who feel the need to do that. So I do feel sorry for the guests who try to ruin it for others, because it's sad they need to bring harsh reality into such a magical place!

I had a difficult childhood and didn't have a lot of love. I got bullied at school I was very small and scrawny. One of my bright spots was going to Disney when my uncle worked for them and got complementary passes. I always loved Ariel and the idea of another underwater world I could escape to(especially since I was from Florida) and I was so shy I remember Ariel picking me out and giving me a hug and complementing the bubble hair clips I had in. It made me feel valued and special to have one of my favourite characters actually care about me and not find me annoying or a bother.

My dream job is to be a character performer for Disney. The second I was old enough I started going on auditions for parades and face characters. After going to about 6 auditions I started getting really discouraged and stopped trying. I have a big red freckle in one of my eyes and I figured that since it is an imperfection that can't be covered up it was time to leave my dream a dream forever. Recently I started to cosplay some of my favorite princesses and the love I get from people when I am out in public taking pictures and going to conventions is amazing. I believe that if you look like a Disney character you should have character integrity whether you work for the company or not, to me it is very important to keep that magic alive. Even though I can't fulfill my dream of working in the Disney Parks as a character performer I have still found a way to be friends with some of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I am always so fascinated with the stories that character performers have about the job. I am one of those guests that get excited when I meet one of my favorite characters. I know that they are just performers, but it always makes a bad day instantly good. My favorite part about meeting characters is that when they give a guest a hug they wait until the guest lets go first. Dealing with anxiety and having some pretty bad panic attacks I sometimes need a longer hug from my favorite characters. While I never got to opportunity to meet you in Disney World I wanted to thank you for being part of the Disney magic. I know that performers can get some rude guests that come through, but on behalf of all of those guests that truly appreciate the time they get to spend with the characters, thank you very much. Going to Disneyland and meeting my favorite princesses and fur characters has really helped me work through some of the tougher days in my life. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

I'm so happy to hear you don't think adults who want to meet characters are weird. I finally got to meet Ariel this week after years of saving up to go to Disneyland (I'm 22) - I simply couldn't afford/arrange to go before. I am such a huge Disney fan and Disneyworld is my favourite place on earth. I have a lot of worries in my life and get really overwhelmed but WDW is the only place that I can feel truly happy and let go of my problems for a short while. I always tried to reign in my enthusiasm a little, in an attempt to not embarrass myself in front of the performers, thinking that they'd be looking at the 30-yr old me and inwardly shaking their heads! I'm lucky that I get to visit Disneyland in HK on a regular basis, and all the girls are so lovely and kind and I try to tell them that they make a difference whenever I can :) I really liked your video as it was balanced between the 'magic' and the realness that no doubt exists... and you are so super cute, I can see why they let you swim with that character ;)

Makeup artists love to blend shades and products so any performer that has a stylist maybe wearing 2 to 4 products on their lips. Also lighting matters. A product will look darker or lighter depending on the light. artificial light has its own tint. The makeup artist may take this into account so somebody recreating the formula may think they have done something wrong when they see themselves in different lighting.

I know for a fact that if Moana finally got her coronation and became an official disney princess... if I had the chance to go to Disney and meet her, even though I would know in my heart the person is not Auli'i Cravalho (aka actual Moana), I would honestly probably cry because I love Moana so much and she means so much to me. Like I highly doubt I would want to meet anyone else just because Moana has such a huge impact on me. ALSO, if Moana does become an official disney princess, I seriously hope that they try to find performers who match her body type. Because that's one of the reasons I love Moana so much. Her body is realistically proportioned and I've always been on the bigger side and I literally cannot be skinny because it's not in my genetics so it was honestly so refreshing to see a disney princess (well, soon-to-be) not have a thin waist and dainty everything.

This is absolutely one of the best character videos I've seen! I was in Florida for about a year but I started in 2013 and I still get upset when I see people ruining character integrity online. So glad to see someone being realistic about entertainment, especially with the lack of growth path. That's why I eventually left. I could have waited around to see if I would've been able to do more parades, but I was ruining my body and my self esteem by sticking around! I still cry when I see pooh bear and alice though!

I absolutely loved your video. It's soo nice to see someone talk about their time working for the mouse in a mostly positive note. Also it's nice to know that it's not as weird for adults to still meet charecters. I'm getting an annual pass to Disney world for Christmas and one of my goals is to meet some "face characters" like Ariel. I've always been nervous about meeting her though for a couple of reasons. :/ 1) I'm 22 and a male...so there is a bit of stigma with either "oh you're a grown guy you shouldn't be liking some more female driven things" or like I've seen from other cast member videos.. "Oh great he's probably a creep". 2) I have a lot of social anxiety / awkwardness, but I absolutely love all things Disney. Anyways.. Thank you for keeping the magic alive and I'm sure the guests you interacted with will always have a bit of joy in their hearts!

If it makes you feel any better my 56 year old father stood in line by himself 3 times to see me while I was performing and he felt super uncomfortable too! But that makes me super sad there is that stigma! I think that's so great you're getting an annual pass and I don't think there's anything wrong with meeting characters at any age! I truly hope that you have amazing interactions with the characters, it makes me so sad to hear other cast members saying that adults are creepy for wanting to meet characters :(

Ariel is, and has been for so long, my favorite princess (I think it has to do with the red hair). When I was a kid, my family and I went to Disney and while I don't remember a ton from the experience, I do remember just how excited I was to FINALLY meet Ariel. As an adult, I returned to Disney with my family last November, and in planning this entire trip I was so, so excited for my niece (who had just turned four at the time and truly believes the princesses live in the castle) to meet HER favorite princesses (who happen to be Rapunzel like one of her other aunties and Ariel like me). She was SO EXCITED to meet her princesses. I can't tell you which is better, in my opinion; meeting them yourself as a child, or watching a child you love meet them.

Character performers have the utmost respect from me with all you go through and also all the magic you make for guests. I have a friend who was a character performer at WDW (he was a "friend" of Tigger & Goofy as well as some princes) and he loved his job there so much. But then he got the opportunity to work at Universal Japan and he jumped at it (not sure what he does there though).

Thank you so much! I think each job at Disney has its own perks and downfalls, but it seems like a lot of people don't always realize the touch aspects of being a performer. That so cool for your friend! Japan theme parks would be really cool to work at! I don't know if I could move that far away from home, but I always thought it was cool that people could do that!

The last time I was at Disneyland was supposed to be for a week but on the 3rd day my grandmother passed away back home... My parents decided we should stay one last day before flying home for the funeral. It was so hard because we were in the happiest place on earth and I was trying my hardest not to cry... And then I met my favorite character and I just broke down and cried in her arms for what felt like forever. I was so thankful to her. So it's completely true what you said, you never know why people are there. I'm so thankful for Disney and all the beautiful people that make the magic come alive ♡

That is so beautiful, thank you SO much for sharing that touching story! I love hearing stories like that from guests because when you're performing you don't know the full picture. You don't know what kind of day someone is having, if it's their first time there, their last time, or even their only time! I know not all the performers see their job in the same light that I did, but I think it's such a wonderful opportunity to love people in a broken and hurting world! It's so wonderful to hear your story and hear how your favorite character was able to lift your burdens!

Thank you for this video and sharing your experience with Disney! I recently went to Disneyland for my 30th and was absolutely overjoyed to meet Mary Poppins for the first time. As a child that was one of my favorites, and seeing her in person just brought back those happy memories of singing along and admiring that character. As an adult I know the reality of it, but seeing her in person somehow made me forget that reality, which really is the beauty of Disney Magic. So thank you for being a character and saying you loved the adults who were excited to meet you too! That made me feel less guilty for being that giddy haha!

OMG this video is so fantastic. I'm getting a pass for Disneyland this year and I cannot wait to talk to the performers now! I'm going to make a point to meet ALL of them and hear their stories 💖 I met Captain America at Disney years ago and he made little inside jokes about Tony Stark that will stick with me forever.

That is so sweet, thank you so much for sharing that with me! I can completely relate to your friend (my character has been my favorite since I was two!). When I was in high school I would go to Disneyland and I was super nervous to meet the characters but I still really wanted to do it at the same time. One time I went to go meet a few princesses and the first two I saw made me feel so awkward and so uncomfortable and I had regretted wanting to meet them in the first place. But then I met my favorite princess and she related to me by asking me if I wanted to take a "selfie" and she made me feel so comfortable and brought the magic back to life for me! I kept that memory with me when I was performing and I tried to make interactions even more special with young adults remembering how special it made me feel when I was the guest! I'm so glad your friend had such a wonderful time meeting our favorite character! :)

Your positivity and how much you seem to love your job and Disney literally made me cry. I love Disney so much and I love how hard they, and the performers and cast members work so hard to make it magical and make it special. My mom and I make sure we come at least once a year and at this point I know all four parks forward backwards and sideways (# Disney Vacation Club), every room in my house has at least one item from Disney World and I have made so many magical memories. It's people like you that help make it such a magical place for people and for that I say thank you and thank you Disney. It is truly the most magical place on earth.
