Thank you for ACTUALLY doing the gimmick. Some people will literally buy dolls that come with a gimmick but do a review and not even do the rest and for me that’s so irritating because I actually like to have fun!! So thank you so much! (Edit: although for these dolls you kinda have to do some part of the gimmick to unlock them)

for $30, I feel like you're paying for a $15 doll $5 slime $5 bath bomb $5 box I love the dolls, but I so wish they took a page from Ever After High's book and made the books into rooms and not 1 time instructions... The Maddie Hearts playset was so cute

From what I understand, there must be some king of optic illusion trick with the back of the Sorcerer's Cookbook since it's written : "Bring your nose to the center of the image. Steady your stare, then slowly pull the book away. See the magic, do you dare?" I've tried, putting your video at pause, but I think it would only work IRL 😅😂 Anyway, thank you for the review! PS: the belt is supposed to change color with cold water. Did the boots also have this gimmick too?

I'm watching this because I noticed the book in my local store and wanted to see what it's about. I paused at 7:33 to get a look at the optical illusion. It just seems to be the heart symbol, so I assume the blue one is the pocket watch symbol. I would not have designed the book box to be so... meh. For AU$60 (US$40) Rant incoming. I would want something a little more substantial and reusable, maybe even just a fashion doll and one of the activity books available in the US via the Mattel or Target websites (Mattel Australia only has the 2 sorcerers books, and the singing Red doll, so I don't have that option). For comparison, we can get... - AU$19 a Barbie Made To Move doll (just for articulation and low-mid fashion doll) - AU$21 Disney Princess core fashion doll (licensed and looks like the dolls, but not really anything else) - AU$25-35 for Magic Mixies Pixlings depending on the type (similar potion revealing gimmick, not sure if anyone uses the bottle as anything but display after it) - AU$27 for a Unicorn Academy fashion doll (really just a doll with a hair brush and removable belt/accessories) - AU$39 for a Monster High doll (more articulation and a couple of accessories like a pet) - AU$45 for the Descendants fashion dolls (which have better clothes and features than the gimmicky book box) -_- Now I'm just getting mad about how expensive toys are here in Australia. For AU$45 you can get the Barbie Getaway playhouse thing that shows an example of what could go inside this book box, but it doesn't actually come with a doll. I think I'd rather spend AU$49-55 on the Monster High Skulltimate Secrets toy. You get the doll - which seems to be at or close to the standard of regular Monster High dolls - plus accessories, a little clue hunting thing, and an elevator gimmick. The plastic storage cage thing you "rescue" your doll from is actually cute and relevant to the doll, and could be used to store their fashions and/or the doll itself afterwards. The Magic Mixies Pixie Supremes Magic Mirror seems like an even bigger waste of money and packaging at AU$120, but I guess you can reuse the reveal feature and the crappy fortune teller thing? Anyway, not worth it IMO. If I was REALLY into the Descendants and lived in the US, I would just get the fashion doll by itself and maybe get one of the activity books to go with it, if I wanted the spell side of things. Heck, I'd even consider getting a book box and decorating it to be my own sorcerer's cookbook if I really wanted the book aesthetic.
