Disney DVD Anti-Piracy Promo (2005)

Hadn't noticed this one before, I thought they'd of stopped doing these kinds of promos to alert people of video piracy (or DVD piracy, rather) just before they stopped putting Disney titles onto VHS at all. But here it is!
Disney still have ads against anti-piracy on UK home video titles, but they're told more colourfully than these, which is an odd mix of "Disney DVDs are awesome" and the "Anti-piracy is EVIL" stuff that was far more the tone you'd expect from anti-piracy promos by the mid-2000's.
Yeesh, this description was far too long, enjoy! (And for those curious, this came from my copy of "Cinderella", the 2005 Special Edition and not the recent Kate-and-Will-cash-in Royal Edition ;) )

Where do these a-holes GET their pirated DVDs if they look like THAT? The bottom of the swamp? I pirated DVD is usually a 1-to-1 copy of an actual DVD, it CANNOT look worse then he original unless the original source wasn't a DVD to begin with.

sometimes they squese multiple movies in one DVD and chop the bitrate sometimes it was taken from a VHS/TV airing or even being filmed from a movie theather But yeah most of the time they are the same

Most of the time they refer to pirate who record movoes from theater and burn it on dvd. There are many qualities of pirated dvds tho, and that i mentioned are the lowest quality.

Back then a lot of them were just the VHS or theatrical release burnt to a DVD. Also many squeezed onto the same disc. So it did happen a lot

I think that's the first time I've ever heard "In the Hall of the Mountain King" be referred to as "the theme from Alton Towers" BUT as they did use that peice of music for those ads back in the day, I can understand the reason for doing so. ;D

I have a lot of bootleg DVDs. The only flaw was on the bootleg DVD of Finding Nemo, the audio is muffled when I play it on the computer.

I will one day have to work out how to properly get trailer reels from Disney VHSes from what I myself own via some good equipment and methods and not recording from a screen like many do because that's what I mostly still own and...frankly, I wanna hold onto those things forever, let alone upload trailer reel stuff through here of them too! We WILL have to see though... :O

1) You mention what Fox does with their anti-piracy promos in the present tense, they've kinda stopped using these since about 2008 and resort to more minimalist ways of alerting people over anti-piracy. 2) Fox didn't make that anti-piracy promo, if you wanna credit someone for making it, it was actually FACT. A anti-piracy organisation in the UK, MPAA struck a deal to use the same promos on various DVDs. and 3) Disney's VHS anti-piracy promos were different to this one. Gracias, senorita~

There's no problem at all. The only thing that's a bother or anywhere near close to a problem is that you seem to take trivial stuff like anti-piracy trailers way, way, waaaaay too seriously. And there's no need for that. I was merely playing around to see how long it would take for this to become apparent. And now its VERY apparent. If you think of trivial things like this that seriously, then as the person who *uploaded* this, then I feel very sorry for you. TL:DR; Lighten up. :)

As crude as that comment is, I will say that I *DO* definitely prefer Blu-rays to DVDs and I'd rather get something on Blu-ray rather than on DVD if possible as I think DVDs are a little faceless compared to the superior video and sound quality Blu-rays have and even the quirky, analogue nature of VHS. But that's just my opinion there. =P I only uploaded this because I knew it wasn't uploaded before.

Other bad guys on DVDs include REGION CODING and MACROVISION, which you can remove from copied discs (and if you know what the hell you're doing, keep the exact same quality of the original disc!)

@geekymarianne To me, this isn't pirating if it involves something that they don't use anymore. But also, its an advertisement for ANTI-piracy anyway so if anything, others will take this upload as merely getting the message across. Even if the way its told is CERTAINLY not as well-told as it should be, imo.

Nor do I endorse torrenting (not because of pirating but merely because it kinda compromises the privacy of the computers involved and I'd rather not compromise mine, but thats just me ^^;;; ) BUT if you want to know where this came from though, it is from a UK Region 2 DVD copy of Cinderella: Special Edition from 2005.

I love how anti-piracy ads try and make fake dvds look like absolute shit when they are usually just the same files as an official dvd just copied on another disc or a recording of the show/movie burned on a dvd

I agree that you shouldn't pirate new movies however I believe it's perfectly fine to pirate old Disney movies (like Snow White) where everyone who actually made the movie is dead and the people working at Disney now are refusing to release it. It annoys me so much that Disney won't release the classic Disney movies. We can't get them because they have the rights to them but they're not releasing them, so they're deliberately withholding them from everyone and they have absolutely no right to do that. They are the bad guys, not the people who pirate them.

Woooooah, slow down there, Mr. Passionate! Let's back up a little. 1) They don't hold back classic Disney movie releases, rather they strategically release them every few years or so if they have a very special place in Disney history. Mainly movies considered to be part of the Diamond Editions. They release them on a specific format or two one time, then after half a year or so they put it back in what they call "the Disney vault". And then years later, they release them again on another format or two. Most of these movies in the "Diamond" collection have already been released on Blu-ray, to the point that the first ("Sleeping Beauty") was recently re-released on Blu-ray as it's been long enough. They do this so people have a good reason to buy these movies upon release above the fact they're such special movies AND it also alerts newer generations of the movies' existences, so more children who've never seen it and others who haven't themselves will want to watch them. 2) Other animated Disney movies, what I'd call the "library" movies, also get released on top of this. These are movies Disney don't consider to be in such high standing but are released eventually on all formats Disney cares for anyway and AREN'T discontinued periodically like the Diamond movies once they're out and while not all of these are released on every format everywhere, most of them might as well be already. And if one of these is already released on Blu-ray, then you're in luck even if they aren't released in your country yet! Disney's Blu-rays are usually region-free so, say...if you want to have a copy of "Aladdin" on Blu-ray, which is released on Blu-ray in the UK and other countries in the world but not America yet, if you live in the US you can just order this off from Amazon.co.uk and they should import it for ya! Vice versa for other releases that've been released in the US but not in other countries, they're usually region-free so they'll work on your device AND you've already obtained a legal copy of the movie through completely legal means! 3) On the subject of "library" animated Disney movies, most of them are also on Netflix in HD in both the US and UK (and maybe other countries too, I'm not sure)! So if you have Netflix, which uses a subscription-based pay system, you can already be able to watch many animated Disney movies like "Hercules", "Robin Hood" and "The Great Mouse Detective" in fantastic quality without paying seperately for each of them on top of your Netflix subscription...and it's, of course, entirely legal! And with Disney's deals with Netflix, you can expect a lot more Disney movies on there in the future, both animated and even more current animated movies eventually ("Tangled" is already on there, which is an excellent sign). I mean it depends on what you're looking for but assuming you mean "proper" Disney animated movies, classics or otherwise, Disney aren't actually being that bad about this and they DO release this stuff and so long as you're on the ball and know when stuff's gonna be released, there's nothing to get heated up over. Just have to look out for what's gonna be released next, but with Disney's advertising that too shouldn't be hard. ...then again, really? So long as you don't make money from illegally downloaded Disney animated movies, most people shouldn't have to worry. Unless a potential fine, if they deem you that harmful to their sales, is something you're worried about. But even then, IMO? I still think the legal methods are easier and much nicer, but hey.

thingsandtings I know that Disney do release classic films like every seven years but the point that people hardly get access to them. Meaning you will have to wait years and years just to be able to see an old Disney film that you love and many children will grow up without them. So in that case, I not only condone but I encourage piracy.
