Qimir is a like a horror movie villain. He doesn't talk that much, he doesn't taunt you with his Force skills. He actually tries to kill you.

Fr, they made the deaths as brutal as possible while maintaining a Pg 13 rating. Qimir shish kebabed two Jedi and beheaded them, stabbed Jecki literally 3 times, and straight up snapped Yord’s neck with his bare hands. The guy is a beast, and I’m just glad they finally make the lightsabers work for once.

The way Jecki was stabbed was exceptionally brutal. Twice where the lungs would be, and once just above the heart, presumably where her windpipe diverges. That means she didn't die immediately and likely suffocated from respiratory failure

Are we not going to talk about Jeckis fighting style. It looked exactly like Ashoka choreography. She even held the lightsabers like Ashoka would too

Poor Jecki really had to take one stab for each to make up for the three fake-outs before. I can already imagine Qimir going 'That one's for Reva, that one's for Kylo, and that one's for Sabine!!'

for all of The Acolyte's numerous and substantial flaws, the combat is the complete opposite. Finally feels like we have some good lightsaber fighting back. Especially this episode, which was indeed BRUTAL

even then, i feel like Snoke being sliced in half should have been survivable. none of his vital organs were damaged. They could have easily written it as him falling into a pain-induced coma, and then coming back in the next movie as the final villain so we didn't need to bring back Palpatine. I mean Maul survived getting cut in half, and he also fell down a giant hole on top of it all!

depends on the placement of the stab. qui-gon? clean through the torso/spine = dead Jecki? stabbed 3 times in the chest = dead sabine and kylo were stabbed off to the side and received medical attention soon after. it’s not that they finally got it right, y’all just expect lightsabers to instantly kill whoever they touch regardless of where they were stabbed

The one thing that the acolyte has gotten right is real light saber fights. I’ve been missing the clone wars level light, saber fights, and then finally the acolyte the shows all right but they got light saber fights right finally

I think "The Stranger" knew that surviving saber wounds was common so he made sure with 3 stabs instead of one.

Well, just because you get stabbed doesn't mean it's a kill shot. I mean just because someone gets shot in the head...Doesn't automatically mean it's a kill shot since people actually have survived that before on several occasions.

I think what’s better is the blade isn’t treated like metal with mass to move it’s intense plasma that can go through anything so no one should have any trouble just doing that little serial killer move there

I don’t remember that inquisitor girl surviving, but if she did it could be like how maul survived. Maul channeled his rage to survive being cut in half, that is a power those of the dark side have.

The initial argument can be that the person was only stabbed, and stabbings can miss vitals. Additionally, the blade could be cauterizing the wound. That being said however, given the nature of weapon and what we've seen it do to several inch thick metal doors, a single stab from a lightsaber is more likely going to superheat the immediate area and probably vaporizing some of ones insides, doing significant trauma regardless, even if it does miss vitals. especially if the blade is actually held in the wound for more than an instant (Hati stabbing Sabine and Vader the inquisitor being the noted examples)

Actually, what you do not know is that Theelin-human hybrids such as Jecki actually have 4 hearts, and since Qimir stabbed her only 3 times, she was actually able to survive blah blah blah

The only acceptable explanation for surviving a light saber stab is if the stab avoided all and any vital organ. And in very rare cases, force healing.

Sabine survived because it was on the side away from her vital organs and she recieved medical attention immediately and The Grand Inquisator survived because his species have 2 stomachs

First off, you clearly don't know how Lightsaber stabs works. You clearly should know that Lightsabers stabs aren't automatically make every characters died when they aren't targetted at the middle of the body. Jecki is definitely died because the Master did stabbed her at the middle like Qui-Gonn, that Stormtrooper killed by Finn, and Han Solo does die in fatal death. Lightsaber stabs at the sides like Reva and Sabine doesn't get fatal kill off and even Grand Inquisitor lost a first stomach since his species have two stomachs. It's like the sword when it missed pointed at the heart, stomach, or spine.

I think Qimir felt bad about killing Jecki, he had mentioned earlier about how she respected her master and followed orders as a good Acolyte should.

Let's differenciate between lore and dramaturgy. Lightsabers always worked the same way, they always could cut almost everything, that didn't change at all. What really changed under Disney is not how lightsabers work according to lore but the way they are used in the plot. And THAT is where the problem lies. Best example would be Sabine. From a lore point of view, her survivial makes perfectly sense. She got stabbed more to the side of her belly (an injury that wouldn't instakill you in Reallife either), the wound got cauterized due to the hot plasma blade and she was found almost immediatley and got medical help. In Star Wars that's a situation you should be able to survive, I mean, nobody complained when Ahsoka got shot through her shoulder and still could use her arm and that was before Disney took over. And it was also George Lucas' decision to make the lightsaber work in a way it doesn't vaporize it's victim. BUT... Although Sabine's survivial makes sense according to lore it's (in my eyes) still bad dramaturgy as her injury artificially creates suspense for nothing, it has no consequences, it doesn't add anything to the plot or her story. Let Shin just knock her out with a Force push and the story and even most of the dialouge would stay exactly the same. THAT is why I see these last lightsaber stabs as a problem. Jecki got stabbed in a way that her death doesn't just make sense in-universe but is also well executed in terms of drama. Unlike Reva in Kenobi, who not only got stabbed right through the middle of her torso, probably roasting her spine, but also became a victim of fake suspense. But I don't want to talk about that show anymore today.😅 And before someone says again, that lightsaber wounds are not deadly enough in Disney canon, just remember that Starkiller got stabbed right through is body in a quite similar manner as Reva and still he said "Master, we can defeat him together!" before beeing thrown out the window into space and waking up perfectly fine and healed. Just saying.

0:10 I believe the only way how Reva survived is she survived the same way as Maul. He has a great amount of Hatred of Anakain/Vader just like Maul has great amount of hatred to Obi-Wan. When but when Reva see herself in Luke when she was about to kill him she horrified what she been doing all these years. She has great remorse. And after she realizes what she done and let go of her hate. She dies. Because she been stab recently and while Maul holds on that hate so long he becomes insane. I've always wondered why, after the mid-shest stab, they don't remove the saber by moving it UP, cutting the opponent in half, more or less. ?

Something I never understood though is why, after having stabbed someone, do they pull out their lightsaber the exact same way it came in in the first place ? I mean, against an unarmored enemy there would be no resistance whatsoever so why not just finish it with a swing ? It'd be much more deadly for sure plus a lot quicker in order to parry another attack.

Well, the character in Acolyte was stapped *3 times*, probably in both lungs and the throat. Although I'd prefer that Sabine wasn't stabbed in the first place, there's enough reason why she could've survied that, she was stabbed in the stomach. I won't even talk about Reva lol, that whole series shouldn't have even existed in the first place.
