Highly unlikely, but Kevin Feige please consider Charlie Cox for the MCU Daredevil, he is incredible in that role

Actually the CW verse has been shackled multiple times because of the movies. Like there are instances where storylines and characters had to be killed or scrapped because WB didn’t want them to be similar or be competitive with itself or didn’t want to confuse the audience. A good example is Blue Beetle and how Ray aka the Atom was supposed to be Ted Kord but WB said no because of movie plans. Another was that Arrow wanted to use the Suicide Squad but couldn’t because again the movies. Not until recently has the leash that CW been on loosened. *Edited for grammar

This was bound to happen eventually. I just hope Kevin Feige still greenlights mature Marvel content for Hulu because Marvel Television's best work was its mature content.

It was the “kinda” of connectedness, that hurt agents of shield. They had all the limitations and none of the benefits. It needs to be either clearly connected or not.

Ya see John, it can be all connected to the films and still have creative freedom not worrying about the films because that's what the comics do. The Main Universe Comics Earth 616 have a continuity and sticks to it and crosses over all the time. They can set a movie or show during any time of the year and it takes place in only a few days not a long stretch of time. So what happens with a character in one film may have experienced this event but it won't interfere as it was only for a couple of days out of a year. Like Agents of Shield was heavily affected by The Winter Soldier as it changed the show and it's story in Season 1, Shield had to go underground because Captain America wanted it gone. End of Season 2 goes hand in hand with Avengers Age of Ultron as it sets it up. Yet they are still able to do their own thing creatively. As movie events don't have to affect certain characters. Just like what happens to Police in Downtown LA won't effect the Police in Downtown Sacramento but it all still happens at the same time or at different times. Like the second phase of the MCU all took place within a Week or so If I remember Kevin Feige saying that at one point. It's not going to be like DCEU where Man of Steel affected Bruce Wayne as for some reason for the first time Gotham City was the Sister City to Metropolis and Wayne Tower was there. Any the events of Iron Man 3 didn't effect Captain America or Thor but it is still connected. When they teamed up in Ultron they all didn't talk about what happened in each movie and how it affected one another. That was just another experience in their super hero lives that we just happened to see. The MCU is connected but they don't do a great job of each film have consequences or effecting the next film. Far From Home, and Endgame are really the only ones that are effected and shown from the previous film. That's my thoughts anyway.

I think the thing that made the Netflix shows so interesting was that they were grittier, More violence, profanity, it felt like a different type of experience for Marvel. And because they said that they don’t want to do rated R stuff I feel like that also limits the range of stories they can tell.

Marvel tv has some great characters. I wish they’d bring a few actors over to the studios side.

There are people confused even with just movies being connected. Those that are wanting interconnection across Marvel film and tv aren’t confused at all. The interconnection will mostly be like editors notes in a word bubble in a comic for if some people get extra interested in certain story beats.

I agree with John this everything needing to be connected stuff is a worrying trend.....it can be cool with limits but trying to do that with everything will eventually stifle creativity with the need to be beholden to a larger universe.....

After watching Phase 1,2,3 again, I found only one reference from the movies toward Agents of SHIELD: in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Fury shows up in the old helicarrier, he says he brought it out with the help of some old friends (the old friends being Agent Phil Coulson).

It just saw this today, when speaking to Collider at the 2019 Comic-Con Experience in Brazil, Feige said that WandaVision "...will have repercussions for the entire future of Phase 4 of the MCU". So, it sounds like you will have to watch the disney+ stuff to understand some stuff in the films.

Anyone who's worked on any creative endeavor knows limitations feed creativity... If anything, making the TV programs connect to the films is an exciting prospect. We live in exciting times.

4:23 - "CW not shackled " First the DC movies haven't have an idea where they are doing yet.. so it hard to have a TV show be part of that... I mean they already do the interconnectivity thing with the movies, it doesn't suddenly become more of an issue when it's on TV instead. Actually less of an issue because it's easier and cheaper for people to access and stay up to date about the universe.

I agree that crossover between tv and movie is great. Its all about quality. Marvel TV has been a mixed bag while MCU is largely consistently good. John has a good point about limiting creativity by interconnecting everything.

The netflix shows did reference the movies, especially Daredevil S1 which dealt with the aftermath of the first Avengers movie and how Kingpin exploited NY's real estate

My worry is that the live action production will impact the books and animated shows. You can't put real world restrictions on those. We have already seen it happen with Guardians of the Galaxy.

Agents of shield was a direct crossover for the first two seasons , sitwell left his meeting with coulsen to go to the lumerian star and patton Oswald and coulsen got the old helicarrier out of storage for the final battle of age of ultron !

If you don't watch Mandolorian, can you still see Rise of Skywalker?? Hawkeye won't effect every MCU movie, just a Hawkeye movie if they make one. Or his Daughter shows up looking badass in Avengers because of the show. It won't ruin the movie it just means there's more to the story if you want to know. Do you need to know Vader once had a padawan before he turned?? Come on John, maybe they place some limitations on where the show can go but the MCU has something the DCU wish they did; diversity! Marvels shows can have whatever feel they want because the movies are allowed to explore in these different fields. If you want to make Winter Soldier and Falcon like a buddy cop super hero show, why not? The movies have been everything from Heist films to Space sci-fi fantasies. I think tieing them together will just create a richer more robust world. If you allow the stories the bring in different elements all of a sudden you have Vincent De'Nafrio's Fisk as an option to throw against Spider-Man, introduce who he to the audience who he is/why he'll be on Spidey's radar and why he's a threat. Its easier than what they did with Mysterio XD All in all I disagree with you John, I think that the 2 mediums feeding off one another will be a gift to writters, giving them more to play with with less time having to be devoted to the set up. And it advertises the other properties!

John, the Arrow-Verse was shackled by DC-cinema to what they can do and what not. The suicide squad and Waller were great Arrow-Verse characters as was Deathstroke and many more, but they were killed and/or pulled from the shows to "not confuse" cinema-goers. This happened so often that I got really frustrated watching the shackled shows on the CW.

Uhm... Arrow verse is successful but that’s not the benchmark Feige is looking for. He wants GoT level success in terms of popularity and quality (at least earlier seasons 😂)... Viewership for those individual shows, even the most popular ones, is not even half the viewership for GoT. So, no, just the Arrow verse is not what you wanna use as argument for your premise of being “unshackled.”

As an old GenXer, I am old school. I prefer no tie ups because I like films to be different from TV shows. In the first place, TV shows can have more than one episode that you can watch the following week which is hard to do in movies. Plus, I really am not comfortable with connected movies like the MCU which is just one way to make viewers watch all of the Marvel films. It is a brilliant marketing tool but I prefer stand alone films or even films with its own sequels without being related to another movie that can stand alone.

I think the difference is that CW and original Marvel TV were creating completely new characters and universes (since Netflix and AOS wasn't really connected). This is different with Disney, because what you're doing is extending an EXISTING universe to another medium. This means you can a) tell stories about characters that you might not get a chance to write about due to the immense amount of characters in the MCU (and still growing) and b) You can write different kinds stories with TV that you can't with movies because you can tell a story that takes a whole season, as opposed to a movie that is beginning/middle/end in about 2 hours.

Agents Of Shield is AWESOME and severely underrated. People got turned off in season 1 when they tried to be connected to the MCU but they got so much better than that.

That sucks, despite some of them being misses like Iron Fist seasons 1 & 2, Jessica Jones season 2 or Luke Cage season 2 the Marvel Netflix shows have been pretty awesome for the most part, Daredevil seasons 1, 2 and 3, Punisher seasons 1 & 2 and Jessica Jones season 1 I think are absolute masterpieces, I'm 100% certain the reason this is happen is because of Disney+, now that that's launched Marvel wants to make TV content strictly for that service, and because the Marvel Netflix shows are more adult oriented they're not gonna put them on Disney+, the farthest Disney+ is gonna go is PG-13 and that's not what the Marvel Netflix shows were, they were definitely in the R rated territory, so while it is sad to hear this news it doesn't really surprise me

By having shared universe they have to spend extra time explaining why the other heroes don't show up when all he'll is breaking loose !

There is no way Disney would ever let the punisher onto Disney plus. It's a shame, Jon Bernthal was such a good punisher and liked the idea of a live action punisher show.

All the stuff under one guy's arm? Most of the time that not end well I think, like yeah, the creativity restrictions for a started... don't know, this all "Disney taking over the world" thing is very disturbing for me. And above all, the uni-tone will be in all the movies, Disney+ and tv shows? Goodbye variety.

Kevin Feige has taken a world of comics and transported it into live action, which I think it's fantastic and the reason why we enjoy these movies so much, it's because they feel like comics. Every big event in comics has tie ins and that's how the tv shows are being set up. I think it's a great idea.

I have always felt that Marvel movies and series should be handled the same way as the comic books are handled, so having the movies and series interconnected seems perfectly logical to me. If you think of the series as equivalent to the regular issues of comic book titles, and the movies as equivalent to the comic book Annuals, Specials and Graphic Novels, then it makes perfect sense. Even though Marvel Comics comic books, mini-series, Annuals, Specials, and Graphic Novels are all interconnected in some way or other, you don't need to read every issue of every comic book title to enjoy any of the Annuals, Specials, or Graphic Novels. Likewise, you don't need to read all the individual titles of every member of the Avengers to enjoy the Avengers comic books or specials. You could also just read certain Annuals or Specials or Graphic Novels without needing to read every issue of every comic book published by Marvel Comics. This idea that you have to watch every single MCU movie, and therefore will also have to watch every single Marvel Studios series, is ridiculous. If Marvel Comics have managed to cater to the readers of their interconnected universe of comic books for the last 80 years, there is no reason why Marvel Studios could not follow the same strategy with their interconnected universe of movies and series. And likewise for DC.....

Canceling them was a bad idea, they could have started integrating stories from the movies and other shows (like they did with cloak and dagger and runaways). They were pretty good shows that had a following, canceling them outright was pretty lame given the diversity they allowed for storylines and expanding the overall universe. Extremely frustrating, personally I was looking forward to more cloak and dagger as well as more runaways much more than the new series in production.

If you give one guy creative control, and cancel shows that were good because of your dislike of Loeb, then they're truly in trouble. Disney plus tv shows (Marvel) will lack any other texture or flavor, except for the vanilla Disney/Feige recipe.

Marvel television should be their own thing and tell their stories but with Disney plus marvel tv everything has to be connect mcu. My favorite marvel tv shows are agents of shield, daredevil, runaways, agent carter, Luke cage, Jessica Jones, iron fist.

Erin's perspective as an actor is interesting, but I don't necessarily like the connection. I don't see myself watching every TV property, and the thought that I'm missing pieces of the story may eventually give me pause about seeing the movies. It's not about having no clue what's going on, it's about knowing that there are things that I'm missing, regardless of how big or small. I agree that there are ways to get this right, and Feige has the best chance to do it, but it definitely makes me a bit wary. I love the MCU and all its properties and am excited about the shows coming up, but there's just the small twinge of worry. I'm keeping an open mind though, and hope I'm super wrong to be concerned!

I get why people may like that the shows are now more connected to the movies but I agree with John in that I think it is a mistake. I enjoy the movies but now Feige controls everything, we will now never see anything like Daredevil or The Punisher shows come from Marvel again. Their Tv division was a great way for them to explore different tones and really play with the comic book genre and now everything is going to have the same, family-friendly, tone with quips, grey colour grading, and characters that will never go into as much depth as they did in things like the Netflix shows, and that is a real shame. In summary, I'm just worried that instead of having shows with the complexity and filmmaking of Daredevil, they're all going to be like Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Makes sense because Disney+ has the Marvel shows now. Doesn't make sense having Marvel shows on ABC, Netflix and Hulu. Too much disparity.

John Campea really needs to see Agents of Shield. He's making it seem that AoS is a failed show because they loosely connect to the movies. AoS is just a more entertaining and better all around show.

To be quite frank, the part where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Defenders can reference the movies but not vice versa despite how in the former, an Inhumans outbreak worldwide should have alerted the Avengers and I still don't buy for a fact that after all of that time, Coulson still hasn't told them that he's alive and now, they never will and that build up ended up being all for nothing and as for the latter, I am still baffled on why the Avengers, Spider-Man, and even Doctor Strange never took notice of that rather unnatural earthquake caused by The Hand that happened literally in their backyards! Also, why hasn't Danny Rand ever thought about contacting Tony Stark? I am pretty sure that since Danny is the head of a rich company like Tony is for his, do you honestly think that two major corporations like Rand Enterprises and Stark Industries wouldn't have heard of one another and wouldn't at least form potential business partnerships? I honestly am sick and tired of how one sided the relationship between the movies and TV shows within the MCU went and I definitely do believe it is time have them more interconnected and start having more of the MCU characters that debuted in the shows to start appearing more in the movies as well. James D'Arcy's Jarvis from Agent Carter making an official cameo in Avengers: Endgame is what fans wanted from the start and it proves that Agent Carter is 100% canon to the MCU after all. People still doubt the canon validity of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. despite how Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Sif, and Dr. List did guest star in the show after their movie appearances, I guess the only hope for people to finally get that this show is canon to the MCU is when the AoS characters can finally show up in the movies a bit more and now that the show will end in 2020, they just might because with no show, that means they are free to use those characters in the movies whenever and where ever they want without stomping on what's happening with the show. Lastly, I disagree with the Arrowverse being given more freedom because I believe everyone remembers the ridiculous restrictions that the shows are forbidden to use certain characters like how Batman, Waller and the Suicide Squad was treated and plus with the news that the Ezra Miller Flash movie will be coming out in 2022, I got to wonder if they will think about cancelling the Grant Gustin Flash show by then in order to not confuse audiences.
