Disney celebrated its golden anniversary in 1973, and I take a look at some of the events and some of the artifacts of that year-long celebration. Hope this glimpse at this historic celebration (itself celebrating Disney's history, 1923-1973) will make you happy in at least 50 ways.

Thanks so much for this slightly sad but also happy trip back to my childhood. Dating myself here, but I remember so well that 50 Happy Years TV special when I was seven and came to KZfaq hoping to find at least a bit of it. (Knew it was unlikely but hey, I did find the Julie Andrews Disney special.) I also remember going to Radio City Music Hall to see 'Robin Hood' and that stage show. as well as 'Mary Poppins'. My God, the magic of seeing that for the first time, and at the Music Hall, no less! Before the '70's were over, I saw the film in movie theatres three times but unfortunately not since. Oh well, the DVD will have to do. I also had that Disney Favorites LP set, wish I still did.

I cannot even imagine the magic (as you say) of seeing any Disney film at Radio City Music Hall, let alone Robin Hood and Mary Poppins! Another great one!! I remember that 50 Happy Years logo, although I kind of forgot about it until now. Oh, how I'd love to see that Radio City stage show you talked aboout! Keep up the great work.

It's interesting that of all of the re-releases in Disney's 1973 release schedule one of them was a double bill, consisting of "Song of the South" and "The Aristocats"

@@jeanclaude78 I'm referring to the 50th Anniversary poster shown at the beginning of this video, which showcased Disney's release schedule for December 1972-November 1973. Disney rarely ever did double feature re-releases when their their old films come back to theaters; so it's only once in a blue moon whenever they did (such as their 1977 double feature re-release of The Three Caballeros/Never a Dull Moment)

5 decades later here we are in the centennial year well it wasn't as great well at least got some big ways to celebrate including wondrous journeys and elemental and other stuff but I think what is stand out the most was once upon a studio
