D+ is a Yoke around their neck. You can say that Star Wars was a huge financial loss and you would be right, but all of that content they yanked off of Netflix and Amazon, to prop up D+ could be earning them licensing revenue from the other streaming networks. Disney has a mountain of old movies and shows that’s locked behind a D+ subscription, and D+ is steady losing subscribers. They also need to keep creating new shows to keep subscribers and their new shows have all been expensive dumpster fires. D+ was a huge risk that they vastly underestimated the difficulty of getting a payoff. It’s turned out to be a lot more difficult than they thought it would be.

Yup, if they licensed it out they might get less direct income of it, yet equally much less costs too. Not sure why everybody needed to get their own streaming service. It isn't really working out like planned for many. And who is still #1 Netflix!

They don't have adult content. If they had better content maybe they could compete, but Netflix has them beat. They own Hulu, but Hulu has better stuff to watch. So many people use Amazon Prime for deliveries that even though their original content can be hit or miss, they have some good stuff and some decent movies you can watch. HBO Max has better content. And like you said, they lost the revenue on selling content to places like Netflix and Prime. They spent all that money and it has been wasted.

@@animezilla4486 It has been. Too many Disney movies are failing recently, It's not just one or two failures but consecutive failure. Their main consumers have been conditioned into waiting for a movie to move to Disney+, which devalued their own movies, and that streaming service is losing subscribers anyways. That's not a good sign for the future of the company. All they have left is the parks and even that has been seeing strain recently.

The success of Inside Out II is a sugar hit but outside of that there is nothing in the long term outlook that would increase the stock price given current macroeconomic conditions.
@davidgantenbein9362
@davidgantenbein9362 Ай бұрын
And how much does Inside Out 2 success translate into park attendance, merchandise sale, Disney+ subscriptions etc.? Because the Disney business model is that their movies and shows are supposed to pull people into spending money in parks, on merchandise and on Disney+. Imo Inside Out 2 isn’t a replacement for the decline of the MCU or Star Wars in that regard as it’s not really a franchise that keeps a loyal customer base spending money over 10+ years. Hell, Toy Story and Cars are probably nth time bigger franchises from Pixar in terms of loyal customer base and still don’t compare to what Marvel and Star Wars were just 5 years ago.

I don’t think Inside Out 2 performed due to that, there were enough other average movies that failed this year. We still see some movies being really successful despite all the „fatigue“ spins Hollywood tries to pull instead of admitting that Hollywood simply fails to pull an audience that would still be there. Why Inside Out 2 managed to do so is for others to explain as it didn’t pull me in, but I wouldn’t belittle it, success is success. But it’s only one big success for a studio that used to have several per years and needs to maintain franchises to make the real money in parks. Inside Out 2 will not save Disney, same as just The Marvels wouldn’t be able to kill Disney.

It's the Nelson Peltz exit that caused this. When a block of stock is dumped they can artificially support the stock price by buying it up through supporting stock holders, to support the stock price, but eventually that stock has to be released and if done slowly it shouldn't impact the stock price, unless there are no buyers. I think that's what we're seeing. The slow release of a large block of stock over time isn't being bought up and it's depressing the stock price again. This time they have no intention of holding a steadily reducing stock, and no one else wants it. If they get caught as it drops someone is getting stung with the losses, and I doubt it's their money, probably done poor pension fund being stripped of its gains. Bad news from their parks and mediocre cinema material, I thought Disney would be panicking a lot sooner. They held longer than I thought. There must have been more willing participants and more fluid assets available longer term to hold the Peltz stock. But it's got to be released soon, it's not cost effective to hold, does anybody expect Disney stocks to rise short of a takeover?
@louiefrancuz3282
@louiefrancuz3282 Ай бұрын
Disney doesn't need one big box office movie, they need 10-15 movies. Disney's stock price rise earlier in the year was bouyed up by Nelson Peltz' purchases. Disney's FU money is gone. Accross Disney's talent is working for the competition. There is a major strike looming at Disneyland. And, lurking below the surface is a maintenance time bomb in the parks caused by Disney's cash shortage. Disney is in trouble plenty and they can't spin it anymore.

I'm over Disney some time ago, but i wish you guys would report stock properly. Disney is 6.7% up year to date. Yes there has been some heavy selling (Peltz etc), but it bounced back. From a value pov, the stock looks like it has settled back to pre streaming numbers - ouch! If it was in real trouble (which currently they are not), it would regress to 2011 (a pre mcu $38). Lucasfilm is irrelevant in terms of stock valuation after they failed to capitalise on Mando / Baby Yoda. What they paid for Marvel, Lucasfilm and others is just sunk cost at this point. Hulu could be an issue once we know bottom line. If they keep making losses on tentpole films and don't make a profit or increase market share of D+, the stock could fall back to $60/70. They would have to divest assets and rethink revenue / cash positions. This is different to "I don't like what they did to my shows".

Iger should have taken his opportunity to bail out when Chapek was put in place. Now he has no scape goat or way out. It's all on him and his policies. If anything has been increasingly apparent, it's that Disney isn't Disney anymore. It's the Bob Iger company wearing Disney as a veritable skin suit. Most of Walt's values in designing the parks has been pretty much bulldozed into the ground in favor of trying to choke as much profits out of park visitors as possible. The problem in regards to finances is that they've jumped the shark in regards to park visitor value vs expenditures. Simply put, the price tag isn't anywhere near the value of the visit. This wasn't the case in the past. Disney has gotten away with some pretty nuts price tags in the past for a visit, but they've compromised the parks to such a degree at this point that it's undeniable. Understand that most of the population isn't tuned into the parks leaks or anything. They're just after a good time and Disney still isn't fulfilling that role.

Inside Out 2 is a mistake as far as Disney is concerned. It managed to be released without being packed with DEI and DEI free is not how corporate Disney want their products to be consumed.

"Is Disney a Buy, Sell or Hold?" People should be repeatedly placing put options on Disney, all too frequently Disney stock falls, wait for their rebounds and begin placing put options, rinse and repeat. FYI: This is not financial advice seeing how this comment is necessary with any fiscal commentary today.

If i did have Disney stock, i'd be shorting the 💩 out of it. As for the movies that are a success, at this point, i believe they're just pacifiers for the people that have been roasting D+ so they can double down on they're message.

I'm not surprised. Inside Out 2 is only one movie, and one success is not a winning streak. Financial people still have long memories, and everything before I-O 2 is still on their minds, like the Star Wars debacle. Let's see how the Deadpool and Wolverine movie does. The Acolyte hasn't helped one iota.

...took my 7yo granddaughter to her first sit down movie theater experience in our 5,600 pop. town to see Inside Out II. I didn't think it was nearly as entertaining as the original. The inclusion of the gal in the 'hood' bothered me, as those folks typically do not integrate with 21 century society.

DEI-sney is officially DOA. As Universal builds Epic Universe and pays homage to its Classic Universal Monsters, DEI-sney doubles down on its destruction of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Dr. Who, and the MCU. As Universal expands on the World of Harry Potter, DEI-sney shitcans one of the most popular rides in the Magic Kingdom in Splash Mountain and replaces it with a bad ride with bad animatronics, based on a very mid film. They erase a ride that has one of the greatest Disney movie songs ever written, "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da," and replace it with a ride that has a movie song that sucks, nobody recognizes. Splash Mountain was fun, funny, whimsical, spooky, and one of the best Dark Rides ever built. Walt's legacy is being erased.

I’m not convinced that the box office numbers are honest with inside out 2 for 2 reasons. I don’t see the grass roots value for this IP the same way similar high value movies. Disney’s still banned in my house as well as many of my neighbors’ houses. And Bob iger promised a timeframe for Disney’s stock improvement. He said this quarter would be 💩 and that some other quarter would be when it improves. He needs to make it look like there will be a reason the quarter in the future will be better. I’m still not voting for Disney with my dollar, a lot of my neighbors are in the same boat. Maybe there’s something I don’t understand; but I’m curious what that could be with Disney rage bate videos being on the upward trend and spontaneously apparently with random Disney ip’s so is Disney movies. There’s a piece of information we’re not getting.

Regardless of how you feel inside out 2 still is a major hit and it's doing very well at the box office there are plenty of KZfaqrs that have confirmed that

@@animezilla4486 there’s a wkuk skit that can explain how simple it is for a movie no one likes to be extremely successful. A guy wins the lottery and turns around and wins it again by taking his check to the store and being like “I’d like 40 million lottery tickets”. On paper unpopular movies can be popular by Bob Iger walking into the box office store and being like “I’d like 1 billion inside out 2 tickets” and suddenly they sold a billion inside out 2 tickets. We don’t know who bought this many tickets to a movie about phycology while Disney’s continuously accused of being grooming; but those results from that data look hypocritical. Frauds don’t like reporting things honestly and the data shows Disney rage KZfaq videos growing in popularity. Somehow the box office track record up until now has gotten worse and more distaste has grown for the company and this one randomly did well and my neighbors didn’t see inside out 2? I find the fraud to be more likely. Unless there’s a silver bullet of an explanation that I’m missing as to how Disney boycott support can grow and their box office support grows. It’s still kinda early to figure out how this movie got the box office numbers it got. If a little kid makes no money on a lemonade stand but then the same parent that supplied the lemonade stand buys all the lemonade off his kids so they don’t feel bad, did the lemonade stand do well? The kid will report it did well at school. Is he telling the truth? That’s what Disney’s data looks like to me.
