Founded in 1991, Disney Vacation Club, or #DVC, was introduced as a timeshare program allowing members to essentially buy a part of an official Disney resort. Whilst it started with rather humble beginnings in the 90s featuring only Disney’s Old Key West, Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island Resort; the program rapidly expanded in the late 2000’s to include Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower and the Treehouse Villas.

I used to own DVC with my ex's parents (but, had to give it to my ex in the divorce property settlement - it was the only thing we argued about😂). So I did the next best thing; bought my own home just outside the Disney bubble. I'm moving down permantly this year - WDW is only 20 mins away 👍

Next time you go to one of the parks, book and appt to meet with the DVC people. Listen to their spiel for a couple of hours (you don't even have to sign), and you get 4 golden fast passes per person in your party to make up for the time of the appt. Those passes made the rest of the trip much better and we were able to bypass several 3+ hour waits

So this would be worth it if you’re planning on taking Disney vacations at least once a year for the next 40 years. I don’t think about what I’m going to do next week much less the next 40 years.

My wife & I bought into DVC twice, now that our kids are grown we often go at least two times a year to Disney World. Even if you do go once a year it is worth it. The points can also be applied toward Disney Cruise Line and Adventures By Disney.

We've been DVC members since 2001. It started out great, then they started to make little cuts year after year. Now it's more aggravation, and stressful than anything.

We became members at DVC Beach Club Villas in 2003 & Animal Kingdom Villas in 2007.. Never regretted for a second & love every single stay, with many more to come.. As stated it’s not for everyone, but if certainly is for us😁😁

Disney killed Michael Jackson after they massaged him into a freak. They also have ruined the lives of countless child actors who have been sexualized at younger and younger ages. Disney and the WOKE are sick and truly evil entities. Walt is spinning in his grave that his name would be attached to these tempters and thorns of demonic people.

My wife and I bought them about 20 years ago when our son was 7 years old ($20,000 f0r 150 points). They were a great way to experience a luxury vacation. Once you stay in a Villa, there's no going back. They are spacious, well appointed and within walking distance to the parks. We were able to stay in rooms we could not afford on a per night basis. After 10 years, we sold our timeshare and, basically, broke even. Now retired, we're looking at buying a new DVC timeshare. It's a costly investment but, if you use it, it's worth it.

The DVC resorts are so nice. My favorites are Copper Creek and OKW. Olivia's is a great restaurant at OKW. Copper Creek has great theming and homage to Walt. I wish I could stay at a Bora Bora bungalow

Moonlight magic is the only reason I'd ever consider DVC. It's cheaper to just get a room at pop century and take a bus transfer over to a deluxe resort 😂

when we went in March 2014 with my parents and sister's family the 12 of us rented DVC rooms at contemporary Bay Villa. it was spring break week and our one studio, and two one bedroom villa rooms via dvc rental was about the cost of rack rate for the one bedroom villa booked through disney. well worth it and we were still able to get dining plan

You don't have to just go to Disney World/Disneyland . There are so many places associated with the DVC. We have taken some amazing vacations since becoming members.

M T A haha 😂 it's a small world after all. But I've spent well over 6 months of my life in Disney world and still love going at the age of 26. Although we are putting off our 2020 trip until 2021. We want to be in magic kingdom October 1st 2021 for the official 50th anniversary.

Becoming DVC members has been one of the best decisions of our lives. While we visited WDW before every two years or so as well, all we could afford was the budget resorts or maybe a moderate, if we splurged. Now we get to stay at Deluxe resorts all the time and we even can host friends. And we do longer stays which allow us to relax in between park days and get to enjoy some off the beaten paths attractions. While the ticket prices raise all the time, if you look around a bit, you can still find some great deals, like the 14 day ticket from Disney UK or Ireland, which costs less than a 5 day hopper from WDW directly and includes Hopper privileges, water park access and even Photopass.

Brandis13 I’m interested in finding out more about the Disney UK 14 day ticket. Question: Can USA citizens purchase the Disney UK tickets and use them? I would definitely be interested in purchasing them for our next trip. Thanks!

@@DroneNYC24 Sorry, I didn't see this reply sooner. In theory, it's only for people from the UK and Ireland, but you can just provide a UK address, as the tickets are sent through e-mail. They are also sold at some official 3rd party ticket sellers and those don't even check if you are from the UK, there, the ticket costs a bit more, since they insist on sending a voucher, so you have to pay shipping fees. Just google "14 day disney ultimate ticket".

I hate to admit, that’s genius strategy: give people a wallop of an experience, just wow the socks off them for a week, such that their _impulse_ at the end is “I never want to leave!” and right then, at your weakest moment, _pounce_ on that impulse and say “It doesn’t have to!” and charge a MINT for lifetime membership - although any sum over a _lifetime_ seems cheaper, right…? for access to something you’ll surely tire of after a few more visits. Crikey, the sangfroid of it! 🥶

Once in life time experience? Guess I should consider myself quite fortunate to have visited Walt Disney World 4 times in my live! Judging by all the price increases and the ever increasing crowd since my last visit, the long 30 hours flight from Singapore, guess I would have to settle with the rest of the Disneyland!

There is a term in Real Estate refered to as "fee simple". The truest form of ownership. Timeshares are not an ownership interest in any form whatsoever. In acconunting circles they are actually classified as labilities.

5:02 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can pool hop to any resort. Especially, the famed Beach Club villas.

Avoid timeshares like the plague! You wanna own Disney? Buy some shares from your local stock brokerage!

When you add the maintenance fees it doesn't seem like a very good deal. Welcome to why people hate time shares after a while. We go to Disney all the time and this seems like a terrible waste of money. Last time we went, we stayed at the brand new Dock Side hotel at Universal for $78 Per night.

A complete rip off. Price your trip and pay as you go. Why get locked into a contract for 40 years??? Thumbs up to Disney for sucking people into buying. It appears they make it very complicated...closing costs, monthly dues, membership fee, varying points system, use this facility but not this facility and the topper...no park tickets???? Save the money you would pay into this time share and at a nominal return rate you will have money to take several Disney trips when your kids are younger and a nice nest egg on the side for...oh I dont know...College???

I'll have to send this video to my dad tomorrow. I told him I want to be a Disney Vacation Club member and he works with someone whose a member. So as soon as I read about renting points I was like this would be a perfect idea to see if I like it or not

I'm pretty iffy like I want to go to a specific hotel room because it's perfect for my family but..timeshares aren't friendly or fun and even though we do visit Disney we don't do it as often as we use to.

Jake Kuhl , not if you go to value resorts. If you like staying at deluxe resorts but pay the value price(sort of) then it will save you money.

In their sales pitch, they tell you it does save ~50% in the long-term, using a bunch of historical pricing examples and Disney magic. Using some of their current rates for Disney's Riviera Resort (per point, $195.00 to buy in and $8.31 annual dues), over 50 years you'll pay $61,600 you get about 450 total nights (in the quiet/value season) in their most basic room, working out to $135 per night for a *deluxe villa* resort, vs. $400 to book the room as a non-DVC member. Over the long term, this is a bit of a savings over Disney hotels in even the *value* category. Using some 2020, ~value~ season, standard room numbers: Value resort: $166/night Moderate resort: $230/night Deluxe resort: $430/night (None of this accounts for dues increases, inflation, points value changes, etc. It's quick and dirty.)

Don't purchase more than 100 points directly from Disney. Buy the rest through the resale market. You'll save thousands this way.

If you do not purchase from Disney you will not get all the benefits of ownership that people get buying from Disney.

@@reclusivegrub If you purchase 100 points from Disney, you receive the benefits (i.e. discounted annual passes). That's why I recommend purchasing ONLY 100 points directly from Disney. If you want more than 100 points, purchase resale to save thousands of $$$$.
