Sadly to many people were abusing it. It should depend on the severity of your disability. Just because you have one doesn't mean you can't stand and wait.. Also, I'm happy about the changes as fed up of seeing an actual child with SEND and then their aunt, uncle cousins, family friends join in the DAS benefit too. The above of families abusing the system is why I will never go merlin attractions again. Hopefully they take this approch too. I'm fine with genuine people who need it having but not every disability means you need DAS.

@@emmajayne6650 the problem is though, who gets to decide the definition? The CM's aren't clinically trained. Disney doesn't ask for or even accept documentation and if I'm taking a family vacation, we would want everyone together. Foster/adoptive families rarely take just 1 kid, most have issues, lack coping skills and are frequently dis-regulated. There need to be a better system in place, I agree but I'm just not sure that swinging the pendulum the opposite direction is doing justice to those who truly need the assistance. I appreciate your comments. Thank you for engaging with me on this.

I have 2 nieces that had DAS. I'm not allowing them to try to get DAS because Disney is having you sign something that says, you will not sue them in a class action lawsuit. I think that this situation is going to come to this. I want to make sure that if Disney doesn't redo the way they are going with the DAS, that they both can join the class action lawsuit, so sad.

@@rebeccaamezcua4010 I hadn't heard about a class action lawsuit but I can't say that it surprises me. With the new restrictions, do you think your 2 nieces would be given the DAS?

I’ve seen many young people lie at guest services to get DAS (sadly even people I know and they found it dumb I didn’t ) So I get them changing the system a bit BUT just ask for proof (privately via online or pdf) and problem solved. Not just deny everyone

We do that already for every accomodation for my child. As we are the one requesting the accommodations we see nothing wrong with it. Work places require it for employees and it's legal as you are giving the info. We will hope next year's visit will be fine and we have a backup plan if not. We hope they can figure out things for everyone to be fair.

I think a lot of people have felt the same way. Now that the replacement for Genie+ has been announced, I have a feeling, the update DAS was step 1 for the new system. Still paid so it sucks but I'm guessing that's what they were up to.

Becky here - you keep saying child concerning DAS….not only children need to use the DAS system. I have used it for three different visits. Right now looks like, thanks to Disney corporate greed, I may not be going again. Hope ADA steps in on this one.

I am ambulatory wheelchair user. I can stand and walk very short ddistances but I cant stand or walk for a long time. I have FND(Functional Neurological Disorder), PTSD, anxiety, depression, and neuropathy. My body doesnt r3gulate heat well and due to FND, I am prone to sizures. Its sad that this is not a friendly, family experience for families anymore. As far as having to show "proof", here in the U.S., it is actually against the law for them to make a person prove a disability, unless you have witness that person blatantly being completely capable. If this doesn't change, not only will I not return to any of thier locations, I will no longer support them in merchandise or streaming app(s).

I'm SO sorry 💔 You shouldn't have to go through those "other options". This is not a good alternative. I agree with your choices of not supporting Disney anymore with your money. It's the only language they appear to hear 🙉

Hi, my name is COLLIN Fossell, and I just want to share with you that I just recently went to Florida. I went to Jacksonville Florida for the American, Councel of the Blind, conference and convention, and my mom was with me on this trip, and she and I, and the people in our group, we took the bus from our hotel, which was the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront to the Kennedy Space Center visitor Complex what the concerns we’re running into a little bit is that my mom cannot stand and wheelie lawn lines because she has to wear a prosthetic device, on her foot, and she got her foot all cut off in 2012, and she had to really learn how to walk with a prosthetic device so she cannot stand and we law online so is there anyway how we can make it to where if she and I decide to go to Disney World, is there anyway how we can make it to where she doesn’t have to stand in a really really long line while waiting for a ride Because she is basically disabled now, and I am disabled to because I am blind, partially -, and I have sorry about policy. So, is there anyway how we can make it to where the cast members at the Disney park will be able to help the both of us out? Because I was happening to us while we were at the Kennedy Space Center visitor Complex give me some chips that would be great. Appreciate it.

@TheDisneySlowdown Ай бұрын
Absolutely, Collin, thank you for your comment. Almost all of the lines for attractions in Disney World are wheelchair accessible. They have EVC's available for rental as well as wheelchairs in the parks and even at Disney Springs. You can also find a third party rental company that will bring the wheelchair or EVC to you and then pick it up when you leave so you have it for the full vacation. Disney transportation also is wheelchair accessible so getting around won't be as difficult. As far as waiting in long lines, that's where the problem lies. Disney has always said that they won't grant DAS for mobility issues because their lines are wheelchair accessible. And from what I'm seeing in the groups, I don't think they would grant you DAS either but you can always try. The downside to that is, you have to book your tickets at least and there's no refunds inside that 30 day window of when you can apply for the DAS. So if you're not given DAS, you have your tickets booked. I recommend going during an off peak time and looking at the After Hours Events as an alternative. Lower attendance for these special events so the ride times are shorter. Good luck and thank you for your comment!

The poor CM's don't need the hate 😂 I have a feeling this is going to resemble the beginning of reopening with all the strict and crazy guidelines. That took a toll on the CM's and I heard it wasn't the most magical place on earth during that time 😂 I knew better than to go to Disney during that fiasco 🤣

I quit listening when you said Disney is the most expensive park. Wrong look it up, Disney is actually the third highest, but not the highest. And $25 on top of $119 is still better, than US at $125 and a pass for $169, or SW at $120 and a pass at $89. Those two then become more expensive. So if one part is a lie, I can’t believe anything. Bye.

Ok, maybe I should clarify, the most expensive park WE HAVE been to. I think you're talking about Universal Studios but I'm not sure what you're referencing to with SW. Please elaborate. At Universal Studios, we haven't had any trouble getting the Assistance Pass for my kids even after they changed it and required documentation. The system started out a little clunky but they've gotten it smoothed out now and our documentation is good for a year before we have to resubmit.
