I think top disney management know the elites plan to crash the US economy and wreck our dollar. The US parks will not matter to Disney in two years. Thats why they spend all that money and put all that tech in to China and japan but not the USA. Its like remodeling all the staterooms on a giant cruise ship you know is already planned to be sunk. Just do the bare minimum to pass the time and not draw attention.

Last time we went to Disney was 2019. It was filthy, expensive and the cast members were either overtly rude or completely blank faced without any sign of personality or joy. The girl running the haunted house line was just straight up screaming people down like the slapped her mother and insulted her cooking in her home. Last year we went to Japan with 2 more people than we went to Disney with, for 2 days longer with flights and hotel and spent 2k less than the 2019 Disney trip. Next week we're going to the Florida keys with 7 more people than the 2019 trip and are having to spend less than the Disney trip. The choice isn't hard to skip Disney.

Disney grows a portion of the food they use in their restaurants (INCLUDING THE FISH). So they are definitely profiting from this in house supply. The cost for two of us for pizza, a dinky cup of plain salad and a drink was over $40.00. Popcorn at Galaxy’s Edge is over $6. SMH 🤦🏽‍♀️ Just eating and drinks for a day for 2 is easily over 200.00… no stupid mouse ears or other Chinese trinkets… just food.

I feel bad for the people who went into debt because they wanted to create special memories for their family. This experience is clearly a ripoff but I think a lot of people were under the impression that they were getting more for their money. They could have gone to Yellowstone or someplace nice for a fraction of the cost and still had a great experience, but instead they went into debt to be exploited by a greedy, soulless entertainment enterprise that hates them.

Yeah…. We recently went on a trip to Florida. Due to circumstances, we had to stay on an on property hotel right next to Disney World. But we wanted to go to Universal Studios so that’s what we did. Universal’s food was significantly cheaper than anything we could find at the hotel or Disney Springs and it was really really good food. And we were full for hours. Every day we ate at Universal, we only had two meals because we didn’t get that hungry afterwards. If we did need something, we’d get a little snack or a butterbeer or something.

I’m not buying it. While fast food has gone up 500%, our local and chain restaurants have not. It’s actually cheaper to sit down and have a nice dinner at a fairly good restaurant then to eat at McDonald’s now. The fancy restaurants haven’t raise their prices that much either. I would guess about 10% across-the-board instead of in the hundreds of percentage. That goes for local owned cheaper diners, family chains, and for the fancy restaurants. If you look at the statistics on food wholesalers it is in line with restaurant prices not grocery store prices and certainly not fast food prices.

For us, our approach has been to visit the resort's general store, and get some bagels, milk, and or orange juice. (Yes, they are much more expensive than back home!) For breakfast, at our room in the resort, a bagel, with milk and/or orange juice. (Sometimes we would pack protein bars, from home, and eat them also.) So breakfast was MUCH cheaper than something in the parks (or in a food court). We would then eat in the parks with an early lunch to beat the crowds. (Lunch menus - same food as dinner, but less expensive [around 2/3 less expensive]. And a smaller selection.) This would tide us over for the rest of the day, with maybe a snack (ice cream cone? Danish at Norway?) Saved money on breakfast and dinner. (Not a lot, but saved none the less. :D )

My first Disney theme park visit was Disneyland in May 1972, and I was too poverty-stricken to dine, had limited time because I was part of a school group, and the only thing I knew about Disneyland was what I saw on television in vivid black and white. Disney is a time machine--turning back the clock to when I lacked the money and time to eat there. When I was in Disneyland last time, crowds were moderate, but the 90 minutes-plus to have lunch in the park was almost the same as if I had left the park, had lunch at Denny's, and returned. Then there was the expense. Walt Disney World is more difficult to exit the property, dine, and re-enter, but when my meal requires making reservations days or months in advance and the experience will take three hours, I'll have to skip the dining experience. Too much time, too much money.

We used up our dining plan. We went to Hollywood and Vine buffet. It cost 6 people $63 a person and 1 child $40 a person. Total cost was $520.00 with tax and tip and no booze. This was July 4 at Disney World. Food was average

When I worked at Walt Disney World in fall 2000 (College Program), I worked at the Crystal Palace, and considering the cost of food then, I thought it was one of the better deals in the Magic Kingdom, especially at breakfast (all meals had lots of options, but the breakfast was my favorite). Apparently, it still is, even 20+ years later. And they had Winnie the Pooh characters in 2000, not sure if they still do or not.

I wonder why there's still people wanting to spend several thousands dollars to go... to a parking lot. Because that's what parks are: parking lots for people in que. With the money of one day expenses, one can do a week on a cruise ship all included. Why should one chose Disney? Oh, right, americans...

This inflation will kill off many restaurants, people will just eat out less and when they do, they will be picky about it, same goes for resorts and theme parks. If people have to save up that much more, they will look around for the better deal, they will weigh out what kind of experience they want, and most likely pass over Disney. I think it is happening now. Loyalty is something earned and Disney has been cheaping out, giving people less than what their customer expects. They better watch that they don’t price themselves into bankruptcy.

Lets see, build, build and build. Then turn off a huge part of your fan base with crazy business decisions and start losing billions, of course they have to raise prices on everything! Pretty dumb strategy!

I'm a Cast Member, and I took my wife to Disneyland today. I'd made reservations for us at Cafe Orleans. We got a stone fruit salad to share, and then the blackened shrimp alfredo pasta and the beef bolognaise (sp?). I used my 40% dining discount coupon, and with the automatic gratuity and tax, it came out to $64. That would be around $100 for a couple, and I imagine close to $200 for a family of 4. For lunch. Then we used two of our snack coupons for some Mickey ice cream sandwiches, which would have been an additional $11.50. I mean...hell. If I didn't work at the park, this 2 hour lunch date would have cost $110. That's not including park tickets or a monthly installment plan, and/or parking. It's insane. The stone fruit salad was really really good, though.

Disney has now out priced the average American family from being able to visit for a day let alone a vacation, now they are working on out pricing upper middle income families. Keep going Disney, you are going to out price all but the Kardashians. I hope they are willing to pay your rent because the average American family has decided that they are not!!!!! Disney has gotten so disgustingly greedy, I hope they go out of business. It’s NOT ok and Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave! This IS not the way he wanted the Disney parks to be run.

Pro, please cut down on repeating yourself. There's no need for that. Concerning the topic at hand, food prices at the parks should never be higher than those outside the location unless they are specialty items that can't be purchased anywhere else. Still, it is just wrong to break people's wallets over anything, be it food and collectibles. But what to you expect from a company that doesn't care about their visitors anymore and is only in it for the cash. When it comes down to having to picnic your way around a park instead of buying the food available, then things are indeed out of control. My boss knows this problem very well since she and her family had to do that two years ago when they went to Disney World. They brought their own food and drinks in a cooler, and didn't even buy any of the overly expensive merchandise. She noted they won't be returning.

It sucks that people just accept Disney prices. Yes, touristy areas are more expensive, but Disney parks are not remote locations. One round of guests for breakfast, all at just children's prices, is around $7k (I'm guessing the capacity of the restaurant) . Say that they flip each table once per hour, that's $35k just for breakfast IF every guest were paying kids prices. Then consider how much they make for dinner.

I keep considering going back to WDW, we went for the first time in 2022 (after a 3/2020 delay for "reasons"), and had a great time. We had so much reward points saved up we used the $4k saved on food mostly. We had enough cash that it made the trip nice and the aftershock "less bad". I can't imagine going to WDW again. I want to go, but I don't have that kind of cash. With Epic looming on the horizon I thought I'd go all in on a Universal week, but I hear Epic is going to launch at a higher price and the WDW prices are going to remain "unchanged". I really hope people just stop going at some point, but that's not happening. People have the means, they will keep going. All this is doing is driving out the people who Walt used to say Disneyland was a place for... everyone. Now it's for the top 10-20% only.

I am waiting for Disney to become so greedy, that they will stop people from bringing anything to eat or drink into the park. In the 1990's and stayed at the Treehouse Villas. We bought groceries from Goodings', which is gone now, and cooked breakfast and dinner at the treehouse. It saved alot of money. We also froze our drinks to take to the park, along with snacks. And all this was back when things were not that expensive.
