I dont tip maintenance if the service is something part of the room (heating, electric, plumbing) but if its something we want that wasn't normally part of a room service , I would.

First thank you for sharing until now i havent given this a thought I plan to moving forward. I would tip maintenance because their providing a service. I'd address the resort management in regards to my concerns to my family stay. The cards is also amazing gestures. Thanks for sharing! Also for those who may not have " enough" 15-20% tips. Give from your heart. Some like me received the blessing to Disney, may not have it. You may have come to receive. Relieve yourself from the pressure "if you didn't tip enough" give from the heart. It's not for everyone to understand. Be Blessed!

Tipping stresses me out. I really don’t like tipping because I never feel right about it. I wish employers can just pay a decent wage that workers deserve. They shouldn’t have to rely on tips to make up a wage and stress out a patron in the process.

Not a fan of tipping either; worrying about carrying cash, wondering how much to tip, etc. I'd much rather it be added to my cost or like you said, employers pay better. Thanks for watching/commenting!

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't room cleaning included in the price? You're paying in some cases $300-$1000 a night. I totally agree on bag services and requests like room service orders. Same goes for sit down dining sure tip there too but tipping someone for changing a setting on a TV that should have been set to English to begin with seems a bit silly. Maintenance, room cleaning, and towels should be included in the price. You paid for that hotel to be fully functional and ready to go is how I see it.
@MermaidNinaTravels
@MermaidNinaTravels Жыл бұрын
Housekeeping has always been a Tipping Position, its the same at Disney. But yes, the Maintenance situation does seem like it should be included as the TV should have been checked prior to arrival. Thanks for watching/commenting!
@santanat
@santanat Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's included in the price because you can decline e room service but it doesn't make it cheaper. If you were paying for room service declining it would make your cost cheaper. At least in my opinion.

On a previous trip I was the last person off the Magical Express coming into Disney. I was watching as others got off bus and the driver grabbed their bags from below. I don't think a single person on that bus tipped the driver. 😡 I was glad I had the extra cash on hand and quadrupled what I would have tipped. I kinda wish I could have tipped the resort-park bus drivers when I went with my mom who was using an ECV. Loading and unloading that scooter was a lot of effort, and all the drivers did it with a smile. I also missed a tip when after dropping bags at bell services on arrival since my room wasn't ready. I came back from the park expecting to either having to visit or call them to get my luggage. But surprise surprise, they got delivered while I was out. I do wish that the US government would federally eliminate the minimum tip wage. These workers should be paid fairly from their employer from the start. Tips should be a special bonus. Too many people forget that if they can't afford the tip, they can't afford the rest of the service either. I love that about giving the McDonald's toys to cast. I'm hoping I can find something similar to keep in my park bag for my next trip. I'm still not 100% how I should handle mousekeeping tips. With the every other day service (but daily room safety checks) if I should be leaving a tip out daily or only on service days.
@MermaidNinaTravels
@MermaidNinaTravels Жыл бұрын
Yes, there were a few times I wish I could have tipped my Resort to Park Drivers too. For the Mousekeeping, that is hard right now...as like you said...they might not even visit. You could just leave $2 and if they show up and do anything, great...if not...save for the next day. Thanks for the thoughtful share and "tip"! Thanks for watching/commenting too!

I get that you pay a lot of money for your room. But the person who is cleaning it doesn’t get paid much. Whether they’re cleaning at the Grand Floridian or All Star Music, it’s all the same. I put myself through college cleaning rooms at a Ramada Inn I worked harder there than any job I had there after. I got paid minimum wage. Where I live outside Chicago, most people tip 10% of the bill. Divided by the days .. so if the total for the week is $25000, you pay $250 divided by the number of days you got housekeeping and indeed pay eac day that one day’s worth.
@MermaidNinaTravels
@MermaidNinaTravels Жыл бұрын
Interesting. So people aren't paying a say flat rate for Housekeeping? I also pay the same, Vale or Deluxe per Housekeeping but its not a % of my Room cost? Thanks for watching/commenting.

Wow as I live in Europe I can't really understand tipping in USA. I think is really disrespectful for your government allow companies not to pay a fair income and people need to rely in tips to survive in the month, is shameful. Also, people are so lazy, how about carrying your own bags? I will tip because is the country way and I want to help people, but I do because I feel sorry for this people, because the services you said is part of the places you are already paying for.

What is a best practice on tipping at dining locations? Is it to leave a cash tip on the table, add to the payment method (credit/gift card), or is either acceptable?

I am going to Disney with a limited amount of money. IF I tipped everyone. I would not be able to enjoy Disney. Do not want to be a scrooge. I generally don't ever tip. I know that sounds bad. But I have got to eat. Would also like to get a few souvenirs to take home with me. I am not rich. Just work a small part time job. Is there something else I could do instead of using money? Would love to tip. Can't afford that part of the trip. Thanks for the video though.

@@reneehughes I saw the video. I can't tip every Tom Dick Or Harry. I have been wanting to do a Disney trip for years. I had to take a loan out to do it ! I will be paying for this trip for the rest of my life. I do appreciate all the work the people do. A good Thank you is all I can do. It not just soviniers. I need to eat to. I need this Vaca. I have been dealing with alot. I am not going to get into it. I am not rich like some people that can do a Disney vacation every year. Your message really hurt me.
@remyd8767

Just budget it in your trip. Also don't rely on these services to save money on tipping. You don't need to have anyone help you with your bags. But you can't get anyway not tipping your room, any dine in restaurants, any drinks at the bar. All in all, you should have about $50 in tip money just in case. In the grand scheme of things, if your vacation is going any $3-5k, $50 isn't a big deal.
@MermaidNinaTravels
@MermaidNinaTravels Жыл бұрын
I get that tipping can cause issues as its funds people didn't necessarily plan on spending, but it is part of life. I did give a suggestion at the end of the video for other ideas, I would 100% make sure to do that. As far as tips, there are only a few places that tips are customary...just avoid those. Carry own bags, don't eat at Sit-down locations, decline Housekeeping, etc. As I said in the video, you don't really tip in the parks, so its mostly hotel and transportation staff. Have a great trip! Thanks for watching/commenting!
