My wife and I love Disneyland! My Dad says his sister was dating a reporter for the LA Times when Disneyland opened and claims he was there opening day. I dont know if that's true or not, but I like to believe it is. Regardless, this is my attempt at restoring and upscaling to HD the opening broadcast from Sunday, July 17, 1955. Please join Art Linkletter, Ronald Reagan, a host of other stars from the era and of course, the great Walt Disney on this historic day! I hope you enjoy the video!

I would have loved to have been there but I wasn't even born, I wasn't even a contemporary of Walt DISNEY because when I was born he was no longer alive. The man, the legend, THE MYTH. HOW GREAT THIS MAN NAMED WAS WALT DISNEY!!!

My Dad claims he was there. His sister was dating a photographer for the LA Times and he says he got in with them. Then again, my dad's an idiot so he might believe that happened but it never did 😂

Will never forget it actually talked to waltDisnay on first day ,didn't realize how special to go befor it was oprn to.the.public,will never forget it special time,to be invited with family friends,😊

When Disney read the dedication of Tomorrowland: “with the hope of a peaceful unified world”. When you look at the world now, so much for that.

I see one thing that would likely get redacted, that Aunt Jemima jig. Where's the Silver Banjo Barbeque steakhouse that's owned by Don DeFore? I would like to try it out.

Silver banjo didn't open until 1957. Some day it opened in June while others suggest August. No matter though because it sounds like it was amazing!

@@EDGeProjects Yes! Here is the only thing I can find personally, but it's not of opening day. The opening day of Disneyland is one Walt Disney introduced the mouseketeers. They didn't have their TV debut until October of that year. But they were seen in the park before then. @@EDGeProjects Look at early photos of the park and how many things didn’t even have fences around them. Folks must have known to keep out better back then.

It certainly does sharpen up black and white. What was the original source? This was at least released on DVD as part of the 50th anniversary box set (or something in those tin boxes). I don’t recall if it ever got a BluRay release.

This is from the DVD box set that was in the silver box you are thinking of. I don't recall a BluRay either. I tried taking it to 4k but it looked way too artificial.

I used a couple of apps to upscale. Topaz video and the other two apps which I will try to post when I can find the names of them
