8:00 sends me back to 2013 when I was twelve, Disneyland was insanely packed and all we could easily get on was the Disneyland Railroad. I instantly fell in love with the narrator's voice and captured that memory forever. Sad he wasn't able to record the new narration, so thanks for this!

I made a comment on one of these videos years ago thanking MrThemeParkAudios for uploading these vids and allowing those that can't visit the parks to at least have an opportunity to feel as though they're there. Well, since then I've worked at Disney World, Disneyland and am going back to working at Disneyland again soon. Again, thank you MrThemeParkAudios for what you do, your videos not only allow people to feel as though they're in the parks but also help reminiscence of the good ol' days. Thank You.

This year I took the grand circle tour at least 3 times in a row if not more because I was sick and couldnt really get up. I nearly memorized it all! Though I fell asleep at one point and woke up face to face with a pterodactyl and was like WTF!!? This is probably the ride I wind up doing most just to get around. I remember my feet hurting so much and it was freezing cold that night and we waited for that bright light to appear in the distance at tomorrowland station.

The voice is Earl Hindman from the show Home Improvement. He sadly passed away in 2003.
@MrMywildside Жыл бұрын
The original narrator voice on the train ride is Thurl Ravenscroft, one of the Disneyland Mellowmen and the voice of Tony the Tiger.
@WaltsNephew5 жыл бұрын
Best narration in the history of the Disneyland Railroad (all due respect to Thurl Ravenscroft). The new narration today is lifeless and does not convey the same sense of feeling and emotion that Earl Hindman was capable of doing
@DarthBrtt4 жыл бұрын
This is actually incorrect info that was posted on Wikipedia and sadly now regarded as fact when it is actually false. The narration was actually done by actor Earl Boen, another popular voive actor who did a lot of work for Disney in the '80s-2000s. He is most famous for playing the doctor in the Terminator films.
@WaltsNephew4 жыл бұрын
@@DarthBrtt I revisited Boen to listen, and I can hear the similarity. However, when one takes into consideration Earl Hindman already had a contract with Disney at the time of the recording for this narration it makes sense that Hindman is the voice. As a viewer of "Home Improvements," it is unmistakable to hear Earl Hindman as the narrator
@DarthBrtt4 жыл бұрын
@@WaltsNephew It's funny, because I feel the same way about it being Boen - I can hear similarities that it's Hindeman, but it's unmistakably Boen. Boen actually worked with Disney just as much, if not more than Hindeman though and more recently than Hindeman had after Home Improvement ended in '99. Boen had done voice work since the late 80's for Disney and had done work for them throughout the '90s (Bonkers, Boy Meets World , Empty Nest and numerous others) and all the way up thru 2006 (he was on Buzz Lightyear in 2000 and popped up on Kim Possible from 2002-2006). So it's definitely up for debate I guess. I actually am going to reach out to Mr. Boen and see if he can actually confirm if it was him or not. I'll keep ya posted!
@DarthBrtt4 жыл бұрын
@@WaltsNephew Here's a clip Mr. Boen is in that was right around the same time the railroad narration would have been recorded (2000-2001). It sounds exactly like Boen to me, not just the voice but the way he emphasizes words and the accent. Start at 0:20 seconds in: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b8yndbOT2Z-ZpnU.html

Can anyone explain why, as the train approaches the monorail there's a mechanical whine on the track? It isn't a sound effect, it's actually somehow a recording or playback defect. Also there seems to be two vocal tracks playing as the train leaves Tomorrow land and heads into the Grand Canyon diarama, and as it pulls into Main Street Station. It's not just here on this recording I hear it at the park too. And I'm not complaining I think it's an odd part of the ride's charm. Just curious.
@Tomsonic416 жыл бұрын
When the park first opened, this would have been on an audio cassette or 8-track being started and stopped by a cast member. It kinda sounds like interference leaking into the amplifier as the train goes round the park, but then it wouldn't be on the raw recording! I'd guess some kind of analogue interference when duplicating the tapes caused this, as well as the faint whistling you can hear at certain points.

Do any fans out there know why this is the music heard on the Disneyland railroad with the dinosaurs? Is this a piece of classical music? Did Walt decide to use Bernard Herrmann’s score for reasons …? If you don’t know, this music is featured on Ray Harryhausen‘s 1961 mysterious island. Listen to the film soundtrack: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/esWqeKmDrp3Gj2g.html But I do also love that they use the Grand Canyon suite. Although that’s kind of a giveaway LOL
@prcushinplaya0811 жыл бұрын
You know, I was wondering the same thing. I can answer your second curiosity though. You hear two voices, because the audio of the carriages in front and behind you are not the same as yours. This is, I suppose, to enlarge the effects of props near a carriage, so you're not spoiled the surprise. Thus, when entering the diorama, the carriage in front of you (logically) starts an earlier audio than your own. Cool effect though.

Pretty sure the Christmas Story "borrowed" the music from 6:42. Well done to Disney and the Christmas Story :)
@AlexTheRailroader8 жыл бұрын
+Brad Goings yes you are right. The music is a composition called The Grand Canyon Suite, which Walt Disney studios filmed footage at the Grand Canyon to synchronize with the music. A few years later when the Diorama opened, it seemed only natural to use the music from The Grand Canyon Suite to play while people viewed the diorama. And the movie the Christmas Story used the music from the Grand Canyon Suite. -Interesting enough, the music for the Primeval World Diorama is taken from the movie Mysterious Island, which was not a Disney production.
