Jax's ended just feels like it was written by a white person trying to be as not-racist as possible. Also making it Geras' ending sounds way better

It's like if Erron Black's ending was preventing the Irish Potato Famine.

Funny thing is, Jax from the very beginning, his introduction in MK2, embodied a red-blooded, PROUD American. MK9 made that abundantly clear with him with his match victory pose whipping out Old Glory and then draping it on his back like a cape. He very clearly is not a modern progressive character in any way shape or form, and that's still abundantly apparent in his MK11 character arc. Honestly, I just love Jax's character because he's a man who loves, fights and literally died for his country and his a loving father and a reliable partner and friend. Jax was never a character who was identified by his color and never judged others by their race. And so, his ending in MK11 is an insult to his character, because the writers clearly saw Jax only by his color and wrote an ending for him as such.

The issue is kinda that it reduces his personality effectively down to the fact he's black. It tokenises him. He deserves more than being a token.

If Geras got that ending instead of Jax it would’ve literally bumped up his character as a whole. I would’ve actually sympathized with him instead of just seeing him as a killing machine.

I agreed on this topic 100%. If our race/ethnicity determined what type of person we are. Then every black person would be carbon copies of each other. And the same obviously goes for other races/ethnicities.

Jax’s ending should’ve been about him becoming a President of the United States because you know, his character arc was all about American patriotism, not racism.

Kano actually has one of the more interesting ones. He tries the whole God Emperor thing, realizes there's no fun in it, and rewrites time so that he just does his shenanigans he doesn't even let himself win most of the time.

I hated Jax's ending as he could remove slavery with no backlash, yet every other character had consequences for their actions. Hell even his own daughter Jacqui couldn't bring his wife back, so she had to give up her life as a consequence!

Thank you SO MUCH for saying Jax's overall character is MORE than just simply being a Black character.

These the same damn writers who say Sindel evil cause of her appearence? First off Sindel was ressurected to look like that her MK3 ending showed how she look when she was alive stupid NetherRealm they get me more upset with these retcons and unnecessary BS.

I hate how anybody who isn’t black is considered “racist” for criticizing this ending while black people like myself who do the same are suddenly “self hating” and “slavery apologists”.

I remember a time when distilling characters down to superficial qualities was almost universally viewed as a negative, since it leads to people creating bland, flat, and poorly executed characters that are irrelevant to, or actively hinder the story people were trying to tell, as well as insulting the intelligence of the audience by expecting to be given head pats and a cookie for having a minority character. Make a character good, and write them well and consistently, and no one whose opinion you should listen to will give a damn if they are a minority or not.

You gotta love how in twitter's mindset you can have one of your favorite films be Blade 2 but not liking black panther is racist.

The saddest part of all this is that there was absolutely a way to mention the slave trade in Jax's ending without changing his character.
