Something that finally got me to comprehend some of the most asinine comments regarding ER and souls games as a whole was the realization that the majority of people saying "git gud" or "no bro, this boss has great hitboxes you are just bad" and so on didn't actually play the game. They only watch speedruns, no-hit runs or streamers play the game and never actually touch it. Was watching a Gino stream the other day, and legit these same people in his chat didn't even know how the Leda fight worked. Its why you will get comments like "but it can be done at level 1 hitless you are just bad" all the time, because they don't understand what it is to actually learn how to do that. Its a shame that souls isn't immune to this sort of thing. I've seen it in other genres and because the criticism gets obscured by people who didn't play the game, it always leads to a detriment in quality.

Speaking on hard mode in games, BG3 does it well. Bosses gain new immunities and moves based on difficulty, so you can’t, as an experienced player, go in and nuke them down. Granted, the game is still easy like any other game would be for someone who has played a game a few times, BUT it is the change in boss mechanics that makes it interesting as well.

I must say Scadutree Avatar makes the rank of "easy boss that had way too many kills on me" grade. But I acknowledge he wasn't ridiculously difficult and this is a me problem. Everyone has at least one boss that isn't difficult but just rubbed you the wrong way, due to your build, playstyle, or both

Dude! I made a KZfaq channel (different channel than this) and spent weeks working on a video and uploaded it. Intentionally ignored the comments for months because I was terrified of what people would say bc the internet is ruthless. This inspired me to not care as much, man thanks

Yeah, I'll admit it. The avatar killed me more than midra, the mother of fingers, and messmer combined... I don't know why but it's attacks are almost impossible for me to learn.( Especially that dash attack that I've seen it do five time in a row.) New game plus didn't help at all. I second tried messmer but the avatar killed me six times before i beat it with no flasks remaining.( Blessing level 12-16 btw.... I just suck at the game.)

with that perez story on your resume, you could probably make a really good "Uninformed Lore" video on souls lore based on what you understood from playing the game, without reading item descriptions and making up 90% of it

As someone well versed in souls combat, and an advicate that shield use is valid, Prime Radahn can bite my ass. His first phase is really fun! Hell I even went out of my way to learn how to attack him with only charged collossal sword heavys. But that second phase is a load of crap. Comparing it to Gael isn't even fair because at least you can see the cape coming! The light beams appear near instantly. And at the end of that one combo? they reach for a friggen mile! Not only are you dodging the swords. You're dodging the slam aoe, the aoe from him yanking it out of the ground, and lastly the light beams. 1 part of that attack, WILL hit you if you don't double roll at the precise time, and even then it still might get clipped by it, just because it's way too much to avoid in a single roll. And if you get hit before that ender? The light beam with sagger you into the final hit, and you will die. Immediately. I know because it almost happened to me. I had 60 vigor, opaline hard tear, 20 blessings, the dragon crest greatshield talisman, and I still ONLY survived with a pixel of health, because I had the crimson amber medalion on. This was with heavy armor too. Raging wolf helm, Scaled arms and torso, and Bullgoat legs. Not to mention phase 2 is such a visual clusterfuck. After his ariel shadow clone bullshit combo starter, I always get hit because I LITERALLY can't see what he's doing. From took a fun fight and actively made it unbareable. I beat him with mimic tear eventually, but damn did it feel hollow...

Not as a negativie but I really did had a much harder time fighting the scadu avatar than messmer.. something about his dashes and the explosions just caught me off guard almoat every single time. His slow attacks just took me by surprise so many times, the timing was so hard for me Messmer really took me about 5 tries I'd say, simply because the 2nd phase was easier than the first for me. It had more openings and if you hit both Messmer and his snake, you do double damage. I actually dont know his attack patterns at all, while I can now do the avatar in my sleep since it took me so many times. I dont think your ranking is wrong though, I see so much posts about Messmer difficulty, and the avatar really seems easy, I just couldn't hack it

Those lists can be very different based on the player. Me petsonally am on NG+ now and I say that Dancing Lion went up a few points for me, but he rinces me. And Rellana to me is really not that hard and took me like 3 tries I think while Dancing Lion A LOT more. Same thing in Sekiro. Owl Father? Not bad. Great Shinobi? Rinced me. DS3. Demon King? Got destroyed. Sullivahn? First try. Experiences in those games can be VERY different for many. Me personally, I have issue with large bosses while humanoid ones are less of a hassle. And I suck at managing area of effect that cover area with something like Poison of Great Shinobi or Mogh's blood. But I can tell out of all of that when something is broken. And Radahn is. The only boss that forced me to change my build because not only was I frustrated, but I felt no satisfaction or fun. Could I power through with my build? Probably. But if it's not fun why bother? Especially with bosses with such broken hitboxes like Gayus and Radahn. Rellana also has some questionable ones with that spin even if she is not that hard for me. My top 3 are easily Bayle, Messmer and Midra is easily my favorite.

At first I didn’t like radahns nuke move but then I started using it for healing and rebuffing. I did beat him without summons (which was grueling) but the boss was bullshit in a lot of ways like being unable to see his swings after explosions or light beams come down. Took like 4-5 hours and I still never felt like I mastered him

Fell like if the bosses weren’t people would complain that the bosses would be too easy and then would become a joke on later playthroughs I feel like the real joy in bosses come after you’ve learned their move set on later playthroughs when you’ve had over 200 hours

Elden ring bosses are only the hardest if you fight them without summons or ashes of war. With just ashes of war, i find them no harder than previous games (except maybe malenia tbf, specifically just becauae of waterfowl).

My favorite thing about fromsoft bosses is their aura i guess for lack of better term, but seeing prime rahdan at the gates of divinity scared the fuck out of me knowing we beat him at his lowest and in that rite I think fromsoft did good on the final boss and the others too they’re all hard in their own ways but after you learn the patterns you can dog walk MOST of them

Scadavatar is hard but ppl are meat riding him I think people just had trouble becaude they couldn’t see his weak spot I didn’t realize it was there till like 20 attempts and I saw the third heath bar with 3 estus’s like shit but next attempt I realized I was autistic
