Dissidia 012: Duodecim - The Emperor vs. 000 Feral Chaos (Near Perfect Run)

The short version: Thunder Crest makes Feral Chaos whimper.
The long version: This may have been my easiest run yet. I know other people like to camp at the top of the stage with the Emperor, setting up Flares and Dreary Cells, then start charging Starfall. While I think there's nothing wrong with that strategy, it seemed a tad slow for my tastes, so I decided to duke it out with Feral Chaos on the ground. Thunder Crest is an amazing combo enabler. And when you get hit by a full combo from the Emperor, trust me: it HURTS.
Given the small stage and Feral Chaos's huge size, it's obvious that he'd have a hard time dodging the Emperor's traps. Thunder Crest is especially brutal, as getting caught in that may mean upwards of 8-9k damage. Thunder Crest is the most reliable way to hit with Landmines, which deal incredible damage. There's a reason why they're normally hard to hit with: a single landmine does comparable damage to a full skillchain combo from Prishe, and the Emperor drops TWO on you while you're held in place by Thunder Crest. With Fragile Pride and Counterattack active to make everything do critical damage, the landmines were doing well over 2000 damage each. Then I just have to follow up with a Jecht assist into a second Thunder Crest, and top it all off with my choice of Flare or Dreary Cell. This combo is amazingly easy to pull off against Feral Chaos, especially since the Emperor builds assist stupidly fast with his landmines. Given how simple it was to go from base to 9999 brave with a single combo, it almost felt like I was using an Iai Strike build.
I got a bit sloppy in the middle there when I was late on calling my assist, then accidentally switched off my lock on Feral Chaos, thus preventing me from seeing what he was actually doing. But I managed to recover and finish strong. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this run apart from the mistakes made in the middle.
I'm going to take a break from Feral Chaos runs for a bit, but I'll be doing more in the future. Who else would you guys want to see me use?

Unfortunately, even with The Emperor's unrelenting assistance and tutoring, Feral Chaos' tap dancing routine never got off the ground.

Emperor Mateus was one of my favorite characters to play as as I just loved the trap-based combat. My buddy turned me over to this guy for that very reason and I have no regrets. What I found even funnier is one of my other favorites is Firion(my first successful solo Feral Chaos run character).

My Emperor works mostly in the same way, with a few exeptions 1- I Use the Alternative Skin 2 (Purple Robe)(It Gives more of a Pimp look ading to Mateus's Pimp Cane Attack(bombard)). 2- I'm more Stratigic in the positioning of my Tundercrests 3- I usualy camp on a Tundercrest and with a DearyCell or Areal Flare 4- Whille I'm camping I am taunting with Starfall(AI Mindfuck) Particular cases 1- I let Kain's jump hit while i'm on Tundercrest because he'll be caught 2- Shantoto=Blue Flare+Starfall

You know you can also use aerial version of Flare after Feral Chaos trapped by Thunder Crest because it causes Wall Rush (downward).

And here I am trying EXP->Brave like a sucker. (Mostly his penchant for using Shinryu Verus to eventually give himself enough Brave to OHKO me even though I'm repeatedly wailing on him for 9999)

My favorite thing to do was cast both Flares, hang out inside one of them, and spam Starfall. The hitbox prevents enemies from getting too close.

Well im greatly impressed with the run you did with the emperor...Im going to give it a try myself to see how will i do. I know he must be one of the hardest to make a run with this type of boss but Ill give it a try to see how it goes.

i don't know but the mines are very effective, i beat the crap out of Chaos more than a hundred times using The emperor(cause i know the emperor have more potential) by using land mines Flare,flare Mines, trap wew, perfect combination.

Where did you get Emperor's equipment at because I look all over in the shop and found no Mateus's Malice, Blue Moon, Royal Crown, Rainbow Robes and the same thing with the accesories.

How about Thunder Crest > Mine > Jecht > Thunder Crest > Aerial Flare instead? Aerial Flare gives extra Wall Rush (ground) damage.
