Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. Movember is the largest funder of prostate cancer programs in the world.
What is prostate cancer?
The prostate is a gland located immediately below the bladder, in front of the bowels. It produces fluid that protects and enriches sperm. Prostate cancer occurs when some of the cells in the prostate reproduce far more rapidly than normal, resulting in a tumour. If left untreated, prostate cancer cells may eventually spread from the prostate and invade distant parts of the body, particularly the lymph nodes and bones, producing secondary tumours in a process known as metastasis.
One of the most worrying aspects of the disease is that most prostate cancers develop without men experiencing any symptoms in the early stages.
What are the risk factors for prostate cancer?
Prostate cancer only affects men, as women do not have a prostate gland. Risk factors in developing the disease include:
Age: The older a man, the more likely he is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. If you’re 50 or over, chat with your doctor about PSA testing.
Family History: A man with a father or brother who developed prostate cancer is twice as likely to develop the disease. If you’re 45 or over and prostate cancer is in your family, you should strike up the conversation about PSA testing with your doctor.
Ethnicity: Prostate cancer has an increased occurrence in men of African and Afro-Caribbean descent. If you’re 45 or over, get in contact with your doctor about PSA testing.
For more information on prostate cancer including symptoms, testing, treatment options and support resources, head over to the ‘your health’ section on Movember.com.
Suicide Prevention | Men's Mental Health
3 out of 4 suicides are men
510,000 men die from suicide globally each year. That’s one every minute. This has to change.
The causes of suicide are complex. There’s no single reason why men take their own lives, but we do know that by improving overall mental health we can reduce the risk of suicide. We need to address untreated mental health conditions among men.
Too many men are toughing it out and struggling alone. There’s no shame in checking in your own mental wellbeing, and those close to around you. Our friends over at Movember have produced some handy guides, that might help take the sting out of broaching the subject.
Together, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and Movember are breaking down these barriers that exist in men, but we need your help.
Thanks for watching! See you soon.
The Captain.

Well done all. I was due to do the ride that was local to me down here in Cornwall, but rather ironically I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February and had surgery ( a robotic radical prostatectomy) on 28th April, meaning that I was unable to take part in the ride. Hopefully be back on the bike soon. It is so worth getting checked - I had no real symptoms and mine was detected through PSA testing , MRI and biopsy. Follow up consultation is on 1st July when I'll learn more about outcome of the surgery - fingers crossed they've got it all. This is such a worthy cause. Glad you all had a great day.

@@CaptainRambunctious Thanks Captain. I've had various bikes from a Guzzi California, Triumph Bonnie to a Honda Monkey bike, but currently on a Honda Forza 350 Scooter ( not dissimilar to the Kymco 500 you were riding on one of your vids) - which hopefully because of the relaxed seating and comfy riding position will enable me to get going again quickly. Yep - we have some great roads down here, my favourite route being down the Atlantic Highway from Bude down the north coast and from St Ives around the Lands End peninsula - both of which `I know you have ridden yourself. Yes can't wait to get back out riding again. Hopefully it won't be too long a wait!! Thanks once again and keep up the vids - great entertainment.

Wish I'd known you were visiting the Triumph factory...have a few parts on order that are keeping my sidekick Speed Twin 'Baldrick' off the road down here in Oz... Waiting since mid Dec 2021. Oh bother. Give 'em a kick for me, please. Until then, I'll just have to ride vicariously with you it seems. Thanks for the chuckles and riding for just causes yet again!

Nice job fellas. I know use to have a Trusty Thruxton R and I'm coming up to my sixth year of ownership on my 2016. Proud to say rhe Thruxton R hit 151 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats in August 2021. I knew you would appreciate still flying the flag.👍

@@CaptainRambunctious You got the best the stock bike can do. Like many bikes today the throttle bodies will close to 70 to 75% around 6400 rpm. You were probably at the redline with the stock gearing anyways so the throttle bodies closing didn't hurt you. You are correct to go faster you need higher gearing and that is when the throttle body issue hurts. Now we can reprogram the ECU to allow 100% throttle body opening. Add in a cam, a decent slip on and a bit of aerodynamics we got to 151 mph. As a flyer you know how the density of altitude effects performance, at Bonneville that run was done at around 6900 feet. I believe the correction for sea level was 165 mph.

Looked like a great route and weather to match. Very nice attire Sir. Wish I had been paying more attention and realised the DGR was here once again and come along as Leicester isn't too far for me to ride. However seeing so many idiots riding so dangerously overtaking fast on blind bends would have meant I would have had a meltdown or had to stop. I don't like riding in groups at the best of times but not least with selfish tossers like those we saw in your video. No excuse for that sort of riding. Apart from this it looked a really rather fantastic day. The Triumph factory is a must see although I want to visit when it re-opens after their re-organisation this summer when I believe they will start building more of their models back in Hinckley. More Capt. Rumbunctious videos please. Donated as well.

Thank you very much Alex! THat's very generous of you!! I think that as long as you stick to your own bit of road and keep your wits about you, riding in a group isn't so bad... There wasn't any fast riding sections... Makes it easier... It was a fantastic day! I didn't know that they were doing a reorganise... But I will be popping in more often now for a cuppa as they have a good and well stocked cafe... Huzzah!! Thanks for watching and especially for donating!
