This is so powerful. As a mum and a believer, we trusted God for normal delivery of our first born and I did everything I was told by the doctor. I did walks, I had the ball for exercise, I was actually very active. When time came for delivery, I was not dilating at all. The doctor even induced me twice and I did not dilate more than 4cm for so long. The doctor advised a CS to be done and we agreed to it and signed the papers. Baby was delivered safely and I healed well. We trusted God through it all. Let's not be too spiritual as long as the baby is delivered safely and the life of the mother is not put in danger Let's keep our minds open to CS and listen to the doctors advice. Infact I have remembered the doctor said she could not leave me, God put a burden in her to remain and monitor the baby, by the time I went to theatre she realised the baby had began to release stool in my womb, had she delayed that would have been another story. Let's trust God on all things and not insist on natural birth. God bless you Winlos

When it comes to malaria medication we don’t even pray. We just take because it is a “small case” But C-section… God should help us. Sometimes the issue is not faith, it is lack of money and trying to hope that prayer will help save the money which should have been used for CS.

The whole world needs to see this video...... These things happen everyday and as a health worker, I know how frustrating it could be advising people to undergo c/s in extreme cases ...... May God grant us wisdom to be able to do the right thing at the right time.... Also people fail to understand that to deliver with c/s is a miracle on its own too.

When trying to make decision in life we tend to run to pastors and family but the only one who can help us we ignore. Lord help us to have a relationship with you and surround our life with people who we can lean on at times, real people! 🙏🏽

Women, you don’t need your husband’s approval to sign papers for a surgery. You are not a minor and you are the one carrying the child in your womb not your husband. Save your life and that of the child always. God gave Doctors wisdom to save lives.

Great piece. There is no difference between children born through the normal birth canal and CS. Children born through CS are equally smart, gifted and blessed as those of the other method. Infact, there is no difference between them. However, in Africa, we attach some disrespect to CS as if it is for the cursed. It's high time we changed our way of thinking concerning this subject.

It is pathetic that in this present dispensation many women lose their lives during childbirth owing to ignorance, wrong orientation/beliefs and lack of fund. Childbirth generally is an issue of life and death, and every available option should be explored in order to save the lives involved (Mother and Baby). I totally agree that childbirth whether through the natural method or cesarean section is a miracle. Thanks to the Winlos for this educative piece.

The sad truth is that this may happen repeatedly except some of our pastors and prophets accept the fact that God has endorsed the medical profession to solve problems like other economic sectors. When we fail to apply common sense in all we do and attribute everything to demons and evil spirit people will keep on dying needless deaths.

Hmmmn, this reminds me so much of when I was in labour as well, and my cervix only stopped at 5cm dilation beautiful baby was taking really long to come, my husband with all his Ekiti stubborness told the doctor that even his mother who's shorter than I am gave birth to 9 children, his sis was also only drinking one Holy Water from a prayer ground somewhere. I told the doctor pop and plain that he's not the one in pain for almost 24hours with hot drip, they should wheel me to the theatre with all speed and alacrity. Now I carry my beautiful baby and my scar around with so much pride. No one knows babies who were born through C.S or natural birth they all develop the same way except the devil comes to sow tares... What made my husband believe God's hand is involved as well was when a woman who was wheeled in after me gave up the ghost so sad :-(

Over spirituality has really eaten deep into the heart,mind and life of Christians this days that they forget or keep deaf ears when God is speaking in some certain things. Sometimes we see the red flags but choose to ignore it and at the end we ask 'God why have you forsaken me'. Thank you so much Winlos for you posts. I always look forward to them. I have to say though: In the first place, regardless of the religion, tradition and what not, It is the duty of the medical doctor and other clinicians to carry out the CS. Their priority is to save life. The pregnant woman is independent and does not need the consent of the husband to carry that out. Waiting for the husband consent is assuming the wife is the PROPERTY of the husband. She is not a property. You only need consent for kids under 18. Infact, you don’t even need consent for for a pregnant child under 18, as she is considered emancipated. I blame the doctors and clinicians for the death of the wife. I have to disagree that many educated Christians do not “walk” in this pattern as they try to balance both. The problem is mostly tradition and education. Has very little to do with religion. A first leap to change has to begin with public education and re-educating doctors on whom they need consent from.

Anuoluwa po well in most part of the world, you need consent from who has the power of attorney like a next of kin (which in most cases for a woman is her husband) in order for a CS procedure to be done. It had nothing to do with someone owning somebody. Every surgical procedure regardless of how life changing it is, is considered Gross Bodily Harm (GBH) and carry a lot of legal implications. In cases especially where a CS wasn’t a topic of discussion before the woman went into labour, consent cannot be taken from the woman because she is considered “unfit”, due to the agony she is in to make clear headed decisions. There has to be someone who has the power of attorney (which could be her mother, sister, father, husband etc) to sign and confirm such decision. In some cases however, where a woman’s decision maker is seeming or acting “unreasonable” and not in the best interest of the wife, she could sort of fight the decision with a lawyer and the medical panel and have her way. No surgery is just surgery, there is a lot of legal work behind the scene. Before a doctor can carry out a procedure, he has to show that the party involved understands what the surgery is, how it will be done, and it’s risks. You can’t necessarily tell this to a woman in severe labour pains.GOD Will help us.

This is tantamount to murder. The man and his family should be in jail. Any family that tries this should go to jail. This is not ignorance. It's wickedness and selfishness. They did it because it's not their daughter. The spirit of that woman should make sure that the man remain single for the rest of his life in case he bribes his way out of jail. Chai! So many women die every year because of stupidity and superstition. I never wanted normal delivery but even the gyno was encouraging me to do normal because of future deliveries. I had to insist and the nurse was giving me attitude. After delivery na she first tell me say I made a good decision because the baby was in danger. Don't allow people push you into what you can't handle no matter how educated or spiritual they are...

The laws need to change, I think there was a time it was changed. A pregnant woman is an adult, she is carrying the pregnancy because she chose to. The point of consent should be principally the patient, any other person is just a stakeholder and Even stakeholders get levels. A loving husband will not tell his wife to keep pushing harder..mmmm Wisdom Lord🙏

It’s a professional thing to do because the woman is seen as one who is not in the right frame of mind to make decisions at that point, she can say anything as a result of the pain she is going through, some of them even used to tell the doctor to kill them that they can’t be alive and bear the pain. So the husband is regarded as her companion and family to make a decision on her behalf. So incase anything goes wrong the woman will not deny that she gave consent and the doctor will not be held responsible.

As a Christian woman, I believe God gave wisdom of Caesarean delivery to scientists and doctors. A lot of lives have been saved as a result. "My people perish for lack of knowledge," the Bible says. The midwives said the Hebrew women delivered without assistance because they wanted to avert Pharaoh's wrath. That passage of the Bible has been misunderstood or misinterpreted.
