I lost a brother in Afghanistan, we first bonded over our love of Disturbed and this was his favorite song. I could not understand why until after he died. We said we were going to go see Disturbed when we got home, I have seen Disturbed live several time now and they have played Prayer every time. When it plays I can feel he is there with me. Semper Fi brother, I will see you again one day.

This song hits home for me. I was a heroin addict who lost everything. My house, my car, my family, my friends, I lost everything.. but I got it all back. October 21st 2022 is my 10 years clean mark. I got my family, my friends, my kids, my house and car, I got it all back with a little bit of hope and willpower.

Congrats man. I was a heroin addict too who lost everything my 5 yrs clean was on September 27 the last time I went to jail. I used to listen to this song all the time in addiction but have found more meaning in it in recovery!

I had recently lost my fiancee & baby girl in a car accident, was about to end my life and this song came on. That beligerant "Fine fucking take everything" attitude made me angry enough to keep living and eventually heal. I will be a Disturbed fan for life.

I recently suffered from depression and sucidal thoughts and this was one of the songs that helped pull me out from that low place and honestly from the bottom of my heart I want to thank bands like Disturbed for making songs such as"Prayer." as you may never know who needs help out there to get out of their low points where the help in this case came in the form of a song. I especially resonated with the light aspect of the video as it truly relates to my situation where I just need some light to cleanse all the darkness away from my life and get on with living in peace instead of misery.

A great friend of mine in middle school, was a die-hard Disturbed fan (6th through 8th grade). So much so, when he was taken from us a couple years ago in a car accident before the pandemic, some classmates and I, who havent seen each-other in about 10 years since we graduated, played this at his funeral in his honor.

This song gives me strength in my darkest times. I'm truly going through a hell of a lot right now and I'm praying everyday that my beloved will get the help she truly needs and deserves. I pray to have a guardian angel watch over her and my children. I pray that the demons that have infected her mind are cast out and that she come back to us. I continue to pray for the strength to make it through this difficult time and I know God is carrying me through this.

This album was made while the singer was dealing with his grandmothers death, to him it was his mom. The whole album believe is uplifting. He was into death metal. Loss changes perspectives. You find new value in little things. Keep the faith and push on.

This song came out almost 10 months after 9/11. MTV refused to show this on air because they felt people would be triggered by the falling buildings. It's my all time favorite. MTV should have played it. It would have done more good than anything else that was on at that time and Disturbed's message rings loud in this anthem. Lifetime fan since 2001! To David and the crew... don't ever stop.

I remember mornings back in 2004, getting ready to go to school, I was in 8th grade. Every morning I'd watch the Fuse channel and this would play, along with Lost Prophets, Trapt, Three Days Grace, AFI, Slipknot, Breaking Benjamin, Blink 182, Chevelle, Smile Empty Soul, SOAD, The Offspring, and some others. I loved Heavy Metal and Punk Rock, and still do!!

Me too. At 21 Currently. My mom always played Disturbed in the car. I grew up listening to Down With the Sickness. Of course, she had to turn it down for 5 year old me for that Ike part. When asked why she did that she always told me “that’s not your part” and it’s an inside joke with us now. Seen them live a few times now. Got to see Disturbed live just before COVID happened too. This song speaks to my soul its a conversation between david and god after 9/11 and the passing of his grandfather. I also had a rough year, that year. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in april I lost my grandpa in may and then September 11th happened. This is the way I pray too, David! Rock on

I'm 51 and just started seriously listening to Disturbed this year. Or should I say 2020. The music, for some reason, has really helped me a lot. I've always been into rock but this music has given me a new outlook on life and a reason to get up in the morning. My husband passed away in 2019 after 3 bouts with lung cancer. It has been a very rough 6 years.. I needed something to wake me up and this certainly did it! Now I'm going to Staind and Disturbed by myself in July. Lol

Such a dope song and great message, it will never get old even after all these years... Ughhh.. Disturbed is just such an awesome band flat out. How could you not vibe with literally everything basically that they've ever put out? Disturbed and KoRn in my mind are just simply both up there on totally different levels from any other artists/bands regardless of genre even IMHO... The hit making ability that both Disturbed and KoRn have to continually release timeless classic after timeless classic all while making it look easy to produce awesome music. Btw, abt praying and how he/we should do it etc. etc... For any Christians out there who aren't alrdy aware of the "Burning Bush Prayer", do yourselves a big favor and go Google it and recite it... All I can say is that it def. strengthened my relationship w/ the man upstairs for sure, and gave him the open invitation to come into my life and guide me/us etc. Check it out guys, and God bless for real ...... RIP Uncle Henry hes wasnt my blood uncle but he made me love disturbed and ill never forget him

@Jose Leonardo Lemus: Correct. I remember hearing David Draiman say the video was supposed to be like a modern twist on Job’s story. I didn’t have high speed internet at the time, so I think I must have learned this from the video content on the Believe CD itself. Having just read about his early life on Wikipedia, it makes a lot of sense why he would sing about something like this. I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of the band, but I do very much admire David. This and “Liberate” are the two most memorable songs for me. So much wisdom in just two tracks. Respect.

Fukt Ehhhhhhhhhhh... you could at least *attempt* an argument that PH was provoked, the government refused to sell them oil when they needed it for their war, and we were clearly on the path to join the allies so it was a preemptive strike. Still super shitty, but the civilians in the WTC didnt really do much, and there was no possible end scenario for the people that did it either. There was simply no possible way the terrorists could go to war with effectively half the planet and make any kind of victory, but from the japanese standpoint their navy was deadly as all hell and they could have had a chance if the US was taken out of the war early, though the russians likely would have invaded japan by land at some point.

The last era for quality heavy metal (2000-2010)??? I own this album, and I started to really respect these guys. I remember having my TV on mute while playing Final Fantasy XII and cranking this up. Any gamers out there? Try this: play one of your favorite games with the sound off, and put on a good CD. Sometimes the music goes amazingly well with the action on screen! Games can have good music, I know, but this is a practice I used to do all the time. Because I'm a history nerd, often I would put on a CD from the same year as the game I'm playing. Ever play Dragon Warrior II on the NES while listening to "Face Lift" (Alice in Chains)? Both released in the US in 1990. Try it!

This song, while both powerful and beautiful, it holds an edge for me personally that makes it hard to listen to most of the time. I used to fall asleep to music all the time when I was younger, but I stopped 11 years ago when my Dad died (circumstances of our relationship complicated, long story). I put some music on to help me sleep a couple of nights after I got the news. I fell asleep, and at some point in the night I began to dream, and the song Prayer started playing in the playlist at that time, and it had a profound and rather terrifying effect on me. I dreamed I was in a scene not dissimilar from David in the video, the somehow dark yet orange skies at the same time, though it seemed I was in old Jerusalem rather than an urban setting. The music seemed to course through me powerfully, and my voice joined his with every particle of sincerity I possessed, but with every word it seemed to cause more and more anguish and grief, and I felt an awful burning in me that palpably grew along with it, until I suddenly woke gasping wildly for air, as if I'd been smothered, in the throes of one of the worst panic attacks in my entire life, and that burning sensation lingered for a several minutes. I've never been able to fall asleep to and have music playing while I sleep since, and I've had to put this song, as amazing and powerful as it is, on ice for long stretches at a time until I know/feel it's good to give it a play again.

I experienced childhood trauma through family violence for over a decade .. it continued on through rejection for another decade after that. I built coping mechanisms to get me through all those years of family violence, rejection and unworthiness such as working my ass off, working out like a mad man, Thai boxing and finding outlets. I still remember driving home from work super late at night jamming out to this song and crying, empowered by the lyrics that life can bring anything it wants at me and I’ll find a way to win! “Living just isn’t hard enough, burn me alive inside, take everything away”.. this song, in a lot of ways, saved me and motivated me to fight through my shitty life and redirect its trajectory by fighting. Thanks disturbed!!

Adam Barnett I just didnt get why would you say it on this song. From what i remember they started incorporating guitar solos when they went hard rock. In TTF. These guys had a lot of potential they matured big way, and Indestructible was their best piece instrumentally it was really good listen even though it wasstill kinda generic but really good. This song really holds meaning to me because when this use to play on fuse a long time ago I was facing some really rough times parents divorced family abandoned me and I had essentially nothing. This song inspired me to rise again. Because sometimes divine intervention doesn't exist we pray in our own ways.
