I've learned that David Draiman and Disturbed address depression, addiction and suicide during every concert, performance offering support and understanding. They are one of the most popular, loved bands of our time! 😊❤

After Disturbed released this in 2015, Paul Simon told them that they now owned the song. David Draiman, Disturb’s lead singer since 1995, was originally a classically trained Jewish Cantor, as was his father and grandfather before him. I’m a grandmother in my 70s who’d never even heard of Disturbed until I came across the video in COVID lockdown in 2020. Now I’m a huge fan, even if Down with the Sickness

That doesn’t mean classically trained. He was a cantor.

Maybe we’re differing in semantics. Cantors are usually trained for 5 years. The college Berkeley School of Music offers a program.

This song has so many different meanings... When schools, especially public schools from kindergarten through high school run out of funding the first programs they cut ✂️ are the art's, music, theater etc. Also, ISOLATION, DIVISION, LONELINESS, NOT COMMUNICATING, NOT STANDING UP FOR OUR RIGHTS OR EXPRESSING OURSELVES AND WHAT WE BELIEVE IN, I could go on and on. 😢

This version is powerful and gives me goosebumps! He was trained as a cantor, but, I am glad that he became a singer in a metal band, otherwise, I would never have heard his amazing voice. Thank the Lord and Lady!

BTW, they're still a big rock band, filling 20,000 seat stadiums and every one of their albums has debuted at #1.

Darnell, I loved your reactions and comments. I'm a visual person so I appreciate that you are too. Be sure to watch their live performance on Conan. NOTE: that David Draiman was really sick for the Conan live performance and I heard he was not pleased with his performance, being the perfectionist that he is I can understand why he felt that way. However, the production as a whole was amazing and his performance was EXCEPTIONAL! I loved it. So POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL! Thanks, Diane😊❤ Disturbed "The Sound Of Silence" 03/28/16 | CONAN on TBS Team Coco

I LOVE their version of The Sound of Silence. I grew up listening to Disturbed…. Well I grew up surrounded by all kinds of music… classical, big band, show tunes, country, classic and heavy rock, metal etc. music everywhere, which means my playlist confused all my friends 😆 I love when groups expand their horizons and try new things, it’s just so much fun for me to watch and listen to! If you’re looking for something that is kinda like this I highly recommend Nickelback’s sea shanty version of Rockstar! It’s so much fun I really think you would enjoy it! It’s out of the box fun. And I absolutely love it 💛💛 pretty pretty please!!

I grew up with Simon & Garfunkel. My granddaughter had me listen to Disrurbed's cover and Geoff Castellucci just dropped his cover of it that you need to check out.

Yay - you've been missed! Your reaction to this was as exhilarating as Disturbed's recording. You would also appreciate their performance of this on Conan; even though David Draiman was sick and they nearly canceled, David's charisma performing live is off the charts. And to see the timpani beside him and the strings behind him was a thrill. Paul Simon emailed David after seeing this performance as he loved it as well. Hope to see you reacting to Ren soon (starting with "Ren - Hi Ren" if you haven't already seen it). Ren is simply astounding - a once-in-a-lifetime talent, and, as a theater geek, you would definitely appreciate him. Welcome back! :)

Disturbed is a great band & this was the best remake of the Simmon & Garfunkel song from the 60's . But you need to check out the greatest band ever Def Leppard . Here's why I say Def Leppard is the greatest band ever . Def Leppard formed in Sheffield England in 1977 , in 78 they had to replace one of their members . The person that replaced this member was only 15 years old , fast forward to 1984 . Def Leppard puts out an album called Pyromania , it reaches #2 in the top 100 albums of that year right behind Michael Jackson's Thriller . After promoting the album with a 9 month tour of sometimes doing 3 shows a night . The 15 year old now in his early 20's went to a Chevy dealership & bought a Corvette & had it shipped back to England . When they got back to England they started working on their next album , they decided to take a break for the holidays & on December 31st 1984 . That 21 or 22 year old band member went for a drive in that Corvette , after having someone pass him & slow down & every time the band member would try to pass the guy that passed him . The guy would speed up , getting mad & not thinking . The band member tried to pass the guy on a curve , his life would never be the same . The band member had a near fatal car wreck , now the rest of the band could've replaced him & finished the album they were working on & went back out on tour especially since they were the next big thing next to Michael Jackson . But here's why this band is the greatest band ever . Instead of replacing him , the other members of the band put their own careers on hold until their band member could come back or their band member came to them himself & said to replace him because he couldn't do it anymore . Well after a 3 year hiatus , they finished the album they were working on & went back out on tour with the member that had the wreck . And the album that they put out in 1987 called Hysteria , is still today one of the best selling albums of all time . And in 87 they had 6 singles from that album in the top 100 count down , the lowest ranked single from them was the title track from the album called Hysteria . Which was ranked at #10 in the top 100 count down . The songs that you need to check out from Def Leppard are . Pour Some Sugar On Me , Love Bites , Animal , Armageddonit , Rocket , Hysteria , Stand Up Kick Love Into Motion , Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad , I Wanna Touch You , Woman , Where Does Love Go When It's Gone . I could go on but , that's a good start .

You are underwatched. I thought your reaction was very good. Minimal interruption and thoughtful commentary. Maybe something on your interpretation of the meaning would be good Even if you don't hit the meaning widely accepted, your thoughts would be interesting.

This song was written in 1964 by Simon and Garfunkle!!!>>>>This song reminds of MANY bible verses, and it was written 50 years ago!.,, GOD KNEW HIS Word would always reach all generations..,, But , no one is listening to HIM!!!.., ITS ABOUT THE WORDS>>>WORDS, NOT THE MUSIC>>>>>I learned these very words over 50 years ago and they are straight from the WORD of GOD!.., This is NOT about the music, it is about our changes of common sense thinking for decades now, people have changed and not for the better.., Discipline is coming soon for our disobedience to God and HIS plan and how many have made up their own Neon Gods to replace the TRUE GOD.,, Our SILENCE against the LORD is LOUD AND CLEAR, the LORD will not tolerate out Arrogance much longer!!!.,, The LORD gives us SIGNS, EVERY SINGLE DAY, but what do we do, WE stay SLIENT, instead of SHOUTING from the mountain top, to CEASE from our EVILS!.,, WE IGNORE HIM!!!.., LOOK at how the Gov. has separated our country, we NO LONGER communicate, face to face, we no longer share the WORD or the music of the LORD in our schools and campuses.,, These are all now against the law says the Gov..., So why do we NOW follow the plan of Satan and give our GOD GIVEN RIGHTS to the criminals of CHRIST??
